Good Morning--To-day is Thursday, May 14th--The poor old sun is not up yet--and it is cold in this house--I have the little Fire heater running , so, hopefully it will warm up soon--The wash machine is chugging away in the kitchen here--It is so so nice to be back home here--I certainly missed you all--a lot!
So, where was I?-- --I was in LakeField, where I took Fred to save his life-- at least I thought then, that I could do that--There is a place there, for Seniors to live--called "The Regency"---I had a private room--on trial, on the first floor--meals in a dining room, with other guests--2 seatings--The staff were wonderful--kind---and there were sightseeing trips round the area--as well as shopping trips -I liked it, but I think I will return there in a few more years as I age--Son #3 and #4 drove me there and picked me up to return to my tiny house here. And as we drove back here, up highway #17 to Elliot Lake, there were lakes, so many trees along the highway--and huge rock cuts-- so magnificent---- This area in Ontario is so special-, and I knew I could never leave here. Oh it was pretty in Southern Ontario--The farmers fields are all ploughed , ready to plant--but not nearly as magnificent as here--But, it was so nice to sit at a table with 4 -to 5 others at our table--and to chat with everyone--and "no fries"-- They never served anything greasy or fried--SO------How are you all? I missed you all--Just be yourself---Drive your dreams--Be thankful that God doesn't answer all your prayers--and never lose your child heart--Try everyday to find happiness---and never ever give up! --So much to think about isn't there?
Below--Blasts from the past
Above--Me with my brothers and sisters above--My Mom and DadAllisons 2 children
Our oldest and youngest Grands
So--- It is wonderful to be home--I guess I had to go away to learn that I belong here at home----to-day remember to balance life's serious side with life's fun side--Thank someone each day--and remember-find fun where you can----I sure missed you all---I really am blessed to have you in my life!
Good Morning Lynda,
ReplyDeleteWelcome Back!
From what you have posted, it was a nice place. But, you just aren't ready to move there yet?
Well, you have to be happy with whatever you decide to do.
I bet Sushi was happy to see you. How did Lopez do during your visit?
You and your blogs were missed. I checked every day to see if you had posted. Glad to have you back!
Have a wonderful day!
Hugs,
Jackie
Oh Jackie--Yu checked everyday??--Too bad I do not have a portable compute--but--I tried so hard to enjoy the place and I did, but-- on the way up highway17, I realized that it would be hard to leave Elliot Lake.--This is such a striking place--the mountains and the lakes--and the trees-- I do love it here-- The place was very nice tho--like a dream--lovely people --=all had lost a partner so we understood us all--Maybe one day I will return but for now-- I am here--and I missed all of you also--and---Thanks for writing-- Be happy--LOL--=Lynda
Deleteand it is a cold morning outside here--Hugs, Lynda
DeleteOh Lynda, I had no idea how very much I would miss your blogs until they weren't there for a week. Welcome back! Bravo for you to be brave enough to try living somewhere else. If you had not gone, you might have wondered what it would be like. I'm glad you're staying put in your cozy little home. Moving from place to place in our later years is not for the faint of heart. I was concerned that you might miss your family if you had moved away, because even Matt would have been an hour away, at least that's what I thought you had said. Now you can settle in, create a network of friends, in addition to Dave, to share meals with and go to movies or plays. Might there be a place in Elliott Lake that offers Senior Excursions for the day? I hope Lopez behaved himself. Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back. I know all of us missed you.
ReplyDeleteMaureen from California
Oh Maureen--Matt would be an hour away even there-- He was so good to drive me--also-Phil and Tim--I did like it there but I really belong here--One day I may return there--Who knows eh>??--It was so good to return home here--_So, you missed the "daily blog"--I feel good that you all feel that way-- I missed you all also--Lynda
Deletenice to hear from yu-- Lynda
DeleteIt's Kathy. I am so happy to see a blog from you. I knew you were going to The Regency and I assumed you probably didn't have access to your computer - and I'm very glad that was the case. It sounds like a very nice place but I understand your wanting to say in Elliot Lake, at least for now. Did I tell you about my mom? After my dad passed away I was worried about her. She had lots of friends but I was the only one she could call for help. We toured a facility that was very close to her home, and she met some people there who she went to high school with. AND she could bring her cats. We signed her up but when it was time for her to sign - she changed her mind. She wanted to stay in her home where she and my dad had spent over 35 years together. We found ways for her to get help if/when she needed it. Hopefully you will meet more people now that the weather is frinally Spring so you can find other people who you can get together with. I am finally starting to clean up my garden beds - most of them I'm planting grass seed this year because it's all become too much for me to handle. Hopefully I can find a good Farmer's Market to get fresh vegetables this summer. Take care, and I'm glad you're back!
ReplyDeleteKathy--YU even missed me??--WEll, same here--I sure missed all of yu!-- but- I do love my little home here--I understand how your Mom must've felt--I sometimes wonder if I had of stayed in our home, maybe I would feel closer-to Fred-- -Who knows?-- Thank yu for writing--Lynda
DeleteHi Lynda! Welcome home! I’m glad you went on a trial run to make your decision. That was a great idea. It is cold in Ohio. In the 50’s but the feel is in the 40’s. Since you won’t be moving maybe you can come home with Allison this Summer? I hope so! Enjoy your evening. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteWow--It wud be so fun to return with Allison--sunny and cold here to-day--Lynda
DeleteIt was a loverly Spring day here to-day--Lynda
ReplyDeleteWelcome back, Lynda. I'm a little confused, I guess. Isn't there an equivalent place you could live in right there in Elliot Lake? I can't imagine that they would have no senior living centers there. If you don't like Lakefield, don't live there. Find a place in Elliot Lake!
ReplyDeleteMarti
I found one in EL but forgot the name. They didn't list taking excursions or buses to Dr to appts & not as many activities on the calendar. Not as nice as Regency, but hopefully cheaper.
DeleteLinda, do they have senior centers where they serve meals that you can go & pay & eat with others? Not where Fred went because I saw you had to have issues to be accepted there. We have in the US congregate meal programs though a govt program where you can do that. They also have home delivered meals on wheels but harder to qualify for that.
LOts oF choiCE -_LOTS OF SENIOR CENTRES HERE BUT THEY ALL OFFER DIFFERENT TYPES OF THINGS__I particularly liked what the Regency offered--long way Away tho--Lynda
DeleteHi Lynda: Welcome home! I'm really glad you went there for a week to try it out. Even though you have decided not to move yet, it gave you the chance to see what it is like to be in a place like that with lots of other people. Since you've decided you want to stay in Elliott Lake maybe now that you know what it is like to have others around and go on day trips and hopefully you can find some groups like that in Elliott Lake. I think that will make you much happier there. So the trip was still valuable. We're glad you're back. We missed you! Hugs Brenda
ReplyDeleteOh Brenda--I missed hezar from you all also--nice to be back-Lynda
DeleteRD in AZ here
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that you are home and that the trip went well you were missed and we are all glad that you are safely home
Quote for the day
Don't give up. Don't lose hope. Don't sell out.
Christopher Reeve

Deleteseems a bit milder here now also--which is good-lynda
DeleteGlad you did a trial run. Now you have an idea about what to expect. And can decide for yourself when or IF to go there to live.
ReplyDeleteGREAT blast from the past photos!
So glad you’re back and I bet Sushi and Lopez are, too.
HUGS and blessings

Oh Barb-- I missed Sushi a lot--I took Lopez but he is not a good dog in a Seniors residence--barks a lot-- and quite viscious ---nice to be back here where I really belong-Lynda
DeleteLove those reminders: "Pets remind me how needed I am" and that certainly has been the case with Sushi who came in from the cold, and Lopez who is teaching you the difference between Big Dogs and Little Dogs with big personalities!
ReplyDeleteHome is where your heart feels it! Good to see you back!
