Be Happy and Strong and Wise--

Today  is Wednesday, January the 14th---Still very dark outside--and snowy--and cold--Lopez, Sushi and I are all up--Yesterday, a snow day, was a lot of work--shovelling almost all day--and then, a miracle happened--a neighbour appeared on his 4 wheeler--pushed many tons of snow away  from the car--I was so so grateful--When the snow plow passes, he pushes snow into my driveway-(-His plough is on a slant, and as he passes, heavy wet snow is shoved  right into the driveway--)

The wash machine is chugging away--It is so hard to get out of bed when it is so dark--and cold--although I had been up earlier to turn up the heat--then went back to the warm cozy bed--

So this is January--We have February--then March--March it usually gets milder--  Thank goodness!---The wash is now in the dryer-- YEAHHH!!

Wise Words  I wish I  had thought of--

#1.-Do not Rely on your wits alone

#2.The key to failure is trying to please everyone-

#3.If you know nothing, say nothing.

AND---  We really are, at our age, very smart--because we have learned to be that way , over the years--and I find, even my children believe that as we age, we lose some of our wits--Do you find that?--Little do they realize that we have gained more "wits"--at out "older age"--

                      So--  Blasts from the past--

The  photo below,  is my Mom and Dad -- They were living in Northern Ontario--Dad was  a Civil Engineer-surveying up in Northern Ontario, preparing for a new road , which probably is Highway#17 which we use all the time now going to Sudbury or the SOO -and in his spare time, was fishing with Mom-Looks like Mom had just caught a fish!

Hannah playing in the leaves, above
I think it was my Birthday--many moons Ago--
So many memories -so much going on--Such happy occasions--
But--  that was then--this is now--
Tempus Fugit--"Time flies--!"
I must get off of here--  always snow to shovel-- pets to feed--Laundry to finish--and then there is the vacuuming--and--I need a coffee--
So, try to stay strong--  and be as happy as you possibly can--It is a new day and here we are--a part of it--

  1. Good morning, sis.

We are due to get snow, too. And it is to be much colder today. There's none falling yet. In fact, we have a beautiful, blue and sunny sky.

My mama used to say, "You can please some of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time."

"Be happy" is the best advice. Also remembering that beliefs are just thoughts and YOU CAN CHANGE THEM by thinking other thoughts.

Hopefully, no one will ask me to take them anywhere today. I want today to just be for me and Lucky. (did you read my comment yesterday? And following that was another friend asking me to take him for RX drugs and lottery tickets)

I have a kitchen to clean today and vacuuming, too. I see some stuff that needs putting away. I will also check the laundry room to see if anyone is using it.

Love your blasts. The birthday party looks like it was fun...and a great memory with your mom and day. Not even to mention Hannah and the leaves.

It seems to me that our memories change as we get older. I read online that our short term memory declines, but our long term memory improves.

Back later, Lynda. {{{HUGS}}} Love, Maggie

  2. Good morning Lynda,
I goggled at don't be a poop head. Thanks.
I really enjoy the words of wisdom. Thanks for sharing.
It will all work out in the end but if it doesnt...its not the end.
Stay positive, warm and stop worrying.....we can only change what we control and thats our perception, response and attitude.
    Have a good one.
    Hugs from cold St.Louis

  3. Hi Lynda, it's Kathy. How nice of your neighbor to come and plow out some of that very heavy snow. I totally understand. We live on a very busy road and the plows go by several times - Tom clears the end of the driveway several times on snowy days because it is very heavy! And I'm with you - these cold and dreary days make it really hard to leave a warm bed! Love the photos. And I believe that our years on this earth make us wiser, not less wise. We have lived through so many things and learned along the way. Maybe our children can use electronic devices better than we can (my grandchildren are better than me), but we do have wisdom. When my oldest daughter argues with me I find myself reminding her that I will ALWAYS be 24 years older than her! Have a good day.

  4. Like fine wine - we get better with age! :-) And I think we are lifelong learners....seems like I am learning something new almost every day! Today I need to learn how to better read those crazy instructions so I can put together my new coffee table....whatever happened to furniture that came to our homes in one piece and were very good, solid wood? There are no words in these instructions! Just pictures of legs and screws and pieces with letters on them that don't always show the best angles! I might need to call one of my kids to help me if I can't figure it out! Please don't wear yourself out shoveling all that snow! Stay inside and read a good book or play your piano for Lopez and Sushi!

  5. Hi Lynda! Yes, the healing power of coffee. Magic bean water as I call it. I had a paczki with mine this morning. How nice of the guy on the four wheeler to move your snow. That’s a bummer the snow plow puts it in your drive. No snow in Ohio but a couple inches tonight. I hope you have a warm, restful day! Hugs!

  6. Hi Lynda, really no one here but the dog for me to tell my day to, so tag, you are it! :)

Today we went to our "new office," a big warehouse that is in the back of a new Goodwill store, for orientation. I do NOT like authoritative types at all, and we had THE most annoying authoritarian type lady training us. I was fit to be tied, and either behind or way ahead of everybody else. If I touched something she didn't want us to touch she was right there yelling at us not to touch it, and if we didn't jump ahead, she was yelling at us, too! So when I waited for her to start training us on the new photo editing software, turns out everybody had already started on their own, but I WAS NOT TOLD to do this. I was expecting TRAINING. So then she yells at me, or it felt like it, that we were to have started in on our own. Poor management! They should have pinned a note on my back: "does not play well with others," LOL. No really. Just tell me what to do and when (and HOW) to do it and I will. But not in an authoritarian voice like I was five. But anyway, after they fed us pizza and the "training" was over, I was fine. I can't wait to just have her out of there and we are in the new building - Monday or Tuesday, I guess. I guess we have to move all the stuff out of there ourSELVES. A big warehouse full of items that we have posted and haven't sold yet! And then the shelves themselves. And we have two shippers - who will have to be in two places at one time -

BIG change for me. I work part-time, I sell things online through Goodwill, and have been in a room ALL ALONE, which is total bliss, with total control, in control of the air conditioning, the heat, and how clean the room is, for 4.5 yrs, and now I'll be thrown in a room with 12 or so other people. It will be a HUGE adjustment. I also talk out loud to myself and cuss and swear. Should be interesting! Ha!
