You're only old once...so make the best of it...

It is Saturday,  February the 7th--  very cold outside--  but sunny here--and the best part--NO SNOW FALLING--YET!----Lopez and I are up here--the wash machine, chugging away----I slept in  ---till now--Allison called me from OHIO__woke me up, which was a good thing-She misses her dog -sad eh??-- I told her to hurry up and look for another one-- in fact look for 2 --as one will keep the other company-(I think she  thinks I go over board somewhat -when it comes to pets--)

We used to always have 2 Shepherds--

I think the above were "Willow" and "Coal"----

It was our Granddaughter's Birthday last night and we all, (the whole family)-took her out to celebrate it!--It was fun to be together! --She  turned 12 years old--

- I need to get the dryer going--the heat maybe turned up--and Lopez out--(but it is quite cold out there!) I shall return--                              Meanwhile try to decide to be strong this morning--

a blast from the past--in Nova Scotia--Fred and I, on a bit of a holiday-                                    -obviously liked that place

and Himself, in our home on Dunlop Lake--

above--    Son#2 and another pilot----  ready to fly somewhere-These 2 boys were friends here in Elliot Lake--now, Air Canada pilots-
So--      #1. Let go of "what-ifs"--
#2.Look inside yourself for the strength to continue
#3.Try to stay ahead of events
It is a new day--  WE ARE A PART OF IT!-we  can be strong--

  2. Good morning, sis.

It's colder here today, too. Full sun and blue skies, though...and also no snow.

Your second words of wisdom today remind me of a sign I have hanging outside my door: Happiness begins within.

Love the photos! Good memories are always worth celebrating.

I have so many things I could do today that it's one of those days where I don't know what to do first. Except I always check this blog early whenever I can.

We are having a St. Valentine's Day get together in our Community Room. It's a 'potluck.' I am bringing my broccoli cheese casserole. It's like the traditional green bean casserole with the crispy onions EXCEPT I use baby broccoli florets and cheddar cheese soup. It always disappears quickly..

Well, dear Lynda, I wish you a happy, fulfilling and satisfying day with no snow to shovel. I will check back the at end of day for your comments to us, as always. {{{HUGS}}} Love, Maggie

  3. So nice that you could get out to attend your granddaughter's birthday party. I remember a photo from way back of her sitting in the back seat of the car with the cat next to her.

It seems as if you do a load of laundry just about every day -- is that a holdover habit from raising a bunch o' kids, or because your washer/dryer is so much smaller these days?

Isn't it nice to sleep in once in a while? Thumbs up to Lopez for not bugging you to get up and get going. Have a good weekend. / Leslie

  4. Hi, it's Marti.

TWO dogs actually are best, if you have a fenced yard. My two always entertained each other. Having one, and no fenced yard, and not healthy enough for long walks, my dog is always bored and bothering me, but I love him. He loves being outside and has been climbing the huge hills of snow in search of bird seed and such that he can eat. He's a regular gymnast, LOL. Speaking of gymnasts, did you watch the opening ceremony of the Olympics? I always watch the opening and closing ceremonies, and not any of the actual Olympics, I couldn't care less about those.

    Have a good day!

    Marti

  5. Good Saturday Morning,
We have sun here too. It's not warm but at least the sun is shining.
I look forward to my Saturdays when I get to sleep in.
Has Allison tried looking for a dog or two at rescues near her? Is she looking for a particular breed?
I would love to have another dog but I will have to wait because none of the cats I have now have been exposed to a dog and I think it might be too much for them. I haven't had a dog since I lost my Great Dane about 12 years ago. I still miss her.

Nice you all got together for your Grand Daughter's Birthday. Sounds like fun.
I enjoyed the pics you posted.
Wishing you a wonderful day with no snow and no shoveling!

    Hugs,
    Jackie

  6. Hi Lynda, as always, I enjoy the memorable photos you share with us as well as the words of wisdom. Happy to hear that you have no snow today. Lynda, if you can afford it, why don't you hire the two boys to clear the snow all the time, instead of you struggling with it? It would help you, and it seems it would help the two boys. When you and Dave go out for a meal, is it always at Son#1s restaurant or have you ventured out to other places? I hope your day goes well and I hope tomorrow is a snow free day as well.

  7. Hi Lynda! It is sunny and cold in Ohio. So much snow on the ground from the last storm. Yes, Allison might as well get two dogs. Our first yorkie we had for a few years and got another one. Years later that one passed and we got another one. So we have a 10 year old and a two year old. Stay warm. Enjoy your day! Hugs!

  8. It's Kathy. Yes, my mom also taught me to be strong and to stand up for myself. I'm not sure about my grandma though. My grandpa was an alcoholic in their early years of marriage so she must have been strong. When I knew him he was just a happy Norwegian man! Tom and I went out for brunch today. It was nice to eat out and I'm still full at 3 in the afternoon. I hope your day is going well. How nice that you got to be with your family for your granddaughter's birthday. My grandson Samuel is 7 today but he's about 300 miles away from us. And north where it's even colder. No sunshine for us today but warming up again tomorrow. Have a good day.

  9. Just playing "blog catch-up" this evening! I see we're all still breathing, and that's a good thing! Love the two-dogs in the water photo. Two big dogs are a lot of company.

  10. I bet Allison will get another dog when she’s ready. I know I would but it takes a little time to be ready.

Happy Birthday to your granddaughter. 12 is a special age!

What great blasts from the past.

Great advice to look inside yourself for the strength to continue.

Definitely learned to be strong from Mom and my Grandmas and Aumts. God bless them!

    Hugs and stay warm.

  11. Hi Lynda: I'm glad someone else asked about doing laundry every day! I couldn't figure out how you always had so much laundry to be doing it daily. Glad you all got together for your granddaughter's birthday. I also think it would be good to have to dogs to entertain each other. Unfortunately I am not physically able to look after two so mine just bothers me all the time. Have a good night. Brenda
