Only in Northern Ontario--and- It's Canada Day!

Happy Canada Day! --It's a holiday-- ----It is sunny here, humid--AND HOT! --  I love it!

I read a little about Canada Day-- It was created in 1982--- to replace Dominion Day.(I never knew that) Dominion Day celebrated Confederation and Canada's connection  to the British Empire. (--The Queen!--and you know I love the Queen!)--It is Canada's 155th Birthday.

July 1, 1867 Canada had 4 Provinces --- Later , Canada  had 10 Provinces, and 3 territories--

I do remember , as a kid, sitting in school, and colouring pictures of the Canadian Flag-- And I remember when our flag changed to the Maple Leaf---

so---Yesterday I did not blog--  because-----  I went to Sudbury to the Eye Specialist for a checkup on my eyes.--AND----after  sitting in front of a few machines and reading those horrible tiny charts,  she said, "Your eyes are perfect my dear!"-------  She made my day! --I really do know that my eyes are not perfect--  but the pressure in both eyes  is under 20-----A wonderful Driver took me in to the big city---and another wonderful Lady came out to keep Himself company and she stayed ALL the time I was gone!--  -----AND-----  a daughter-in-law  took wee Lopez for the day----so--it really was a perfect day! -

-oh---- I must tell you all  what happened on the way home---  We were tootling along (Dad's expression)---amongst numerous tractor trailers and vehicles, and the  driver all of a sudden turned our van around--and  said, "We have to go back! There is a giant turtle trying to cross the highway"---  AND THERE WAS! ---- This turtle was larger than a dinner plate!- She hollered at it and tried to scoot it back into the marsh with her stick for cleaning snow off the windows--The turtle did turn around--probably thought that he had to get away from  2 crazy Ladies!--I'm sure he was  very old--as he was enormously huge! -- Only in  Northern Ontario would yu see this!

I was walking Lopez this morning--He kept looking behind him--- We got back to our gate , and as I was walking in, from the back road, there was Mr Fox siting right there--eying Lopez--thinking of breakfast-I'm sure--  Lord love a Duck! --- It's tough being so small I told Lopez-- always having to be on the watch for larger  animals- Chihuahuas do have it be strong!

I hope yu all remember to be strong--  Enjoy Canada Day---  Get your nap---- and always hope for the best!

That turtle must have been a whopper. I've never seen one plate size. Hope he got to his destination safely. Thanks for the help. I've read that turtles dont venture very far.
A big fox hey....Lopez knew there was something there he didn't want to meet.
Very hot and humid here too.

  7. Happy Canada Day Lynda. It's warm here but cloudy right now (Tor). Glad your eyes are real good and I guess you won't have to make more trips. Good that someone spent the day with himself and that a DIL walked Lopez. It's nice that everyone was helping you for a change. Must have been funny for anyone watching you 2 with the turtle especially if they don't know we're supposed to do that, Hope he made it ok. Thank goodness you saw the fox to protect Lopez. Enjoy Canada Day.

  12. Happy Canada Day! Glad to hear your eyes area perfect! I am late in reading your blog as I have been cleaning like crazy because my son#3 and family were supposed to get here tonight for a 2 week vacation - but now their flight has been cancelled! I am so sad! I am hopeful that they will be able to get a flight in the next few days....I dearly want to see my grandson, Samuel, who I don't get to spend much time with!
