To-day is Saturday, December 13th--I have been out shovelling--It is VERY cold outside---but sunny---Winter weather----
Lots to do to-day--before Christmas Day----still some shopping to do--
I went to Son#1's restaurant last night for supper--took a Lady friend who attended the Grief counselling with me--too many people in the restaurant--and very ice-y roads , when driving home in the dark--rain coming down , on the snow-
-I still haven't shovelled the back deck--must get out to do that--and groceries to buy to-day also--and-3 more days and it is my Birthday-- 83 yrs old--(and that is old!)A few words of wisdom--
#1.-Never say never--
#2--Conserve energy
#3 -Famous people are not necessarily good people--
--and now---some "blasts from the past-- #1. Son#2's daughter Hannah
and another of Son#2's daughter, belowinside the plane--Of course taken by Son#2, the Pilot--
I must get on with this day--more shovelling to do--then see Lopez to get out--then breakfast-----
Question---How are you doing??---Are you going to make it thru Christmas without crying --?-- Do you get "pooped" in the evenings?(I do!)--Will you be happy when Christmas is over??--Or--Is this your favourite time of year?-Do you wish that you could sit on Santa's knee and tell him all your troubles??----OR---just hug the old fellow--????
So, I shall send you all a big hug--??
So---
Go on--Get offa here--I shall return later---
REMEMBER
to be Merry --It's Christmas!
I am feeling overwhelmed....must have all receipts and inventory completed by Dec. 16th. Such a big job....so happy to be back in my home, but I have had to purchase so many, many things and keeping the records for it all is almost more than I can handle. Like the other day when I had to run out and buy a turkey baster and potato masher....as I did not realize I had not purchased those things yet. So far, only essentials like furniture and towels, and you get the gist of it! But I keep telling myself to "quit your bitchin" and enjoy all the good I have in my life. I ordered Christmas cards on Nov. 16th.....UPS said the box arrived empty and crushed....called company, they sent replacements - but they had somebody else's name on them.....called company again....they sent new ones....all good right? Wrong! They sent the same wrong ones with someone else's name.....called again....they promised to get it right this time.....we shall see. I am hoping they get here in time for me to mail them! So that's my life in a nutshell so far! I am trying to just laugh about the irony of it all! By the way - anybody know who "The Yamaha's" are? I have lots of cards they could have -except they have my personal photo on them! LOL!
ReplyDeleteSandra--YU SOUND VERY MUCH LIKE MY LIFE RIGHT NOW_It will improve--takes time--I think it is because we are struggling alone--_Our husbands made life easier--We will get there --"Patience is a virtue--possess it if you can--It's often found in Women--but never in a man""---Mom used to say that--- Life will get erasier---takes time--Big hugs-Lynda
DeleteGood Saturday morning to you Lynda. You seem to be doing quite a bit of shoveling snow. Perhaps you're shoveling areas that the man you paid does not include in his clearing of snow. Did you decide against purchasing the snow blower you talked about? I'm glad that you made a friend in your Grief group and that the two of you had dinner together at Son #1's restaurant. I hope your family plans a birthday celebration for you. Enjoy the weekend.
ReplyDeleteMaureen from California
Oh Maureen--=so much snow falls here--I had forgotten--You could shovel till the cows come home (Mom's expression--)--but-- I am doing it with help--Lynda
DeleteWe need your snow and rain in my part of the world. Dry, dry, dry here and this week we had wind, with gusts up to 80 mph. No fun.
ReplyDeleteAs for Christmas, it was always fun with family members and when our daughter was young. Now, I don’t get too excited about it. I am giving my daughter”s family experiences with a couple of annual memberships to gardens and children’s museums in their area and skipping shopping for gifts. I do enjoy the lights and decorations, and all the musical events in my small town. So, I guess if I sat on Santa’s lap, it would be to thank him for bringing some cheer to people over the years.
Take care out there with your shoveling! Susan/Colorado
Nice to hear from YOU Susan--I shall send the snow onto yu--LOL--way too much falls here--dunno why--Nice to hear from yu--Hugs to yu too-Lynda
DeleteGood morning, sis!
ReplyDeleteIt's COLD here, too...-4F and mostly cloudy. No snow predicted today.
I wish I could join you for dinner, but at least you can have company for your meals.
The last few years I have barely enjoyed Christmas. This year it's wonderful! That back pay I got from Social Security disability is enabling me to buy gifts for EVERYONE in my life...even a small gift card for the new people in my building.
I always tell people not to worry about getting presents for me...I give to make them (and myself) feel good. It's about the love!
Hannah again! She's adorable and your favorite...or at least the grandchild you have the most photos of!
I'm still working on wrapping, but am over half done. I washed a large load of clothes yesterday, too.
Since I got up well before the sun, I'm going to crawl back in bed and finish my night's sleep. I shall return later, too. {{{HUGS}}} Love, Maggie
Oh Maggie-- Sounds like your Xmas will be special!-Yu will enjoy that!---- so busy these days--- getting the Grandkids gifts----groceries--shovelling-- Lots to do-- But00I am doing it--- I am happy that I took that course on grief--sure helped--Lynda
DeleteIt's Kathy. Christmas used to be my favorite time of year but not so much anymore. I only buy gifts for the 3 little boys and their moms send e a list of what they want. So that part is easy. The rest of the children and grandchildren get cash - so now I just have to do their cards. Some need to be mailed - those will have to be first. It seems no one in my family is all that interested in Christmas this year - and we never even get to see Tom's son and family because they are so busy doing Christmas with his mom and his wife's family. So no, I don't really look forward to it anymore! And yes, by evening I am totally spent! After dinner and clean up I close out my computer, put on my pj's and read or watch television. The ONLY thing I do is take little Daisy out when she asks. Sorry about the roads yesterday, makes it hard to enjoy going out! It's very cold here today & tomorrow so I will be staying inside!
ReplyDeleteHey--Kathy--all my Grandkids get cash--(no wrapping)--Hard to get used to all the snow here--but--in time I will--happy that grief counselling is over--It sure helped--Hugs to yu-- Kathy we will get thru this-Lynda
DeleteGood Morning Lynda,
ReplyDeleteI plan on hunkering down inside today. We are supposed to get 6-8 inches of snow from now until tomorrow morning. But, I have plenty to do inside today. I need to work on Christmas cards and do some last minute Christmas shopping online. Where does the time go?
I've noticed as hubby and I get older, it's gets later and later for us to get our Christmas decorating done. We haven't even gotten up our tree yet, that's also on the list for today too. We used to always put it up Thanksgiving weekend.
How nice that you and your new found friend got to go to son#1's restaurant for dinner.
Be careful shoveling and driving around the snowy weather.
Have a great day!
Jackie
It sounds like you are getting our snow--LOL_-so so much snow fallS here__It comes down even when they do not predict -it-- Xmas is very different this year--but--I am coping--so I guess it will be oK--LOL-=-Lynda
DeleteIt's Marti. I still LOVE Christmas, otherwise December is such a dreary month. I decorate to the nines rignt after Thanksgiving, and it's just so lovely and peaceful here, so it's worth it, though it gets harder and harder every year to trot it all out. I don't send out cards anymore, and get very few, and I have just my cousin, her hubby, my late cousin's wife, and her son to buy gifts for, and I buy a few for myself as well, ever since my husband passed, I do that. In the car, I listen to Christmas music, and enjoy all the pretty lights and displays, so, to me, it's still a magical time of year.
ReplyDeleteWe have a lovely snow falling here, supposed to be 4-6 inches, and I just got in from grocery shopping, so I can relax for the rest of the weekend and let it snow! :)
Oh Marti--You sound so content--I hope I eventually get that way
Delete--Right now I just keep trying to get thru everyday----miss Fred SO SO much--but each day seems a tad easier-One day I shall be like you--LOL_- Hugs, :Lynda
Oh my. Glad you got to the restaurant w/your friend and back home safely with the weather. Miserably cold here, too. -16C.
ReplyDeleteOhhhhhh, Happy Birthday early.
You’re right . . . never say never. You just don’t know.
LOVELY blast from the past photos.
Doing all right. So busy taking care of DH don’t have time to think about or do much else. But that’s where the priority has to be @ this time. YES, I am pooped @ the end of the evening, to be sure. I love this time of the year, except for the weather!
Always accept hugs! And love to give them away, too!
