Never forget you're someone special!

The daughter is en route to her home-- They stopped at Mackinac Island--took the ferry across to the island--  ate at an authentic Jamaican restaurant---  rode  bikes around the island-- bought fudge--  --otherwise, enjoyed  their visit to Mackinac-- We used to drive there when the children were small, in the Spring--because there were no black flies -There was always a breeze and  lots to do and it was fairly close to here--a couple hours drive---There are no cars on the island--only bicycles and horses-- beautiful B@B's--and the huge  beautiful white hotel  which makes one feel like the Queen is there too--

So, back to reality here-- Both Himself and I, are over that Covid--That was a terrible thing to happen at a Family Reunion-----so happy we are over that! ---and now, I miss all the chaos ---- I miss the Grandchildren----  and all the family get-togethers- The Grandson was out to  cut the grass yesterday--  He misses his cousins--I remember Dad telling me, that when he grew up around Port Perry, all his family--cousins , aunts and uncles, just lived down the gravel road on another farm. There were very few cars-- so, when his cousins were looking for a wife, there just went down the road to the next farm and married the neighbour girl--nowadays, our children grow up and marry people from another city--or country--  Times sure have changed in a short time haven't they?

Lopez and I have "Hoofed" it up the road--were chased by huge crows-- It's tough being a Chihuahua eh?--  It seems that they could be prey for larger  animals--plus, they eat all kinds of stuff all over. I am continually pulling  sticks and leaves etc out of his mouth- --The AC is on--another hot day--and we are a part of it--

I hope that your day is special---  make it special! ----Never forget you're someone special!

  1. I understand how in such calmness we miss all the chaos of our dear ones. We love them so much. We wish we could have them always close. (hugs) Awww, little Lopez is an easy snack for any predator. I'm glad he has such a loving momma. Have a beautiful Saturday.

  2. Oh Lynda, I know how you feel with all the happy times and now the quiet. Makes one feel a little sad. After my crew left, I did shed a few tears, but then I reminded myself of the saying that is accredited to Dr. Suess - "Don't cry because if's over, Smile because it happened!"

  3. Oh, Makinaw Island is a wonderful place to visit. Sooooo much fudge to taste and so little time. With no cars there and horses, there are the ‘horse cleaner-uppers’ sweeping the street. I remember one fellow doing that job and he had a T-Shirt on that said, “SHI* Sweepers are People, too.” He had a point! LOL Wishing your DD and family safe travels. Yes, the Grand Hotel is there large hotel there and it is beautiful!

OH Miss Lilly is constantly on the look out for a stick to carry as she walks. She trots along so jauntily with the big stick in her mouth! LOL

  4. I have very fond memories of a trip to Mackinac Island, had no idea it was that close to you. Somehow I pictured you in the very very far north!
    Take good care of yourself.

  5. I've always wanted to go to Mackinaw Island...Likely won't get to do it but I'm glad your daughter had a chance to extend her vacation while heading towards home.
I'm sure you miss everyone and the chaos.
Glad to hear grandson cut the grass.
Enjoy your day. Its so hot here in St.Louis. predicting another 100 degree day. Not looking forward to utility bill but grateful to have AC.
Glad you and Fred are well.
Did you get family photos taken? Can't wait to see the pictures.
Play your piano. Have tea with the queen.
    Hugs

  6. Oh no, careful with Lopez and crows around! Our little cat was often chased by a Bald Eagle, when we lived in the Sierra mountains in California. These animals can be carried off quickly. Yes, it’s always sad when the family members leave, but we would go a bit nuts if they stayed forever, too, lol! Glad the grass was mowed! There are still fires here in Texas, poor fire fighters, such high temps, makes some of them sick! Take care. (Ethelmerz)

  7. If Lopez were down here, where mountain lions have been caught on security cameras across town... well, keep him safe, 'k? The world has changed, indeed! So, hold on to the memories and share them with those grandkids! They are making fine memories every time they come to see you!

  8. Mackinac Island is one of the places on our bucket list but with our big dog it is off the table right now. We have friends in the UP to visit someday when we get on the road traveling again. Glad the visit with family was basically good and you were able to make some memories for yourself and the others to cherish in the future. It is so hot here today and the last few days. . . glad we have AC. Relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. But I bet you can still picture all the commotion of the last couple of weeks and that should bring a smile to your face.

  9. Since God is Love, I always say either no one is special or everyone is! I prefer the latter.
I was born and grew up in Michigan. Always wanted to go to Isle Royal...Michigan's only National Park. Never made it there, but my mom, step-dad and I vacationed at the Red Sands Resort on Lac LaBelle near Mowhawk. Wonderful times.
I know you miss your family, but now maybe you can rest!

  10. I'm glad you all had such a good time together and how nice that your daughter and family were able to stop by Mackinaw Island for a bit. My husband and I were there several years ago, I'd sure like to go again one day.

  12. Somehow I lost my page above. Great that your daughter is keeping in touch after leaving. You have to watch everything on your walks with Lopez. Take Beau with you sometimes and that should help keep predators away! And recuperate from all the company!
