Don't Look Back-You're Not Going That Way!

I tend to look back----go over what has gone on--cry a little because of some of it---  It's true tho---I am NOT going that way---This has been a good week for walking--for me--  It's not that I go far--It's that I go!-----And the more days I go, the stronger I feel. My enormous struggle is in that easy chair, after supper---crazy foods just appear in my hand.  I shall continue to work on that.

Everyday , Himself and I have a rest, after lunch-----and I feel so much better for getting that wee rest--even 30 minutes-----I find however that people look at me funny, if I say, "Well, don't come and visit until after 2pm because we take a rest,--- AND THEY COME ANYWAY----And-----phone calls from everyone in the world seem to come in  at our nap time. I think the whole world thinks we are ancient---that we don't really need a nap-----that maybe we are making it up--and then, sometimes, I book dental appointments during our nap time--  I forget------- (Maybe I am ancient like people think!)----  The new dog groomer booked Beau for his grooming  tomorrow at our nap time and I was so happy that she could take him, that  even I forgot about  the precious "nap time"--

So, Lord love a Duck !--More and more our "Nap time" is falling by the wayside --(Mom's expression ) and Himself and I cannot allow this! It is that short time in our day that we recharge our batteries and it keeps up going till night time-  (Maybe we really are  becoming ancient eh?-)

----You think the Queen gets a wee nap in the day?  Hmm--I must look into this!

It's a good thing I don't care what people think!---(At least I don't think I do!-----LOLOL)

  2. I don't take time for a nap during the day because then I would not sleep at night. We go to bed early and I get up early.

    Have a great Thursday

  3. Nap time is recommended these days, proven to be helpful. Unfortunately, people who have to work can’t do it, but some of their bosses do, lol. At we folks who were NOT born yesterday, a nice little nap is a good thing. It’s like charging your cell phone….

  4. I personally am not a napper because I feel awful and groggy when waking. . . but my sister likes her nap to recharge. Each of us is individual. I go to bed each night between 11:30 and midnight and wake each morning between 7:30. I also sleep very well. This works for me.

  5. Yes, hubby and I always take a nap time after lunch and it is really important and like you I am not a fan of people interrupting it.

  6. Turn the ringer off on the phone and put a sign on the front door (Napping, please come back after 2 PM). If people don't like it, too bad! :)

  7. I enjoy a short nap each day and I am still able to sleep at night. Enjoy your day!

  8. Lynda, I know! I have a routine I like to follow. Not a nap, usually, but time for FB, PC games, chores, meditation, errands. People always seem to want me then...for conversation, help, taking them somewhere. Usually I do as they request. I forget that I need to take care of myself...my exercise, my peace of mind...first.

    Hope the new groomer works out well for you! {{{HUGS}}}

  9. My father (a dairy farmer) had a nap every day after lunch because he got up so early to milk cows. I know my grandmother had a 'rest' in the afternoon. Some days I have a nap and feel better for it. Now 'they' are telling us that it is a good idea. It is nice to hear something I can agree with.

  10. It seems to never fail that I get a phone call 5 minutes after I've laid down in the afternoon. My phone doesn't ring all day long... until I lay down! I don't nap every day but there are days where I just need to let my body rest a bit! Hope you and himself can continue to have your rest time.

  11. My husband grew up in a napping family. His father used to say, "I'm home between 2:00 and 4:00 on Sunday afternoons and I hope you are too." His sister raised her kids to honor nap time. My husband isn't one to "officially" take a nap, but he will conk out while reading the paper and say he's just resting his eyes!

  12. I wish I could nap. I rest my eyes but that’s all as I can hear what’s going on. Maybe I should turn off the radio too. Have a good day Lynda. 👍

  13. For me to be refreshed, a nap needs to be at least 1-1/2 hours once I finally fall asleep! Not so sure that qualifies as a nap. For many years spouse has taken a power nap after lunch for 20 minutes -- no alarms necessary. Pre-Covid he would go to his car in the parking garage and nod off for 20 minutes.

  14. I think if I were to ever take a nap during the day that I probably wouldn't sleep that night. Now I don't know that for sure but maybe I should try it. Every day at 4:45 in the afternoon I start yawning and even on Saturday afternoon when we go to church. 4:45 and of course that is the time the priest is giving his sermon. Wouldn't ya know.

  15. Good idea to have a rest in the afternoon. My DH always lies down for a nap after lunch and so do the kitties. I sometimes have a rest mid-afternoon but not usually a nap. But then I am not an early bird. I am a night owl.

  16. I love naps. That is one of the greatest joys I give myself. Sleep well.

  17. My rest time is necessary for me to make it through the day sometimes. I may nap or not. It does recharge my battery to get through the evening. I've learned to silence my phone since it always seem someone is calling. They know I'll return their calls. Rest is good!

Have a great day, Lynda 😍

  18. Thanks for this blog Lynda. Reading this I realized what I had stopped doing and need to start ASAP. That is taking a nap in the afternoon. I don't sleep that well at night so by mid day I am ready to crash but lately I just kept pushing my body to keep going. As of today I hope to stop that and take my much needed nap. Even if I am just laying listening to music with my eyes close that should help but as tired as I am at the moment I might be able to sleep. Taking a nap for me does not make it so I can't go to sleep at night at a reasonable time.

Hope Beau likes the new groomers.

Enjoy your naps they ARE GOOD FOR YOU!!!

  19. Lynda, turn off your phone and just don't answer the door at naptime. To heck what anyone thinks, it's YOUR time, your life!

Yep, I betcha the Queen naps and you can be sure no one bothers her at those times. Let's pretend we're the Queen, lol. Hugs!

  20. It's good if you can get a nap. I'm not able to nap or I won't sleep at night but wish I could. Silence the phone ringing and call back when your nap is done. They are good for you. Hope Beau likes the new groomer.

  21. Have to agree . . . turn off the phone for that 1/2 hr. Don't answer the door! Your time is precious!

  22. Yes, a wee nap after lunch is very refreshing, and you're worth it!

  23. I bet the Queen does nap. Treat yourself to a nap.
Great job on the daily walks. Remember your water when sitting in that comfy chair in the evenings.
Hoping Beau is good with new groomer.
    Take care of you. Hugs

  24. Naps are good. I get one some days. And then there is Sunday, I get anywhere from one to three hours. It gets me through the week and I feel great. Take care.

  26. Oh, yeah, a nap can really help sometimes! Yesterday, I needed a nap, and I kept putting it off. Then I took one, late in the afternoon, and no one could wake me up for dinner and I slept until the next morning! Maybe you could reschedule the dog groomer? Some people find it easier to consult a planner when they make appointments. It could help you, to block out that time.

  27. My husband and I sit and relax after 2:00 after we have gone for separate rides in our two cars. We sit with Nemo (my daughter's dog between us) on the porch sofa watching TV. It is great! Edmond tells me all about his dreams that he has had the night before. He is 82 and tells me how he feels dizzy and different symptoms. I tell him to send a message to his doctor. We both like using our computers to catch-up on news, Facebook. We will be celebrating our 56th anniversary on Saturday.

  28. We seem to enjoy our morning naps or time of refreshing. And then again, appointments tend to pop up and "cancel" that plan. Enjoy the rest!

  29. I require a nap and go to bed early, too. It makes a big difference in my energy level.

  30. I am sure HRM does take a daily nap after her horseback ride.
Schedule everything around your nap. As my neighbor says, "Naps are our
    friend."
Sorry I have missed posting on some of the blogs, but I have read them
all. David is just giving me no time to do much of anything.
    Sending hugs,

  31. I am afraid to take a nap! Will I sleep at night? Hmmmm, maybe I should check it out. You can set your cell phones to silent hours during your nap or as suggested earlier just turn the house phone ringer off. You do better I am sure after a nap. I had two elderly cousins, if I visited them during the morning boy they were sharp! If it was in the afternoon they were very sluggish. (((HUGS))) Susiemt
