When were the best yrs of yer life?

This picture was taken in a gravel pit, near Ottawa-- that is me, many moons ago-- The baby is in a car bed-- To-day there are no car beds-- The baby is son #1--- Himself was interning at the Civic Hospital-- Most of the lakes were polluted near Ottawa, so we went to swim in this gravel pit--almost unbelievable nowadays--There was water--very deep, I guess where they had dug up the gravel-- As you can see, Himself and I had made a little sunshade to cover the baby--

I am late posting as I was buying bananas ---plus $178 more---  The cost of food is terrible isn't it?--I left home at 8am--- and after putting it all away, it is now almost 12 noon--It is a lot of work to shop for groceries! 

Son #3, son #4 daughter, Son#1, and son#2--as they are to-day--many moons after the "gravel pit" days--They grew up way too fast---

It seems like only yesterday, they looked like this-----I read in my book that a Lady said, when her children were young, (like in the above picture)-they were the best yrs of her life-----  I too believe thy were pretty good yrs--but-- but to-day's years are different--kinda exciting too--I think-- LOL---  Lord love a Duck! Dream along with me!

Here we are--Himself and I--I don't know if I am supposed to share this picture or not, but--here goes--  You see, I haven't bought the package yet--but--I will--  just haven't looked into the cost per package yet----and the family picture  is so nice--  Eventually I can get that off to yu --

Everyday I say that I will get to the grocery store--and everyday I put it off--Hopefully to-morrow I can go--We seem to be surviving on what is in the freezer-along with fresh Ontario corn on the cob--My young  Grandson is going to cut the grass sometime to-day--then they are on Holidays--off to Michigan to camp--and to-day, we have a  man outside, pressure washing the deck down on the lakeside of the house . There is so much mould growing on the wood, which is slippery when wet.

Isn't it always the way--  There is so much to do, I don't know where to begin--do I clean the inside --or  look after the outside of the house-??-  Monday is a Holiday also-- This summer has gone by so fast--already we will be into August.---  I notice that the hummingbird feeders are emptying quickly--I think the young hummingbirds are at the feeders now----

So, I am kinda trying to stay sane in this busy world--kinda sorta trying----  altho I asked Himself  yesterday, "What if we sold everything and moved to Port Stanley-- the fishing village , where Mom and Dad used to have a cottage?--Do any of you ever dream of going back to where you were so happy?--Would it make you happy now?---Would you be able to find a Doctor there?---  (Why is that so important when one ages?)-- Doncha just wish that you could do something crazy like that in your "older age"-  ? 

Lord love a duck! I best get offa here--  check on the man with the power washer-----stop the dreaming--  LOL---

 

Well, Well, Well--

--Another day--Another Dollar-- Mom used to say that----I believe in to-day's world, it really means, "Another Day--and you spent another dollar"--and we did!--Last evening , Himself was using the microwave--it worked--and then it quit--It just stopped!--- We have had it about 4 yrs-- seems like only yesterday, I lugged that thing home! ---

I am convinced that to-day's world does not allow one to save money--'specially if one is on a fixed income----It seems more like, there is never enough money!--  Anyway, we searched for the same kind of microwave, and we found one model, at Canadian Tire---Of course the price is more-----  so, that is where we were this morning-- Son#3, the Policeman, called last evening saying, "Mom, there is one model at Canadian Tire, so if you are there at 8am, you can buy it."---  AND---We were at the store right at 8am--  and we have the new one here --not set up yet--but--it's here!

It seems everyday there is some kind of dilemma---something breaks --or needs to be fixed--or something----BUT----  yesterday I did get my hair done--It feels so much better!--and I did a few errands--while I was out--the pet store--It was Srs day at the Pet store and I saved $25 by going on Srs Day----also found a few pair of jeans on sale--buy one pr- get the next half price--AND THEY FIT

So, I need to vacuum--- I found some fresh pickerel in the freezer which we will have for supper, with fresh Ontario corn--and a salad--  Yu wanna come for dinner?--  --just head North----to Elliot Lake and ask anyone and they will point yu in our direction--

--- A good mood will give yu a good day---We are alive---  We might as well enjoy our life! 

 

Yu can't control everything!

Well, hello!! We have a rainy day--- a very humid day too-- I had to turn the AC on as the humidity is very high in the house-- To-morrow I guess I will go for bananas-- because, this afternoon is "hair day"--I  cannot go to too many places in one day--The picture below, is what I really look like this morning--

It has been 2 weeks since I had a hair-do--due to that Covid virus--

Can you do many errands in one day?-It is not easy leaving Himself too long also. I am in the process of having some kind of "Home Care" sending out a woman to sit with Himself , so that I will be able to get out and know that he is safe at home--not falling--(and that probably will go over , with him, like a lead balloon!)_

I have also called our wonderful "Handyman" who is going to power wash the deck down off the basement patio-- All the rain that we have had, has left some kind of slippery fungus growing on it, and I hope he can get rid of that for me.--hopefully on the nice sunny day--

I took all the bananas I had yesterday and made banana bread--3 loaves-- and--I forgot the baking powder---  so, the loaves did not rise--  They taste OK, but look pretty weird--You know, one should not attempt to bake when one is not in the mood--I put them in the freezer anyway--- but it is a lesson to me not to attempt to do more than one feels like--Someone told me that I should've frozen the bananas---- I must remember that! --  Himself refused to eat any of it--Maybe the looks of the loaves will not turn him off, in time-- I really need a "cook" I think-- but----that is not going to happen--There are days that one should really not try to do the impossible, doncha feel?-

Lopez is screeching--time to get him out ---I hope yer day is going well!--Is it?---- Hugs to yu all-- 

The Lord Will Fight For You!

Whatta difference a day makes--Yesterday I was pulling apart the study--the computer room--lugging "stuff" down to the rec room-- taking up "stuff" from there to,  where I can load it up , ready to go to the seamstress , who takes it ,  to where , I don't know--maybe she keeps it--or sells it--I did all this to get rid of some very old phones-- and since I disconnected these very old phones, the computer has stayed online--AND the remaining phones-! ----It was a lot of work tho--upstairs--downstairs--with boxes of junk--When one has lived in a house for so long, the junk just accumulates as the years roll by---

This bookcase  is not needed anymore--- so, if any of yu are in need of it, let me know-- I am having a problem getting anyone to pick it up--pandemic times I guess-

Some of yu were asking if we still have Sushi-- I don't mention her too much, as she just blends in----lives indoors--still comes in every night to jump up on the bed, clamour across both Himself  and I--lies on my chest , and purrs--She visits us every night-- 2--or 3 times a night! If you remember, she was the feral kitten who came in from the cold, one December----The people who run the place who takes in cats for the city, would not take her, as they said , because she was feral, she was unadaptable- so, I went online and there was a site, "How to train a Feral cat"-- It took me 3 mos to get her out from under our bed--

Well, I am jabbering on here-- 

Isn't it so good that there is always another day?-- Yesterday , I was so tired, trying to de-junk one room---I was going to go for groceries as the bananas are way too ripe--but---as Mom used to say, "There is always another day"--  maybe these over ripe bananas will go into banana bread--

Technology boggles my mind!

It would be wonderful to not have anything to do--to be a child again--to play-----This morning I was dragging furniture around-- trying to get rid of all my art supplies from the study-taking them downstairs to the rec room--and taking the books etc from the rec room, out to the road , with a sign that they are free-- hoping people will stop their car and help them selves to some books--so, I am late blogging-- 

You see, our internet  stops and starts--  It may be because our phones are old--Every room in this huge house has a phone--- some of them are very old phones---  and that might be the problem with the internet and phones going off line-- They might need to be replaced--And, why do we need a phone in every room anyway?----- 

All this moving around stuff began when I did a "download" with the cell phone-- At the end of the download, the cell had a lock on it. --I tried and tried to get the code off, but couldn't-- Finally son#3 the Policeman sent a video on how to take the code off of my cell-- himself was not able to answer the cell phone with that code on it--  Anyway, the code is gone now--

Technology--- Is it just me  or do any of you have problems with  technology?-- Doesn't some of the technology just drive one nuts?--- ----  The young kids are so good at it all--- 

So----  I shall get Lopez  up from his nap--get him down to the dock for a bit--We do have a beautiful sunny day here---

  This is a picture I found in an old photo album this AM--  myself and my young sister---both with ponytails---We were so happy , because Dad was driving us to our cottage in Port Stanley--I remember this---sitting in the back seat of the car----It seems like only yesterday 

 

Is Change just as good as a rest?

 This morning, I was thinking, "What should I blog about ?"--  I just read some of yer replies to yesterday's blog, and I thought, "You know, life is certainly not like it used to be for us, not what we expected it to be, not like our parent's lives, but---we ARE coping--WE ARE LIVING IT---and doing OK." ----  We are  learning to dance  in the rain, so to speak--because we have to!---We are alive--- 

Some of us might've picked up Covid---(ahem--like me!) --but, we survived---I am till recuperating after having the family visit---Man oh man, they sure have a lot of instructions for their Mom and Dad  (That's us!)- but, they mean well----so, as Mom used to say, "just let it go in one ear and out the other."---They came armed with all kinds of paraphenalia  to aid Himself   and to help me take care of him--Son #2 brought earphones to go over his ears--daughter left  all kinds of foods plus walkers  and canes  to keep him upright (He now has 6 walkers)----I know that they really just want him to be able to cope with everyday life here in the bush---

Last evening, the 2 dogs began to bark, and in walked Son#3-the Policeman. "I came to cut the dogs nails", he said-- Whatta good boy is he! --So I held each dog as the nails flew  onto the kitchen floor-(They vacuum up easily!)

Son#2, the Pilot is winging his way back from Britain as I type. He texted in the night telling me  his flight number so I could  track the flight.-- I am always happy to hear that he landed---Son #1 is in Michigan, at a campground I think--The family pictures they planned for us all, are beautiful-- no prices yet-- so I cannot share them yet.

So, that's my story --It is sunny and much cooler to-day-- really nice!-- I just had to share with you how each of us have adapted our lives to  living in a very different world-- We are strong and we must be--everyday-- WE cannot feel sorry for ourselves because  this is our life now--AND WE ARE ALIVE--have "Adapted-"---How has your life changed?---  How have you adapted?--  sometimes it does one good to hear that we are not alone in all this ---Lord love a Duck! ---"Is "Change just as good as a rest?"-(Mom's expression of course)

Work hard, Be Kind, and that is all!

It's hot---It looks like rain, but so far, it's just very humid-----I was going to do groceries to-day , but decided we should eat what is in the freezer first-----so I vacuumed-----  There is a lot of dog hair--everywhere-

-Himself always says, " We should get rid of these dogs---"----and, I always reply-- "Well, which dog should we get rid of first?"----(because it's not going to happen!)-----You know, I talk to these dogs--I know they hear me. Himself does not hear me-- I feel like Dr Doolittle you know--talking to the animals--Beau , talks to me with  his body language-- I know he understands me as he always does what he is told-- and Lopez will learn--

The Grandchildren have departed--Our daughter is back in Ohio--  Son#2 the Pilot, flew to London, England, last night---  He just might get to see the Queen--and yesterday I sat on the dock--alone--  It was awful! --Well, Beau and Lopez were with me-- I will have to ask some Ladies to come out and swim and visit--Himself is not able to walk down to the dock.

I did play the piano this morning, in between vacuuming-- and it felt good! --Lopez is weeping and wailing downstairs so, I will end this--- and take him out. ----I just was wondering what you all are up to to-day--???--- Did any of you get that Covid virus like we did?--And if you did, were you very ill?-(We were not!)-

I have to remind myself of this daily---  KEEP CALM----Try to stay cool----  exercise--- and turn the corners of yer mouth "UP"-- like--"SMILE"---  and if you are flying to the UK, look for Son#2 who will be coming back in a day or so--Wouldn't that be so funny if any of you met him?--  

Lord love a duck! Now Lopez is screeching! 

 

Never forget you're someone special!

The daughter is en route to her home-- They stopped at Mackinac Island--took the ferry across to the island--  ate at an authentic Jamaican restaurant---  rode  bikes around the island-- bought fudge--  --otherwise, enjoyed  their visit to Mackinac-- We used to drive there when the children were small, in the Spring--because there were no black flies -There was always a breeze and  lots to do and it was fairly close to here--a couple hours drive---There are no cars on the island--only bicycles and horses-- beautiful B@B's--and the huge  beautiful white hotel  which makes one feel like the Queen is there too--

So, back to reality here-- Both Himself and I, are over that Covid--That was a terrible thing to happen at a Family Reunion-----so happy we are over that! ---and now, I miss all the chaos ---- I miss the Grandchildren----  and all the family get-togethers- The Grandson was out to  cut the grass yesterday--  He misses his cousins--I remember Dad telling me, that when he grew up around Port Perry, all his family--cousins , aunts and uncles, just lived down the gravel road on another farm. There were very few cars-- so, when his cousins were looking for a wife, there just went down the road to the next farm and married the neighbour girl--nowadays, our children grow up and marry people from another city--or country--  Times sure have changed in a short time haven't they?

Lopez and I have "Hoofed" it up the road--were chased by huge crows-- It's tough being a Chihuahua eh?--  It seems that they could be prey for larger  animals--plus, they eat all kinds of stuff all over. I am continually pulling  sticks and leaves etc out of his mouth- --The AC is on--another hot day--and we are a part of it-- 

I hope that your day is special---  make it special! ----Never forget you're someone special!

Well, I turned on the computer yesterday, and there you all were-- Yu made my day! --- Thank yu for "hanging in"-- It has been a couple of busy weeks, and some days I never even got a blog on here--but--yu all were around , and for that I say, "thank -yu"-- Yu made my day!-

So--our daughter leaves to-day--It really has been wonderful to have her here-She helped me SO much with everything-especially himself! Here she is with her 2 children-our Grandchildren ---such special young people!

Last evening they all were here for pizza on our deck-- It was wonderful!--Everyone helped set it up and we had fun--Himself even sat outside with us all--Below , are the Grandchildren--minus a couple of them--

So----  I have walked Lopez AND HE DID IS BUSINESS ----Praise the Lord! ----  Grandson will be out here this afternoon to cut grass-- The "Covid" is over and itself and I are testing negative-- and--I will be sad to see our daughter depart for OHIO later on this morning--but-----I do have you--and the Queen is still here--  and she did NOT pick up Covid--  

Lord love a Duck!---- no matter what happens, we will make it--- We love  our families-- WE are making memories for them--teaching them to be strong and to make life work--  because, that is what we do!-------  STAY STRONG____ 

Life is sorta returning to normal.

 Again--a quick blog here-- Yesterday I did a blog--then discarded it as the whole blog sounded as if I felt sorry for myself---AND I DO--LOLOL----but--what can one do about it ?--  No use complaining---because it will only make other people kinda look at me funny--and really , I am fine!---

Of course I did get Covid--gone now--and no repercussions-- I realize how fortunate the whole world is to have those vaccines--Himself and I had 4 shots, and because of those, the Covid was kind of like a cold-- even not as bad as a severe chest cold--or bronchitis--It lasted  maybe 4-5 days--Even Himself is pretty much over it--and he is "old"--

Our daughter leaves to-morrow which will be very sad--- She was so good with Himself, who does what she tells him--not like me--LOLOL--  Son #2 the Pilot has already left  and is home now.-- It really has been so good to have everyone together--all the Grandkids-- 

These 2 women are my Mom's Grandmother and great Grandmother-- Look at their clothes?--  Thy must've been so warm eh?--  They never lived thru a pandemic--or--did they?--   They were strong women, as was my Mom---doncha just wish we could go back in time and chat with our descendants?---  They would all us so much!-----  

Hang in---  play that piano--watch a movie-- eat healthy and be kind to the people around yu! 

Lotza stuff!

I am thinking of yu all--  just so busy with Family here-- and--the Covid has passed--so that is over with--  Praise the Lord-- AND--  to-morrow I will get a blog on again--so many wonderful Grandchildren here--so many of my grown kids back home with their families--so many dogs---so much food---  Lord love a duck! This is what summer is all about I guess! ---AND-----LOPEZ HAS TURNED INTO KUJO ----He can get right snarly--- so, that has to be dealt with too--  a wee little Chihuahua who thinks he can do whatever he wants---  Now I must deal with that--  Lord love a duck!--Have any of yu any ideas how to deal with Lopez in his teenage yrs?--  stay strong--- all of yu--  Hugs-Lynda

 

The best ships are "friendships"

Well, it all started when I went out to weed the front garden. There was this huge bushy plant, which both himself and I didn't know if it was a plant, or a weed--At the end of each branch was this long white fuzzy stuff--I began to trim all the fuzzy stuff off--Some went in my mouth--and up my nose. I was sorta concerned about having that pollen in my lungs as I do have quite severe allergies--so--when I woke up in the night, coughing quite violently , I figured it was an allergy to that bush--  so--I carried on all that day, feeling OK , but kinda worrying if my lungs were OK--- so--we went to the lodge for dinner------Remember the pictures I sent of that place?--But, by this time, eating dinner, I could not stop coughing-- In fact, I coughed all thru dinner-- I never thought of covid---  The poor waitress probably got it---

The next day our daughter said she had a testing kit ---We used it--and guess what?--It tested positive--and I finally knew that I had Covid-- The next day Himself tested positive, as did our daughter and her daughter--Himself is doing well---- Our daughter has no symptoms , nor has her daughter, but they both are positive.Wouldn't you know it eh?--  All the kids are here--with all the Grandkids--and a photographer is supposed to  be taking a family photo this evening---- Won't that be fun?---  Maybe one side of the picture , the people with Covid could stand, and on the other side of the photo, "The soon to get Covid" people could stand---- That was our daughter's suggestion--LOL--

It is Day #5--or is it Day#6 post Covid now-- This must be a variant--seems it is not as bad as a bad cold---but--from now on, I shall DOUBLE MASK----  everywhere I go---  It seems to be very transmissible--  maybe yu all should wear yer mask while reading this-  (Now I tell yu eh?)--  Lord love a duck! --One never nows what will happen next--

Be strong----  double mask---   and I pray yu don't get this---  My kids treat me like I have the Plague--

 Good hot summer day--  so so nice!---  We even have the AC on --low!---  I just returned from the pet store, to buy Lopez a life jacket--to the tune of $64 ---  You see, yesterday , he fell off the dock--He was in a state of shock, as I was----so, he swam, but did not swim to shore--He went UNDER the dock--where there are a lot of huge logs-- so, I had to go under the dock also , to catch him--Lord love a Duck!-The logs were slimy and slippery  and it's a wonder I didn't fall on them--so, that is the reason for this $64 life jacket!-----  This wee fella almost bit an elder man who tried to pet him--  Never try to pet a Chihuahua-!---Somehow, I must stop him from doing that! 

"Think Happy Thoughts"--"Make it Fun"----"Radiate Positivity"---"Cool"--"---Wild Child-"--  all positive thoughts to-day--and---"Ron Jon Surf Shop"----  When we used to go to Florida, the kids all bought so much stuff from Ron Jons--Do any of you know of Ron Jons Surf Shop?-----You all must, if you have kids!--and speaking of Kids, here are our Grandkids--oh--2 are missing--

 

Well, some are still missing-- --OK---  Nap time here--- Tomorrow I must tell yu what happened to me-- what I picked up from someone out there in the town---  then Himself got it from me, as well as our daughter-- oh well----   I'll let yu all know too-morrow-- because I am OK--- so is Himself--4 shots--hugs my friends--and double mask!
