They Always Come Back Home--Some sooner than later!

I broke down--  After reading all yer comments, yesterday, on the blog--- and noticing one lowly Hummingbird flying around the kitchen window where there was no feeder--Well---  I refilled 2 feeders-- Lord love a Duck! Will they EVER go?------so, the stragglers are still here--with a ton of bees surrounding  each feeder-

Son#2's daughter-- our oldest Grand daughter, is entering her 3rd year University- I was texting her this morning. It reminded me of when Son#1 and Son#2 went to University and us packing everything they owned , loading it all into a trailer , and making a big trip  to a University they had chosen, usually very far from here---and crying all the way there, assuming, we would never ever see them again! -

--Well, that is not the way it was---because, THEY ALWAYS COME BACK HOME!---  some came back within a few mos., some finished their courses and returned home  because they had no idea what to do next--some quit their courses, came back--worked at anything they could find in town, then  continued on in a different  school-- But, whatever course they began,  never was what job they finally ended up with----and it took years and years of them bouncing back home--then back to school--At one point we had 3 grown kids at 3 different places of education--I remember I never went to a dress store in those years--Himself's salary all went to finance these 5 kids----

I used to see parents crying as they unpacked their vehicles with their kids stuff, in some higher learning institute-- I always wanted to tell them to stop the tears--  for they will return home--maybe even in a week--

All our kids did graduate from somewhere and they all became successful in something--Praise the Lord!----They were not easy years for Himself and I, but looking back, it was all worth it--I remember Himself begging son#1 , in a parking lot where he was painting lines on a extremely hot day,  in another city, to quit University---- He continued on however, and graduated with Honours  --FINALLY---  I also remember Himself  becoming very angry with son#2 , when he returned home after his 2nd year in science and telling his Dad he was not returning to the school he had been attending--"I want to be a Pilot", he told his Dad---and--he did change to an aviation school--and was one of 300 who graduated from there with Honours----

How on earth did I ever get onto all of this?---"Fall" --I guess ---- School buses passing me on the back road--and kids trying to figure out their lives----in these Pandemic times ----with the bank Canada raising interest rates AGAIN!

We have sun to-day---Sushi is here beside me---Beau and Lopez have been out--Isn't it wonderful that we don't have to educate these pets--??- -- There are always things to be thankful for , aren't there?--

And, with all the Grandchildren, their parents now are going thru the tough years that we  survived--and in spite of all the bouncing back and forth, they were good times--eventually  the kids and us, figured it out-- The poor parents eh?--  Look at all these kids!

Be kind to One Another---and Sushi!

Here is Sushi--the feral cat who came in from the cold--who lived under our bed for about 4 mos-- came to the edge of the bed to eat--I could only touch her with an extended back scratcher ---used her litter box on Himself's side of the bed only at night when we were sleeping---and finally, one day---I went into our bedroom, and there she was , sitting "ON" our bed-----We figured she was a kitten--as she came into "heat" while residing under the bed--so about 6 most old! We had her neutered ---had her shots-- and even tho I tried to give her to the place which takes in stray animals, neither they, nor the city would take her, as she was feral---Poor wee thing eh?---

So, that's when I found a site on the computer which told me "How to train a Feral Cat"------and Sushi and I began to get to know each other--At one point, I tried to get her to live downstairs, but woke up the next morning, with her again, under our bed--I realized then that she must like us or why did she want to be under our bed--close to us?--

Anyway, she still lives mostly upstairs here--doesn't care for wee Lopez ----but, we know she goes downstairs every night--wanders around while Lopez is in his crate-She likes Beau-- every night she comes into our room, jumps over Himself, and comes and lies on my chest and purrs and purrs--then she leaves and goes wandering around the house, but returns again to our room and my chest a few more times in the night--Funny thing--If I don't hear her jump on the bed , she gets behind my head, in our bed, and pulls my hair , until I wake up, to stroke her fur.

She has personality plus-- how on earth she survived her first summer as a kitten outside--then the fall, and winter, when it was 30 below zero.  We finally trapped her on our lower deck, outside-- to get her in from the cold! Here foxes  would look at her as food--Lynx also--

So that is her story--probably one of many stories just like hers, as people seem to dump pets they don't want--just leave them in the bush to fend for themselves-SAD!

I must inform yu also, that I am NOT feeding the Hummingbirds anymore for this year--There are a few stragglers still around-----Hopefully they get the idea soon that it is time to leave!--  so, please watch for them around yer feeders--  I'm sure any that you see were probably here at our 3 feeders---  Can yu please welcome them to your area--give them a meal, as they  continue their trip to Mexico-??

so--that is all for today---  Lopez is calling-- but-------  Talking to you makes my day--
Lord love a Duck! --Be kind to one another---to the birds and the bees--and stray cats--It's what we are supposed to do----

What has got into me To-day!

This is a picture of a Typhoon heading to Japan--sent by Son#2, the Air Canada Pilot--  Thankfully, he is winging his way now to Vancouver ahead of it--I had a text in the night telling me his flight number-- He, plus other Pilots, are flying the plane  back to Canada-- landing in Vancouver--then he will "deadhead" back to Toronto-- (That means he can take a seat with the passengers and sleep--)-

Of course he sent pictures of food while in Japan-He really enjoys the food in these different countries!

I had to wear a jacket while walking Lopez this morning ----The temperature outside was 5 Celsius -cold! Good thing I had lugged some warmer clothing  up to the hall closet-

My oldest brother who lives near London, Ontario , and who, I think is bed ridden---  was trying to convince me to take care of him, as he does not want to go to a long term care home-- He has been phoning 3-4 times a day lately , telling  me "sweet nothings"-- I FINALLY TOOK THE BULL BY THE HORNS AND TOLD HIM TO STOP ACTING SO SILLY BECAUSE THERE IS NO WAY THAT I CAN TAKE CARE OF HIM---  I could go on and on--rant and rave--He is definitely not like my younger brother--This older brother  has lead a very different life--never ever  -----well, I will stop the ranting---It is hard to have to be so honest with a person  isn't it?---It kinda broke my heart to see him acting the way he is acting--no respect for Himself who is presently, doing quite well here--

So---  life goes on--I must be positive----Do what I feel is best----Hug the dogs --hope for the best-always-

OH---  To-day is the last day that I am feeding these last few Hummingbirds--I gave them their eviction notice this AM---- told them to "head South"--that all of you are awaiting their arrival--  --Lord love a Duck!--What has got into me to-day?

It's a good day to have a good day--

A wee bit of "FALL" is peeping out-- Look at this picture-- Now--picture Mr Fox trotting along the back road, above-- and, big Beau chased him away--That was this morning--
and here is Son#2's "big Bird" , as he calls it---sitting in Vancouver, loading --ready to go to Japan, where he is now--He texted us in the middle of the night, letting us know he was in the hotel there--All I could think of was, KAWASAKI---- That is a Japanese word isn't it?----  And he replied--"Kawasaki to yu Mom"--himself and I had a good laugh--I am always happy to hear he landed--where ever that may be-

So, all is well here--We have fewer Hummingbirds this AM--- I know they are heading to all yer feeders. en route , to Mexico. Is that where they go?-

School starts here next week---  Where did the summer go?--I am sorta happy to see "Fall"--It is exciting to enter a new season--

Last night, on PBS-was "All Creatures Big and Small"--- I am reading all the books, so to see Season one of that show was so nice!

"Keep yer Chin Up" a Dad used to say--  "Hope For the Best"--  as someone else said--

AND----- Lord Love A Duck!---

Do remember to "GET BACK UP"----always!----  We are strong--  because we have to be--these people keep us strong!

I jess might retire on Air Canada

It's beginning to look a little --like "FALL"----AND--Guess what?--There are not as many Hummingbirds- here---so--when yu see these wee birds at yer feeders, (your hummingbird feeders)-ask them if they came from  Northern Ontario--the Boreal Forest--  the Young residence-- I'm sure they are en route South--at least a good number of them!-

Lopez and I made the trek (or as Dad used to say)--"hoofed" it to the highway and back, this morning-It is very humid here  outside--this evening I hear it is going down to 11C--coolish!---Himself is bound and bent (Mom's expression) to get to the Deli this AM--wants  sliced roast beef--so it means a trip to town. ---

Himself watched Serena play tennis-- finally quit , and came up to bed--last evening-- I guess she lost-- Now why on earth (Again , Mom's expression!)---like-why did she not quit when she was winning?-- I simply cannot understand that!- I believe a person should  stop whatever they love, while they are "on top"--but--that is my belief--I guess not hers--

Son #2, the Air Canada Pilot just called--is in Vancouver, going to Japan this evening ---  will text me his flight number later--I told him that when I retire, from being a wife, maybe I'll just sit in the rear of any plane he is piloting, and travel with him--kinda like that song, "Did she ever return-no she never returned and she rides the planes all day"---- He had no comment--LOLOLOL--  as if he wants his Mom looking over his shoulder!-"S"---Lord love a Duck!

-It does seem like a good day to have a good day--- Hang in there!- Remember I loves yu--a lotta---not a little!

You are strong enough to live this life!

Good day to all--  Isn't it wonderful to wake up and be well-?--- and it seems all is well in this part of the world--for to-day anyway-  I am going to town to get groceries ASAP-

 I have walked Lopez --

He is such a  wee guard dog--As we neared the highway, he began to growl as he was starring into the bush--then he began to bark viciously-- I could not see an animal, but I'm sure there was a fox or a bear close by-He just would not move --kept looking into the bush--

To-day the Grandson comes to cut the grass--- hopefully! ---Beau , the German, is here beside me-- and Sushi is on her perch starring outside-- I was up at 6am to feed them all--Good thing  I'm not a farmer eh??--I'd be still out there feeding the chickens--LOL

I wish for you a good day--be strong enough to live it, no matter what-- I figure someone up there--or out there, is watching over you--Lord love a Duck! WE CAN do this!

Talk to those Grandchildren-- Make them remember "YOU"

It's September 1---Where did the summer go--  It's coolish also! --  I had to put away the light jean jacket this AM--take out a fall, warmer jacket ---I feel frosty mornings are around the bend!--
I found this picture buried in the computer here- my Gramma on the far left--her daughter, Enid, in the middle and my Mom on the rt--probably taken at Gramma's house, along the driveway, in Port Perry-Gramma always wore dresses--In fact, I guess they all did. I don't believe "jeans" were even in existence then!

I wish I had known my Gramma better--I was too young to care much about her. I do remember her carrying huge bowls of food for supper, from the kitchen, down a hall, to the dining room, when we would land at Grampa and Gramma's house-after a long drive, from Windsor, Ontario along a 2 lane highway.---5 children and Mom and Dad.

In the above picture , she must've been about the age I am now. To have a family of 7 arrive for the weekend must've been hard for her! When we would arrive , usually Aunt Enid, Dad's sister, and Aunt Olive, another sister, were there to help her--(Who names their children "Enid" and "Olive" to-day?

I remember, Gramma always had cookies, cooling, on the window sill outside of the pantry.-We were told not to touch them, but we always did. Once  Mom and Dad allowed my older sister , Mary Beth, and I, to walk to the swimming pool, down the hill in Port Perry- We were told by Gramma to be back , up the hill, to their house, by 5pm.---  Of course we  forgot about the time and swam to our hearts content. When we finally decided to get back , walking up that hill, we saw Gramma coming down, with a yard stick in her hand--(In fact, I have that yard stick now--the same one!)-

I don't remember Gramma using that yard stick--nor do I remember what she said, but I knew that we were very bad to not have done as we were told.

Too bad I never really ever talked to Gramma--I think I would've loved her--I think, to-day.  I am a lot like her--Dad used to tell me that. --But, Mom also said I was a lot like her Mom--  LOL---

----------my Mom, "ILA" in front--(the little girl)- with her Mother on the far rt------

So, I suppose the moral of all this, is to grab the Grandkids-- TALK to them--tell them stories about growing up ---ask them stuff-- get in their way---make them remember "YOU"----so, one day they can blog aboutcha!

This was Gramma, graduating from "Normal School" --which was really Teacher's college- way back when!
