Being a Woman is a "great adventure"----

It is Saturday January the 10th-- I am late posting here as my blood work , taken at the medical clinic, came back all crazy--way way out of whack-- much too high--so, now I have been referred to an Endocrinologist, either in Sault St Marie or Sudbury--Both cities are about 2 hrs from here-Can you believe all that??-- Lordy Be!

One thing I have learned is not to take the  Thyroxin pills with meals--which I have been doing-- I have had this low thyroid thing, for many years and it has always been stable--never ever has it been going all crazy--  till Fred got ill--while in Lake Field--  It was stabilized out there--  and now it is all crazy again--  Lord love a duck eh?---My daughter read that I should not take the meds with a meal--  so, I guess we shall see--My Mom had Addison's Disease--I never want that!!

So--Life goes on I guess--  I hope anyway--

A Blast from the past--below--Son#3---Emma's Father--

and Emma --below--now in her 2nd yr University

Hannah---finished University now-
So-  I must get off of here--

  2. Good morning, Lynda! Yes, being a woman is more like a roller coaster ride! Gosh, hope you get your thyroid balanced. Nice of Allison to look out for you! I know she is an amazing nurse like you! Enjoy your day. Try to rest and everything will work out fine. You have great doctors there. Sorry it’s not right there in town. Hopefully, one of the boys or their wives can take you. Cute pics today. Thanks for sharing. Big hugs from Ohio!

  3. Hi Lynda
Don't start worrying yet....I know you do worry. It will all be okay. Maybe taking meds with meals is problem and that will correct itself. Im hoping.
Hang in. It will all be ok.

  4. Good Morning Lynda,
Sorry to hear about your blood test results. I hope when you make the appointment, someone will be able to take you so you don't have to go by yourself. Two hours is a long way for a Dr. But, I hope they are able to give your some answers for your why your blood work was so off.
I see an endocrinologist for my osteoporosis. Luckily, she is only about 20 minutes away.
Don't let the results get you down. Wishing you a stress free and happy day!

    Hugs,
    Jackie

  5. Good morning, sis.

Right on my bottle of thyroid pills it says, "take half an hour before eating or 2 hours afterward." Wonder why they didn't put that on your label?!

    Son #3 is adorable!

Weather here is tolerable. It's sunny, but cold...only 19F with a possibility of snow showers.

I hope you have clear roads when you go to your far away appointment! Or that you can get a ride. That would be even better.

I have a few small chores (seems like they feel bigger as we get older) to do today.

I just cleaned out a drawer hoping to find what I was looking for. I didn't find it, but I found other interesting things.

Here's a quote for you. Next month in the US we are celebrating Martin Luther King, Jr. day. My favorite quote from him is, "Darkness cannot drive out darkness. Only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate. Only Love can do that."

I'll get to my day, Lynda. You get to yours. I will be back later to see how your day went. {{{HUGS}}} Love, Maggie

  6. It's Kathy. Sorry to hear about your blood work coming back with issues. That is never fun. But you have been going through so much in this past year. I would think all that would take it's toll on your body! Hopefully the doctors can get you stable again. We're back to the cold today - not my favorite kind of day. Yesterday was sunny and warm, felt so good to stand outside and feel the sunshine. I don't dare venture out into the yard because so much of it is ice below the snow. I hope you have a good day today!

  7. Good morning Lynda, I don't have a thyroid problem, but I have siblings who do as well as friends, and they've been instructed to take their thyroid medication one hour before breakfast. Surely there must be instructions on the pill bottle. However, as I write this, I remember you saying that you were paying the pharmacy to prepare pill cases for you. That would mean that you don't have the necessary instructions. Talk to the pharmacist and ask them to give you a printout of instructions for each medication you're taking. That could be the problem. Ask one of your sons to drive you to the appointment with the Endocrinologist. A two hour drive in winter weather is more than you should be expected to handle. Please try to relax. Play your piano today and enjoy the weekend.

  8. Hi Lynda - please please try not to worry - yes, it's something new, but (I imagine) NOT likely to be cancer, my BIGGEST worry, and if not, then probably treatable with meds. It might be time consuming and a pain to figure out, but they will figure it out.

Meanwhile, I will pray for you!

  9. Oh my dear. I hear you about thyroid medication. Have Hasnimoto’s thyroiditis (autoimmune hypothyroid). My #’s always have to be checked spring/summer and fall/winter as they go up and down. . . which means the medication dose is changed. I learned not to take it w/meals and in fact, learned it’s best to take it before bedtime. That’s what works for me. Not supposed to take it with coffee, either. I NEED my morning coffee! LOL

To say the least, stress, like caregiving, makes you release tons of cortisol, which affects your thyroid and blood sugar #’s. I have to take time for myself! And . . . the affects of the increased Cortisol last for awhile.

LOVE the blast from the past photos.

For sure, being a woman is a great adventure!

hugs and blessings. Good luck w/the blood work.

  10. Hi Lynda, I have been taking thyroid medication for 23 years. I was told, and I always follow the instructions, that it has to be taken first thing in the morning, a half hour before eating, and you should not take anything with calcium in for 4 hours before, and 4 hours afterwards. Also don't take vitamins for 4 hours after taking the medication. Hope this helps. Mary (Reverie girl spark)

  11. Sorry to hear your bloodwork was not the greatest. It is always something as we grow older. Try taking the meds as directed and get the appointment with the specialist . That is all you can do for the moment. Take care. Susan/Colorado

  12. Well, the out-of-whack blood work is not a good thing. But they're having you see a specialist, not telling you to head to the emergency room, which means it's not optimal but is correctable. That's a good thing. Hopefully one of your kiddos or a friend can drive you over to see the specialist if the weather's really bad.

    Happy Saturday.
