The glorious 4th--

It is the glorious 4th--- (Mom always said that!)--Enjoy your Independence Day --to all of you in the U.S.
Because we live very close to the border between U.S. and Canada, some of my family members have married  to citizens in the U.S.--some family members have moved their business' to the U.S.--and became U.S. residents----I always felt that my Mom wanted to live in the U.S.--and eventually Mom and Dad moved to Florida--and, our daughter lives in Ohio---  has become an American citizen.--So, we are all mixed up---  U.S. and Canada----  But, Canadians are sorta different--I guess more British in our ways---Our country is not as populated as the U.S.(I think)---

I learned this AM that Independence Day July 4th, 2022, is named that, because the declaration of Independence  was adopted to announce the colonies' separation from the kingdom of Great Britain on July 4th, 1776.

Son#2 the Pilot, was telling us that DOHA, QATAR, has a temperature of 42C--says it feels like a hot hair dryer is blowing on you--This is a picture of his breakfast--looks delicious!

Here is my brother, another American- now, --living now in New Hampshire , who flew into a fishing camp, in Northern Ontario----and he did catch a lot of Pickerel.

I hope that where ever we live, we can dance in the rain--or the sun---and enjoy this day!

  5. That is such an interesting story, Lynda, about your family. Glad your brother is enjoying himself. Your son’s breakfast in Quatar is also interesting. My whole family came to America in 1950 from Berlin. Parents had to go to night school to learn English and be able to pass the citizenship test. We became citizens in 1955. Sponsors from family paid for all of it, we were on a waiting list for years before we could come. Ethelmerz

  7. Happy 4th! My Dads family came from Sweden via Canada (where he was born) and my Mom came over from France after marrying my Dad during WWII. My sister was born in the French Alps and I was born and raised in California. I did go back to France to stud for several years. Interesting where all our families came from. Have you thought about a family reunion to bring all your family together at once?

  10. Wow your son's breakfast is real big. Looks good. Hope your brother is not travelling back thru Toronto. It sounds horrendous travelling thru it these days. Still warm today but tomorrow sounds rainy. I feel sorry for all the Americans trying to get back home today. Everyone seems to want to travel this weekend after not being able to for 2 years. Hope your daughter can make it up there this summer. Enjoy the day.
