Well, at least there are good things about being older than old!

I like the above saying--- I am trying to not take life so serious ---look at "stuff" differently!---This morning Himself showed considerable concern for me  as I was going out for my walk. you see, I have extended "the walk" thru the bush" to the boat launch, and then back up the highway and home. "You never know what you might meet in the bush" Himself was telling me--"Well, at my age, I don't need to worry about being raped" I replied--- Lord love a Duck eh?---  There is always something good about being "older than old."
I always feel that it would be kinda nice to have phone calls , with grown children telling their Mom how much they love them. They do  express their love in so many ways--cutting grass--carrying the pump up from the lake--calling their Dad---  all that is "family love"-- ways to express  it!
Right now we are in a storm---rain pounding down--  I never remember a summer with so many storms around us--tornados too--- kinda different! ----  Some days it feels like "Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz" here!

This picture was sent , of food, in Seoul, Korea, where Son #2 is right now.---Korean foods-- different and so good!
I must add too, that there is NO ICE CRAM in this house--and that is different too!
I hope you get out and walk-- even 10 minutes!

  1. You are only as old as you feel Lynda! Some days I do feel older than old too but today I feel energized after my aerobics class. I still have ice cream here but only plan to buy some when my grandson is here. Do hope I can manage to do that as some days my willpower is not great. Sounds your your son enjoys Seoul and the food there. We were there in 2000 for my daughter’s wedding and had a good time. We did eat a few things that were strange to us but it was a good place to visit. Have a good day in the rain. We are supposed to get some too as well as thunderstorms again. It has been a strange summer this year! ⛈ 👍

  2. We all need ice cream in the house! There are certainly more storms this summer! Here in NY area we get pounded and the rain comes down in torrents for hours. Happy to see you blogging again!

  3. Lynda, Fred's concerns over your walks are legitimate ones! I read where bears are now looking for more food before hibernating & although you aren't their food, they may feel threatened that you are between them & their food! Be extra cautious and don't go through the bush now, please. We are getting lots of thunderstorms right now, booming thunder! One is coming today/tonight! Take care. <3

  5. I think you should carry a bear horn! You need to scare the bears--or men--when you see them get too close! There are some crazies out there, Lynda. They are bad, so you don't expect them... Because you are good! So get a bear horn or something like that! Or mace! Men don't like maced! I'm glad you got a walk in. I think most weird guys sleep in, and drink all night. But you never know!

  7. Get yourself a bear bell for your walks. We had a bear take down our empty feeder this summer. . . never had bears where we lived in VT but here in NH is a different story. We are expecting your rain to get here tonight and tomorrow.

  10. Happy you have returned. Our weather here in south central Wi is pretty cool today. My thermometer says 70 and there is a cool wind. I think you do need a bear bell though. Careful out there Lynda!

  11. I got within ten feet of a brown bear in one of the U.S. National Parks which definitely caught my attention and caused an adrenaline rush! I stood real still and breathed a sigh of relief at the bear stared briefly before turning around and heading another direction.

  12. A bear horn does sound like a good piece of equipment the kids ought to "gift" you! Hope you are safe and dry, and avoiding the downpour! Be safe and well, and keep Sparking!

  14. Take something with you when out walking anywhere, in case you fall, that is more likely to happen, then meeting a bear….your voice will not carry well. Enjoy time out in fresh air.

  16. I'm behind again. I understand being so busy that you have to let some things go. I'm not that busy but have been having a real hard time with my legs - seems I may have to have the other knee replaced one of these days soon. So I guess that has made me pretty crabby!!! I don't blame you for being surprised that your son would ask to buy your house - yes, you are still living in it! I expect we will be living in our home until our time on this earth is over.

  17. Sometimes I can handle frozen yogurt in the house and sometimes I can't . You have to know yourself at any given week . I passed those little tiny chocolate bars in the dollar store today . And I said to myself , their small not too many calories , I could save them for a small treat . But , I thought would I this week stop at 1 or 2 or would I eat them all up ? I decided this week I just couldn't take the chance . So , someday you probable can handle that ice cream , just not this week . Keep up your great work

  18. Well, it's good for you to know your husband loves you enough to not want you eaten by a bear! :) I'm glad you're out getting your walks in and enjoying life. Hopefully you're getting in some enjoyable piano time.

That Korean food looks interesting. I might need to check it out; haven't had Korean food in years, and then only once or twice.

I'm with you ... if it's too yummy and a sweet treat, I cannot have it in the house.

    Happy Tuesday!

  19. The food looks yummy. Please get a horn or loud bell and some bear spray. Unless of course you go walking with a friend, then you only have to be able to run faster than the friend. Joke...LOL. We would never do that to a friend.

  20. I hope I get out and walk, too! Once I’m home from work, I just want to sink into the couch.
Just want you to know I might not be able to comment as much - work blocks me! 😭
But I enjoy hearing what you’re up to. Speaking of hearing, I’m coming up on 3 years of better hearing and your blogs about himself and his hearing helpers helped me get over my worries and get these hearing aids. No regrets!
    Hugs and love,
    Ace

  21. Please be careful of where you walk. As you know, bears are extremely dangerous and wayward males lost in the woods as well. Try to stick to the roads. Himself is right. We all worry about you! You're also doing good with the ice cream. Stay safe during the storms tonight.

  22. Do you carry bear spray? If not, maybe it's something to think about.

  23. I did get on my elliptical exercise bike for 12 minutes!

We are a bit southwest of you, but it stormed here in Minnesota last night, too. We lost power for a short time recently.

    It does pay to look at things differently. I have read we should try to see the world through the eyes of a child. {{{HUGS}}}

That's what famil is all about.

  25. Walking is good for us, we just need to do what we can to be safe. I don't intend to give up walking as it keeps my knees working. I also ride bike, but taking that up again at 71 is challenging. Keep up the good work with the weight loss. Beth Mosko.

  27. Checking in after missing a few days - it's always good to read your messages! They put a positive spin on things and always put a smile on my face and in my heart. I am going to start a list of the positives of being older than old. It may take some thought.

It has been an unusual summer in more ways than one - but we'll stick to the weather. The western half of North America is hot and dry while the eastern half has also been warm but wet. We have a bumper crop of mosquitoes which make being outside a bit unpleasant. The boys and I sometimes only get in one walk - in the morning when it is cooler and we don't have to share the shade with all the bugs. Stay well!

  28. Wish you could send us, in Oregon, your rain. We're in a many-months'-long drought now. Fires thrive, but nothing else much does.

  30. Well, maybe "Himself" was concerned more than about rape on your walk in the bush! Still catching up on your blogs. (((HUGS)))
