----and all I did to get the cut over my nose, was put on my slippers---which bent under my foot and when I went to step forward, out of the bedroom, BOOM--- DOWN I WENT----FLAT ON MY FACE--onto my nose----which began to bleed profusely---- So--The bandages have been on for a couple of days---and this AM., I changed the dressing--It is looking better---and the nose bleeding has stopped=-My rt knee is quite sore still--
I suggest if this happens to you, you might just as well run away--far away---because your kids will; most certainly lock yu up-- go into fits of "Mom you cannot live alone"--and--"What if you fall in your new place?"----
Oh man!!~!~ Do these grown chlldren never fall--- well------flat on their face?---- "Stuff happens""--
Okay, sis i am now caught up on reading and checking for replies to comments.
ReplyDeleteYour poor knees and nose! I am happy you didn't break your hip, though, like me!
Such pain I have never experienced. Added to it is the pain on my tailbone. Years ago I bounced down a cement staircase on it. Periodically the excruciating pain returns.
I am in a rehab place now that is right across from my apartment building. I hope to e able to go home to Lucky Wednesday or Thursday.
All for now. I need a rest before staff comes in to do things to me again and lunch. {{{HUGS}}} Love, Maggie
Yu broke yer hip??-=Lordy Be!-- That rehab place is convenient !--Just get better--- Lynda
DeleteDoes Elliot Lake have Taxis?

ReplyDeleteLife is the best eh??--LyndA
DeleteThe very best thing to do, is to do exercises to work on your balance - my neighbor who is 80 some, goes for physical therapy - then, does her exercises at home. You want a strong core, and you want to work on your balance, so stuff like that doesn't happen. This is what I read, to do, in any case. I still have my balance, or would have fallen numerous times.
ReplyDeleteBALANCE----- important--for sure--Lynda
DeleteYour kids are worried, of course, especially as it's so soon after they've lost their dad. HOWEVER...even with good intentions our children can sometimes, out of fear, get a bit pushy and try to give us more care and help than we want or need. My one dear friend says her eldest daughter gets on her last nerve by 'momming' her; trying to direct her behavior and decisions. I suppose it's a bit of a balancing act on our part as we all adjust to our aging and their fear for us. I do get it to a large degree; I have to frequently remind myself that my input is not needed unless asked for as she lives her life. I only offer my thoughts/advice when asked. My daughter and I have balanced it pretty well, but I do every so often have to remind her that "I'm not there yet..." :D
ReplyDeleteSo glad you're feeling a bit better even though you're feeling the after-effects.
Happy Saturday!!
Lynda, so happy to hear that the bleeding has stopped. Maybe take Tylenol for your knee and ice it ever so often. Falls happen, and not just with old people. If ever there was a strong woman, you are the personification of strength and wisdom. You are wise enough to recognize when you need help and ask for it. Have a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteMaureen from California
Hi Maureen--Yes --exercises--etc--help us as we age-- but when yu fall--Lordy Be!-- it is awful Lynda
DeleteHi Lynda! Nice to hear you are feeling better! It looks like it must be terrible. Cloudy and breezy in Ohio. In the 60’s. Feels nice! Your writing about the kids cracks me up! It is not funny but you write about it funny! LOL Any of us could take a tumble. They just care and worry. Stay strong and safe. Big hugs!
ReplyDeleteYes--- hugs right back at-yu--=Lynda
DeleteIt's Kathy. I am so sorry that you were hurt so much when you fell. But I'm also sorry that your children are fussing at your about it. After my dad passed away I did encourage my mom to move into the newer Senior Center close to her home. We visited there. Everyone had their own apartments. You could cook yourself or go downstairs for a community meal. She met several old friends when we visited. They found a main floor apartment for her that looked out at the bird feeders - my mom loved feeding her birds. I wanted her there because we lived so far away if something happened but she chose to stay in her home. She wanted to be where she felt close to my dad. It's hard for us as the children to understand how it feels as the parent. I would want to stay in my home too! Yes, we must be strong in this life! It's so cold outside today after so many days in the 80's & 90's. It's cold in the house too - I think I'm going to have to turn the heat back on! Have a good day, I'm glad your nose is healing!
ReplyDeleteKathy--It is very cold here to-day--Lynda
DeleteWow! That looks like an ouchie for sure. Take good care!
ReplyDeleteNot long and you’ll be back in Elliot Lake.

Hi Barb-- How is thje pooch?--Lynda
DeleteHi Lynda: I think you need different slippers!!Haven't had a chance to write anything this week but your hair looked good without the bandages and loved the pics from Brazil. We all fall but maybe the difference is that as we get older our balance is not as good? I know mine is terrible. At least it's starting to heal so hopefully you will be back to normal soon. Hugs Brenda
ReplyDeleteBrenda--That fall was really bad--- Lynda
DeleteIndependence versus support... getting old-er isn't for the weak, we must stay strong! I agree about "different slippers".
ReplyDeleteI found a good video on YouTube that was about footwear for those of us over 60, due to how our feet change. There are a whole lot of these videos out there, and one of the things they tell us NOT to wear are backless slippers (hope yours aren't). Regardless, worth a look-see!
You Tube has so much good info eh?--Lynda
