Well, Son #2 is in Holland-- Can you tell by the wooden shoes?--- He says people wear them--walk around the streets in them--and---below----another picture of Holland--so pretty eh??--
-below--- of course --his breakfast
IT looks delicious!
I am trying to get to know Lakefield--like--What is available for me here?-- Can I live here?-- I went out yesterday to meet the people sitting on lawn chairs behind our building--and to-day I shall walk over to the Community centre and check if they need volunteers for anything--like--Could there be something I could help them with??
--Son #1 is now in Toronto with is family--I was thinking of returning to Elliot to visit and see how I would feel going back there, but---- it was not to be--- He did not want to bring me-- so----- We shall see what we shall see--eventually--
I hear cloudy skies to-day--- here--- --I must call the vet also, as Lopez and Sushi probably need their shots , and I hear "Ticks" are out-- so that is another story--
And no matter what, we MUST BE STRONG---not to get discouraged--- keep going forward---
Another postive blog dear dear friend. One day at a time.
ReplyDeleteYes, volunteers are always needed. Cold better?
Big hugs
Still have the cold-- horrible!! Lynda

DeleteGood morning, sis. You are as busy a person as I am...and the rest of us, too, I guess.
ReplyDeleteDoes Son #1 think you should stay in Lakeville? Maybe he just didn't want to bring you to visit Elliot cuz he would have then had to return you to Lakeville?
It's a great idea to volunteer. It's a very fulfilling way to serve others.
I was once, for quite awhile, a volunteer for the Red Cross.
Weather here is cooler today. I need to shut the windows. The heat is still off, though.
Soon I will leave to pick out my new car and trade in the old one. I can hardly wait.
I was hoping to see more photos of you granddaughter dancing. Maybe you didn't get a chance to snap them. I did see the ones of her and her dad yesterday.
I will reply again when I return from the car place to tell you what happened. Need to check now if my friend is getting ready to leave. She is usually way behind in preparations for any event.
{{{HUGS}}} Love, Maggie
Good morning, Lynda…I love that you are putting yourself out there to see what friendships, opportunities are available in Lakefield for you! You might just find it a desirable place to live….your happiness and fulfillment is your new project!! Hugs, Eissa7 (Karen)
ReplyDeleteJust take your time figuring out the path forward, and bit by bit, it will become clearer. Maybe not the whole path, but the next step or two, at least. My son calls it "do the next right thing"... and sometimes it's heavy work to do even that ONE next right thing, and you get a bit tired of it all... but it's still the best gift to ourselves!
ReplyDeleteWow! You are amazing. Getting out and trying to move forward with your life. This is a time of discovering and coping with what it is to be a widow, what your future looks like, and what will ultimately be your best decision as to where to live, and you are making that effort and I hope you feel good about that. And do not worry if some days are spent down and teary eyed. It is a process.
ReplyDeleteAs for Son #1, it sounds like he had planned a bit longer trip and your request didn’t fit in with that. Give it time and talk to the Eliot Lake sons about your desire to visit for a couple of weeks, perhaps in June. Maybe if they have time to plan, something could be worked out.
Sending hugs and encouragement. Susan in Colorado
Good day to you as well, Lynda. I hope the weekend was satisfying. How wonderful for you to go out and meet neighbors. I like the idea that you're going out to find an opportunity to volunteer. Wherever you end up volunteering, they will love you as we do. You are a bright spark that they will soon discover. As far as what your future may hold, think of being at the bottom of a staircase. It may seem daunting to reach the top, but if you think of it as only one step at a time, it's more manageable.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day.
Maureen from California
It's Kathy. I like that you're getting out a bit. I hope you liked your neighbors sitting in the lawn chairs. That also must mean that it's warming up some. We had a lovely weekend, but not it's cold and windy with possible rain coming. But I have a busy day ahead with no time to walk Daisy. I hope one day I can get back to getting up early and getting out with her - my long range goal! I have to call the vet today too. The vet we had since she was a puppy has retired so we're going to try a new vet closer to home. We'll see! I hope you have a good day today!
ReplyDeleteThis is my opinion but I have thought about it.I think for now Lake field is a good option.Much easier place to live and close to son #2,but still available to other sons if they want to make an effort and closer to your daughter.I looked up Lake field on my map app and there are Museums nearby, walking paths and Riverview Park and Zoo!It looks like a cool library too.Selwyn Public library.Looks like a sweet little town💙
ReplyDeleteHi Lynda: Really glad you got out to meet some of your neighbours. And that your going to look at volunteering at the community centre. You won't know if you will like it there until you do those things. Sounds like your sons in Elliott aren't crazy about having you return there. Visits for a while may be more appropriate for now. Re the ticks, etc. my dog now gets medication I can squeeze in her back every three months as they are now active here all year now that the climate has changed. (so my vet says!) Love the pictures. Would love to see Holland some day - although I never will. Did buy some tulips the other day. Hope you get out to find your way around town more - I'm sure Matt or his wife can help you. Take care. Hugs Brenda

ReplyDeleteGot a meme today from a friend. "Stay strong. One day you will be able to look back and say I made it!" Don't worry about the when this should happen, just work toward it by the hour as others have recommended.

Hi Lynda,
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine wearing those wooden shoes. Holland looks lovely. Matt sure enjoys food. No McDonalds? Lol
I'm so PROUD of you for getting out, talking to people and being willing to give Lakefield a fair try. Check out volunteering at the library or the Sr.Center. Way to go.
Did you not make it to Charlees dance performance?
I didnt like that #1 son wasn't interested in driving you along to Elliott. Maybe he didn't want to drive you back. See if you can "arrange" a visit for a week or so that's convenient to the boys. Isn't #1 the one that didn't want you to sell big house? Maybe he didn't want to deal with Lopez or Sushi. Who knows
Getting to know your town could change your opinion. It is closer to daughter and Matt is a gem. Unfortunately, the 3 in EL weren't helpful when you lived there. Anyway, so proud of you for getting out there and finding things new to you and finding something to enjoy away from apartment.
Stay strong
Hugs, love. Prayers

Hi Lynda, Good for you!! It's always nice to volunteer. It takes away some of the cloudy days in our lives while helping others. Blessings! Donna_cps2 Lansing, IL
ReplyDeleteGood evening, Lynda! I am so proud of you for meeting people and looking into volunteer opportunities and trying to fit in there. Guving it a chance. That is fantastic! Beautiful day in Ohio. I did not sleep well because I was supposed to have labs this morning. I went. The doctor did not put in the orders from last year check up. It happened last year, too. No orders. They made several calls. I waited and waited. I left. I have wanted to find a new doctor so I will. So I picked up coffee and breakfast and done yard work, after knocking over my coffee. I shall sleep well tonight. Geez. How was your day? Hugs!
ReplyDeleteHolland! The breakfast looks yummy. It's interesting to see and taste what other people eat; sometimes it's vastly different. Others, same foods prepared differently or eaten for different meals. I was able to visit Amsterdam in 1975 when I was in the Army, only for a couple of days. But so lovely.
ReplyDeleteOh, I think it's great that you're getting out, meeting some people and looking at what volunteer and fun activities might be available. Regardless of where you ultimately decide to live, if you wait the full year to make any big decisions it gives you a chance to see what's on offer. Since Spring has sprung, there may be local performances or events you could attend; often they have information about other things to do and/or information about volunteering. On a Saturday morning here where I live there's a farmers' market in the civic park and I pop over there some Saturdays. There's always music, people selling crafts, produce, various foods. I enjoy just being out around other people and interacting. Sometimes I run into folks I know, sometimes not.
It's too bad Son #1 put the kibosh on a visit ... I think that would sting a little bit. But, good to be aware that's how it is. He might or might not explain why, but it's information you can weigh into your decision making process when near the end of your apartment lease.
It's the Holy Week, and Easter is this Sunday. Will you being going to any special events at church? Sometimes they have special services, and lovely music leading up to Sunday, and then of course Sunday Easter services are always so joyful.
Happy Monday!!
