The power went out last evening ---twice! -- You see, it was almost bedtime--then--BOOM--- no power--and the house was in complete darkness---"Black as the Ace of Spades"--as Mom used to say--
-This time I called Hydro One----- They are now all automated-- You cannot speak to a real live person anymore-- eventually, they sent me a text, saying , "The estimated time of restoration of Power was 10pm"-----It was now 9pm----
"Let's just go got bed", I told Himself------ Well, by the time we had just climbed into bed, BOOM, on came the Power--- But-- Now the freezer was buzzing---- the dishwasher was ringing---
"I'll get up and turn everything off", I told Himself------so, running up and down, 3 floors--- turning Humidifiers back on--checking the garage door-- the freezer---- The list was endless of machinery to either turn on or off--- I eventually did climb back to bed--- "You know, my leg hurts", I told Himself--so, he said, "I'll get yu a Tylenol"----
I was "all in"--- Pooped--- too "pooped to pop"--- I suppose I was the statue--
Not a good time of year to have the power go off and on! Glad it's back on "for now" and hope it stays that way. Meanwhile, down here south of y'all, it has decided to be Winter again after teasing us with three days of milder. Single digits above, F... brrr!
ReplyDeleteStay safe, warm and dry!
How awful to lose your power like that just before bedtime! And especially now in the winter when we need it so much. We are having a dozy of a snow storm today and it was Daisy's Spa Day! Thank the good Lord that my husband who usually works on Tuesday morning was able to stay home so he could drive us up there. I'm so ready for Spring!
ReplyDeleteOh no! Snow is back here with us and some single digits temps. So glad that everything came back on. That was quite the workout you got going up and down the stairs.
ReplyDeleteHope the power has stayed on! I would be hoping for a lightweight down sleeping bag to snuggle in.
ReplyDeleteHoping things will 'normalize' power-wise...
ReplyDeleteThe power going out is not a happy thing. Thank goodness it popped back on so you didn't get up to a cold cold cold house.
ReplyDeleteWhat an adventure with the power. Hope power stayed on all day. I bet you were exhausted checking on everything in your large house.
ReplyDeleteHoping today was better for you.
Winter has returned after 2 days of Springlike weather in St.Louis. Snow, ice, cold temps, wind has returned.
Stay warm and well.
Hugs dear lady.
Good heavens, what a night! No lack of exercise for you. After hitting 85 yesterday, we had a huge hailstorm after 3:00AM, temp went down into the 30’s, down into the 20’s by morning, and next day, then back up! And this is Texas. We need to keep those small flashlights stashed in every room, just in case. Plus have two regular lamps that go on, by themselves, when power goes off. They look like regular lamps, with a shade on…so everything does not go black suddenly.
ReplyDeleteHoney, we HAVE the power...well, usually.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a hard night. Hopefully, this one will be better.
My sin and daughter in law and all 6 kids went on a dolphin encounter today the Hilton resort complex. Swimming with a dolphin has been a dream of mine for 40 years!
To think in a few days I go back to cold and snow almost like you have. I will soak up the son and love on the kids as much as I can.
{{{HUGS}}}
Woops! My SON...
ReplyDeleteHope your power stayed on all day today. This is not the time to lose power.
ReplyDeleteI have discovered that we are going back to colder weather. I woke up last night so cold and I could not figure out why until I remembered I had forgotten to turn the heat back on. It was a beautiful day yesterday and I opened my windows for a little bit to air my place out. They were not open long but long enough I forgot to turn on the heat. The sun heats this place up nicely in the day.
Hope you get a good night sleep tonight.
I am so glad your power came back on last night. It is no fun to be without it. For me it means a night without much sleep because my hubby is such a worrier and will not be quiet. Today, in mid Michigan we had rain and temperatures in the mid 40s F, The weather has been so crazy this winter, one day light jackets and the next heavy winter coats. I'm ready for it to be spring.
ReplyDeleteHave a good rest of your evening.
Beth M.
It is a little after 2 AM here in Alabama...just could not sleep.
ReplyDeleteI can so sympathize....hate it when power goes off....reset a million
clocks etc.
So glad that, despite the inconvenience, your power came back on. And I hope the Tylenol helped your leg. AND hope today, you're the pigeon and not the statue!

OMG! I'm glad it came back. I hope you had time to rest well during yesterday's day.
ReplyDeleteWow, winter and a power shortage. Not a good thing. I am glad that it came back on.
