Two Chihuahuas do not get along!

This is Sunday, February 22nd--dark--kinda cold--light snow overnight--Lola goes home today---Huge dog fight last evening--Lopez and Lola--  Just what I needed  eh?--  It started over their supper--I guess I put their bowls of food down too close together, and  right at my feet, a huge dog fight began and as I put my arm down to separate the 2 dogs, the fight got even worse-- screeching dogs--and me---  like 2 Chihuahuas screeching and out to kill-- and my arm in the middle trying to  separate them--Lord love a Duck!--I did manage to grab Lola--then Lopez by his sweater-- no bites to me, but both dogs walked away licking various parts of their legs and feet--

Needless to say, I learned that you never feed 2 Chihuahuas beside each other--no bites to me--  but the whole episode did scare the daylights out of me--Below--Lola with a sore leg--

Lopez--
I shall return--have to meet Dave for breakfast-- The wash machine is chugging away-

  2. Good Morning,
Yikes about the dog fight. Sounds like they are food aggressive and need to have their food bowls away from each other when eating. Sorry you had that happen but glad you are ok and I hope both dogs are ok too. Yes, dogs fighting is very scary and you risk getting hurt breaking them up. I was bit once on the thigh trying to break up my Great Dane and my sisters Boxer mix years ago.

Hope you have a nice breakfast with Dave. You might need a mimosa with your breakfast after the scuffle last night. ;-)

Have a good rest of your day and hopefully calm will remain until Lola is picked up.

    Hugs,
    Jackie

    1. I also think both dogs might be a little stressed because Lola misses her humans and Lopez is not used to having another dog in his home space.

  3. It's Kathy. When we take care of Annie who is Daisy's litter mate (sister) I always feed tDaisy first and then put Annie's bowl down on the other side of the room. They do love each other and I think they might remember being puppies together, but I'd rather be safe. I'm so sorry that happened to you - glad you didn't get hurt but I can only imagine how scary that was for you! Have a good day today.

  4. Good morning. I would simply put the food for Lola in another room and shut the door. And I would never take on Lola again. They can certainly just board her. It's too much for you to have to take on.

  6. Wow, a scary incident with the dogs, for sure. I'm glad YOU didn't come out of it with any wounds. Just a suggestion here, but it may be time for your son to think about shelling out a few bucks to board Lola at a pet hotel when they plan to be away. She can be monitored and pampered. As an alternative, Lola could stay in her safe place (home), and a dogsitter comes by a couple of times a day to check in and walk her.

  7. Oh, dear! I can't even imagine two chihuahuas! When I have "two dog" week, Ember goes for Carl's food, he goes for hers, and if I just leave them alone, they are both happy. (They eat different kinds of kibble). If there's a reason one or the other MUST have their own, I feed them in different spaces with a closed door between them.

Glad Lola and Lopez didn't bite you. Sorry they got each other, though.

    2. It was a pretty vicious dog fight with my arm in the middle--I did not get bitten but now have learned to never feed 2 dogs close together--even best in different rooms-- Yu might think Chihuahuas would be different---but NO_ THEY ARE VICIOUS! ---- and I do love them both--but---they do not have favourites-- out to kill anyone near their food--fortunate my arm wasn't chopped off--
never heard 2 dogs out to kill before--and I asm serious!--Lynda
