OLD AGE IS no place for Sissies!

I feel it in my bones--It will be a good day  to-day--

Yesterday I was invited to Son#2's new home on the lake--The catch was that I had to drive myself there--over countless country roads--passed  beautiful farm fields----  but--I DID IT!  Son#2  drove towards me , so he could show me the turns in the road--We had a BBQ dinner--then I drove back here --alone--and I made the right turns--  I took Lopez with me and he was good in the car. It was nice to eat with other people--- (It is not fun to eat alone , when you live alone.)

If you are friends with anyone whose spouse has passed, the best thing  you can do to help them, is invite them for supper--even if they bring half the meal--It is so lonely to eat alone.

The Heat Dome has moved out--(I just heard that on the radio.)---To-day it is going to be 24C --a lot better than 29C but it will be cloudy----I see a bit of sunshine out there now tho!
What about the above?---
Do not be the same---be better!
Try to keep up with your Grandchildren's Birthdays--
Be happy--or--try very hard to be happy----
Be strong----Be positive----and try not to cry so much----

Hmmmm--what else?--- I tell myself every morning all of the above--

A few basts from the past here--

cousins
I must be strong ----  try  to be strong--- The month of July is nearly here--I MOVE ON JULY  25TH
Can you believe that?--Only one month to go--Holy Cow!!!!

You know it's not easy, being old---The kids today,  believe they are smarter than all of us-- (the"old" generation)--What do you think?

  1. Good morning Lynda,
Loved all your positive messages. We all need to try to follow those ideas every day.

So Matt's new house is done? When will he move out of the upstairs apartment? How lovely they invited you over.

You need some friends to dine with. I hope you have that in EL. Once you get your widow group going you'll have friends to dine with Matt is such an outstanding son. Gotta love Matt.

    Great pictures, thanks.
    Still crazy hot in St.Louis.
Have a great day. Stay positive!
    Hugs

    1. Hi Marge-- It is pretty hot here still but they say that heat dome is gone--I just finally walked Lopez and was stopped by an older man on his bike trying to tell me about a grieving session he went to-- I felt like telling him that I am not interested in meeting a gentleman --- but he meant well I guess--Our real estate Lady who sold our home in Elliot called this AM also, to tell me that she found that house trailer for me--so nice of her!--heading out in a bit here--meeting san #2 --Lynda

  2. Good morning, sis.
It's rainy here and will continue on and off today and tomorrow. Friday it will be better and I will make the drive to see JoAnne again.
Love the blasts from the past...always!
'My' Law of Attraction does say the 'new ones coming in' (the babies and kids) are smarter! They are born understanding the new technology, for instance. That may be why when we are growing older we need their help.
I'm glad you and Lopez enjoyed your trip. Driving over strange and windy roads can be a challenge.
When I'm home by myself, I don't mind eating alone, but when I go out...even to the cafe part of my favorite grocery, I do like to have a friend or family member to eat with.
More errands to do today, mostly inside. I'm glad with the rain.
I'll come back later to check. Maybe you will have read my comment from day before yesterday. {{{HUGS}}} Love, Maggie

  3. How lovely that you were able to have supper w/son #2 and see his new home on the lake. Awesome. AND you drove yourself there and back w/Lopez’s company!

Glad your heat dome has moved on. Ours has, too. Grateful.

Definitely, getting old-er is NOT for sissies. ((HUGS))

    Hugs and blessings

  4. Hi Lynda! I used to help my elderly neighbor a lot and she also said getting old was not for sissies. If she was having a bad day she would say getting old was a crock of shit. LOL I miss her! I am so proud of you making that drive! I cannot drive on country roads. I get lost. I don’t like them at all, really, even if being driven. Sounds like you had a great time. So nice! Tommy and Kloi go for boarding in the morning while their area in the house gets remodeled. I am upset already. They will be gone until Friday evening. I hope you’re having a great day! It is 87 in Ohio so getting cooler with a few days of rain coming. We need it. Hugs!

  5. Hi Lynda: Didn't realize Matt had moved from your building. i usually watch the news while I eat. Since a trailer was found, does that mean you will leave even sooner? Who is driving you back to EL? Glad to see you're having no problems driving now. Still really hot today but definitely much cooler tomorrow. Have a good night. Hugs brenda

  6. A grief group isn't about finding a new partner, it's about sharing your feelings and your struggles and trying to figure out how to make it though the days without the one you've lost. Even how to handle the basics that your partner took care of but you have no idea how to do. There's also the opportunity for new friendships, calling someone who understands when you need them, and yes, even lunch or coffee out. Almost every place has something like that, and it might be worth looking into once your move is complete. Maybe The Lodge can give you some guidance where to connect.
