Keep your soul young!

It is  Monday, December 22nd-- " It's comin' up Christmas"--FOR SURE! --and Santa must be "pooped out"--poor old guy!

I see that Son#2  is flying somewhere warm with a plane full of people--So---the famous question--Are you ready for the big day?

I had a wonderful gift last night--The phone rang and it was my eldest brother's son--and he spoke of his Dad--my oldest brother--that he is living in a home, north of London, ON., is alive, and doing well--It was so nice to speak to  my brother's son--and hear that my brother is still in this world!-- He is going to put him on the phone to-day--

It is very very cold this AM--dark also-Lopez and I have not ventured out--yet!-but--the wash is done--the cat litter changed--have spoken to Son#2 , the Pilot---online here--AND -THIS DAY HAS BEGUN!
So, I hope today that you all will be "happy" -Maybe instead of shopping for any more gifts, what about , giving out "hugs"?? --I would like that!--We all need a hug!---
--and a few words  of wisdom--
#1. Do not rely on others for your happiness.
#2. Bite your tongue.
#3. Trust your instincts.--and----
                            and--Blasts from the past--
                                Hannah walking Willow, the dog

                                Hannah with her Dad, Son#2

Lopez and I must  get outside--  It will be cold--I might just put him in the yard----Are you feeling strong?--Are you happy?-- and--What would make you happy?? ---Think big thoughts--There is always more to life than what you see-__AND--Live with grace and intelligence , bravery and mercy----and-avoid negative people---and--keep your soul young.

  1. Good morning! It is nice with no snow in Ohio today. Yucky weather for Christmas it looks like. That is great you talked to your nephew and will talk to your brother today. That is fantastic! Going out to get a few things today and pick up a grocery order and a coffee. I hope your day is warm and wonderful. What are you doing for Christmas? Big hugs!

  2. Hi Lynda
Loved the words of wisdom. I so enjoy your positivity. Ain't always easy.... with your one son especially...but you do hang in.
Yes, send Lopez in the backyard. Thats why you fenced it
On the way to the gym. A few errands. House tidy done.
Glad to hear brother is doing well. Will be nice to speak with him.
What a gorgeous shepherd Willow was.
    Have a great day.

  3. Good morning, sis.

I don't believe Santa is too tired yet...he has the elves to do all that toy stuff, remember?

It's mostly sunny here and 33F...ABOVE FREEZING!

I am placing a grocery order, too, and just had to clean up cat vomit. That and the litter box are the downsides of having a cat. I prefer to think of the softness, the kitty leaning into me to be close...the purrs.

Avoid negative people? Well, I guess we're all negative at times, but I try to think of the positive side of things (like above with the cat)

IT'S GREAT THAT YOU HEARD FROM YOUR NEPHEW AND WILL TALK TO YOUR BROTHER! Those family connections are so heartwarming.

It may be a good idea to just let Lopez out in the yard today. Let's hope your temps will be warmer soon.

    Back later, Lynda...{{{HUGS}}} Love, Maggie

So glad you got to hear about your brother! Happy for you! I have not siblings left.....and I am the oldest one! I pray that they are in heaven (with Fred and my hubby) and are at peace! I am busy, busy, busy, preparing the food that can be made ahead of time for Christmas dinner, wrapping gifts, and cleaning house! So much to do before my CA kids fly in late tomorrow evening! Keep warm in all that cold and snowy weather! We are supposed to have temps in the 70's here on Christmas Day which is unusual for the metro St. Louis area!

  5. Good morning Lynda, happy to see your blog and it's positivity. Wonderful news about your brother doing well and so thoughtful of your nephew to ensure that you and your brother will talk. Absolutely put Lopez out in your fenced yard. He can come back into the house after doing his business. The forecast says we're going to have heavy rain on the 24th and 25th, so that has changed some of my Christmas plans.
I hope you don't have too much snow to shovel today.

  6. What would make me happy right now - is that I didn't have only $31 dollars in my account. I overspent, have no savings left, and am plum broke until the end of the month. One learns what little you really, really need to buy at the store. Very little, really, but even the very little adds up. I needed makings for the corn casserole I am taking to my family for Xmas, and I needed dog baggies and bags to put gifts in. ONE bag - $7! I had 6 I was going to buy, assuming they'd only be about $3, but nooooooooooooo....

    1. Do you have a Dollar Tree nearby? They had some beautiful Christmas gift bags this year, either $1.25 or $1.50 each. Probably can get most of the corn casserole fixins there, too.

  7. It's Kathy. Avoiding negative people is hard when I live with one!!! My dear husband can find the negative in any situation. It makes me feel sad for him that he can't see the good in things. He gets this way every Christmas and I get why - the first time I got together with his family at Christmas time it was pretty clear! I'm glad we don't have to see them anymore! We will have a fairly quiet Christmas at my daughter's home. She will go overboard cooking food and it will all be delicious! The little boys will run around like crazy but she had a good idea - open the presents first! Maybe then they'll be less crazy! Love your photos. Have a good rest of your day!

Oh to be somewhere warm! But at least the days will start getting longer now. Awesome.

All 3 of of your words of wisdom are WONDERFUL!

Hannah is such a sweetie! LOVE the photo of her w/the German Shepherd and w/her Dad. Such innocence @ that tender age!

I feel strong and happy. That is great!

  9. So glad you'll have a chance to chat with your brother. Those re-connections can be rare, like the one with my niece (3 years between?) Sweeter because of it!

Wishing you a week of peace, love, and light!

  10. Just a hi from me, Lynda. I have one more work day tomorrow, 9:30-2:30, and then going with my neighbor lady to her Christmas Eve service at her church, at 4. Her church is mostly elderly people, and maybe 12, if that. She says everyone else has died off. It's the church she grew up in and it's a very very tiny little town just down the street from here. They have a traveling minister from Liberia or somewhere. You cannot really understand him, LOL.
