To-day is Thursday, December the 4th-- and yes, last night was the coldest night we have had--It was supposed to get down to minus 20-I don't know if it really did, but--the floors on the main floor are very cold-I had to put on my slippers--
So, what is new on this very cold day?--Well, the "grief session", yesterday, was very good--We only have one more class---I found one of the ladies who attended the session, lives very close to me and she finds the days difficult also without her "other half"--I must try to get her over here--
To-day I am meeting a friend of #1 son---for breakfast--IF THE CAR STARTS-and it will if I get out there and start it, to warm it--
How did your day go yesterday?---I hope that you made it a good day--even if it might've begun all wrong--Sometimes, one must--"fake it-till you make it"--and then something usually kicks in--It might just be the TV--or a phone call--or a good thought--Just look at all these happy smiling people--The girl in the second row, left hand side, is me-- It was my Mom and Dad's 50th Wedding anniversary--and all the Wllaces gathered in Florida to celebrate it-- Mom and Dad are in the front row on the left beside my brother.--Fred , back row, right side--
Memories are so important aren't they?--below-- Mom and Dad in Burlington--
And below-- There is Fred relaxin'--beside my sister-in-law Memories---So many good memories!and--below-- Words of Wisdom--
#1--As long as you are thinking anyway, think big!
#2--Allow yourself to make mistakes
#3.-Take refuge in your mind when needed-
And now, little Lopez and I must get out there in the cold--Lordy Be!!--We must bundle up--Always remember, that our age allows us to do whatever we want--and love it!
Your pictures are precious! They keep memories alive! Right now I have several boxes of photos that I need to good through - the cleaning company came and dumped all my files and boxes of photos and tried to clean them of the soot and smoke damage. I dread going through them as it will take forever.....some of the pictures are very old! I should have taken care of organizing and sorting them a long time ago.....but oh well, they are the least of my worries for right now.....seems like Christmas will be here in a few short weeks and I must focus on getting ready for having all my family here - even my son's family from CA! I am so excited as I haven't seen them for over a year!
ReplyDeleteSAndra-=-That is SO SO nice to have yer family with yu-_ No wonder you are excited! Those pictures can wait-- Lynda
DeleteGood morning, sis.
ReplyDeleteIt's cold here, too. Now it's -13F. It was colder overnight. The sky is blue, though, and there's no snow coming down now.
The photos are wonderful. They bring back happy memories. Those are the ones we want!
I had a good day yesterday, yes. Except I went to Amazon Haul and found more stuff for gifts. I thought I was done. I really need to start wrapping.
Today it's garbage, etc, hair...organizing.
You will miss your bereavement class when it's done, but you have made at least one new friend. How about knocking on her door?
And the other new friend is the friend of your son...now your friend, too, yes?
Regarding the title of this blog: Joseph Campbell said to be happy and have a good life, " Follow your bliss." Smart man.
I'll come back later, Lynda. Good luck with that snow! {{{HUGS}}} Love, Maggie
Seems it is cold everywhere-- just that time of year -- I think I will gIve the kidS $$$-- I had gifts but no time to wrap-- busy time of year--Lynda
DeleteHu Lynda, im glad you have a new friend from bereavement group. You have a new lady to do things with.
ReplyDeleteSons friend, who is your friend, is starting to sound like a routine breakfast date. Something else to enjoy.
Matt will be coming soon for Fred's celebration. Hes a great son.
Take care of you. Try to stay warm.
It's 16 above zero but dry in St.Louis today.

Marge
Oh Marge-just came from the bank-- another new manager--and he looks so young--Yes my "Matt" will be here soon-- Lynda
DeleteGood morning! It is sunny and 24 in Ohio! The sun makes me super happy! Hope your car started for your breakfast. That would be great to get the lady from your meetings to come visit. Love the anniversary celebration pic. I got my tree up today. That feels so nice! Enjoy your day and stay warm! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteSo nice to get your tree up eh??--LyNda
DeleteIt's Kathy. Love the photos. You have a large family and yes, everyone looks happy! It's just me and my sister so when I married my first husband I was thrilled to have a larger family! He's left me and our children over 30 years ago but I still am part of his family which I love! It got down to -5 for us this morning, I'm not ready for this cold. I hope your car starts and you can meet with your Son's friend. Have a good day!
ReplyDeleteOhh Kathy--so so cold here to-day--Yes, big families are a lot of fun--Lynda
DeleteI hope you're able to invite the other lady from your grief group over ... to your house or maybe out for a coffee (inexpensive outing, compared to a meal). I try to get out for a coffee or meal with friends once or twice a week; I prefer coffee as it's less expensive money-wise and calorie-wise. Interestingly, it's more often with newer, more casual friends. I've purposefully made new friends, and am fine with the fact that the relationship is different than with dear old friends. Some of them may become dear old friends also, but casual activity friends are good too. One lady is all about going out for breakfast. Another is good to go for coffee. And another is going to be my gym buddy in the new year and is a total hoot; she's told me we are going to have a blast together and I can see that we will. It's good to get out and about; I love my home, but I stay happier if I'm out and about regularly. I go to church, the gym, Bible study, and girlfriend dates. I feel the difference when I spend too much time at home.
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, the fiftieth anniversary picture is sweet. You are so darkly tanned; I always wished I could tan like that, but freckles was the best this fair-skinned girl could do. It looks to be in the 1970's or so based on the clothing ... :)
Happy Thursday!
Love it... the privilege of age, to do what we want, and love it! I mean, what can they do to us, anyway, that life hasn't already in one form or another done? Hope you are able to do all that you want or need to today!
ReplyDeleteI'm envious. Still no friends here, it's been over 6 years I've lived here. I don't know how to make them, I guess. A lot who live here are in their 90's, and/or married, and a lot are very religious/Republican. I'm neither. And, I'm only 67, would appreciate someone closer to my age. Besides, I'm always working. The closest to a friend is/was my late neighbor who would have turned 91 this last summer, and the neighbor lady who lives next to her condo, who is 87, but we don't really click all that well. She is always so SERIOUS, and I always joke around. We do go out to eat from time to time.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, stay warm. It's 25 degrees here, cold for us.
