I'm sure the Queen will be calling me over to her place!

If yu look closely, yu will see a black shepherd coming down a slide , from the floating dock--This was "Coal", a German (as in dog) we had several years ago--Coal and Tess were best friends--When coal passed on, Tess was never the same!  Funny how animals bond --- Tess and Beau have never been close!

Anyway, Tess is still in the "Land of the living"---  JUST-----

This morning, I woke up to a float plane, taking off on the lake. It was so so pretty, zooming up the lake, and eventually was airborne . Only in the North, does one see that! --I was not raised in the North--I grew up in Southern Ontario, along the shores of Lake Erie. I still tell Himself, "If anything ever happened to yu, I will return to Port Stanley and the beaches there."

There were no black flies there---There were sandy beaches, and cottage life was the best! But--would I really return to that area?-----  I was thinking of that as I watched that float plane this morning. We have 3 children living in this town right now---We have over 4000 clean lakes around our town--We have the bush at our door--WE LIVE IN THE BUSH--- I know everyone in town (or so it seems)- WE have very good healthcare here-- ---

Well, maybe I should rethink everything eh?---  to stay----here?-----or-------Lord love a duck! Why worry, because eventually I'm sure the Queen will call me over to her place --

Well, ya jess never know!

  1. We get used to a place, and you mentioned several positives about right where you are! Wherever you go, as they say, there you are. Being close to loved ones is so important.

  2. Thanks for sharing this moment. It brought back my own experiences of watching float planes and with it that wonderful "uplifting" feeling of hope. From comments shared, it's exactly what we need right now. Hugs - B

  3. With your family so close and all the beauty around you I'm sure you wouldn't really want to leave it. Great picture of Coal enjoying the water. Have a wonderful day! (((Hugs)))

  4. Good Morning Lynda and a beautiful morning it is. This is Labour Day weekend so we should be seeing fireworks tonight after the horse races...maybe. Not even sure if they are doing the races this year or if there will be fireworks. We can see it from our home if here is. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else from where I am right now. I'm quite content here. Strange about animals. When my kitties (brother & sister) were babies they slept together, ate together ane played together. Now every time Mischief goes near Molly she hisses at him. My DH says typical woman. Yu think?

  5. These are indeed things to think of . . .being in town with your children but having a big house and the up keep may be too much. And if you remember you have those children living in town but not one of them or their wives offered to take you for your eye surgery. Maybe you should come down to the states near your daughter when the time comes to make a move . . . or visit the Queen for a vacation

  6. You will have some big decisions to make but being close to family is so important. The area you live in now is so beautiful even if you have to put up with black flies and it’s getting so built up in southern Ontario. Everywhere you go there seems to be a lot of construction going on and all the farm land is disappearing. My daughter treated to to a spa day in Niagara on the Lake and since it’s been a few years since I’ve been on the QEW I was amazed at the changes. I’m sure you won’t have to make that decision soon so enjoy the beautiful area ! Enjoy the rest of the weekend! 👍

  7. The photo grabbed my attention and I thought Coal was a black bear until I started reading. Hope you are having a good day.

  8. I love that picture of Coal! He must have been sort of brave, to use that slide. Poor Tess, to miss her Coal. It's too bad that Beau and Tess didn't bond the same. Wow, seeing the float plane sounds really amazing. We live near an airport, so I've seen some interesting things. Last summer, I saw two massive green military helicopters like they used in Vietnam, in all the movies.

  9. Beautiful pic of the water near your lake. Must be so peaceful. Rain here all day but supposed to be nice for our holiday tomorrow. Have to keep walking so will take my jacket today☔️

  10. Coal looks good there. One of your sons bought or is building a home down the street I think. Maybe you could ask that, in the future he would think about an in-law suite somewhere in his house. Then you wouldn't have to move too far! Enjoy the rest of the long weekend.

  11. Lovely picture. The lake looks so inviting. Yes, we have changes to think about sometime, but take it as it comes! Have a great day.

  12. Oh priorities change as we get older. That's all right. That's part of life. I would hate to leave my kids. Family is so important.

And those fur babies! What would Tess, Beau and Sushi do in a different location! I know how long it took my Mr. Spot to get used to Wisconsin when we moved here from Illinois.

    HUGS and blessings.

  13. I live by myself but have 3 adult children. One is planning on moving to Colorado with his soon to be wife (we all live in So Cal now), and he wants me to move too. California is just too expensive for most new couples to start out, but my other 2 plan on staying (one just bought a house). Not sure what I’ll do!
Glad Tess is hanging in there!

  14. Lynda, if need be you could stay where you are to be close to your kids, but vacation in Port Stanley. Maybe share that place with your kids, too. Choices, choices, choices...{{{HUGS}}}

  15. So tough to even consider moving at this point...especially now!! It'd be nice to be closer to your daughter but moving back to Port Arthur wouldn't get you close enough, I think. I sure wish she could move closer to you..., though the boys seem to be doing ok these days...

  16. Maybe the queen will come over and rent a room from you? She could bring the butler and the housekeeper ... you'd have it 'made in the shade.' It is a big decision to make about moving or staying, but hopefully as time passes and you mull it over you'll come to a decision you're comfortable with.

  17. I keep forgetting to mention that I was at the Queen's palace once; however, it was front and center at the main gate to observe the changing of the guards. I did get a peek at some of the Crown Jewels in the Tower of London which was more interesting to me than watching the guards.

  18. Hi Lynda. Beth here. I enjoyed your blog and I also enjoyed the picture with Coal going down the slide. So many decisions to make as we get older. I have been doing a few repairs to my home and in the process putting in things that will make it easier for us to stay in our home. I do not like moving so am looking ahead to what will be needed. Have a good evening and a great day tomorrow.

  19. Hi Lynda. I seem to be able to comment on your blog if I am on my laptop computer. Cant do it on my iPad. I'm glad that Jess is still with you. Being close to family is important as you get older. I am 80 now and just married a man 70 years old in the middle of the pandemic. It was wild. I have 8 kids and several grandkids most live near me. So we have a lot of help if we need it, near by. Keep writing those wonderful blogs. They are so enjoyable.

  20. You really never know. I swore I would never move back to the area I grew up in but hubby wanted to when we retired because he fell in love with the area before we met. Here I am back where I started but the cost of living is way, way lower than the city so am very glad we did.

  21. Sometimes changes are for the best and are welcome, but sometimes not. I'd only move if the offer me a place where everything chores will be taken care of LOL

  23. Family is just too important to leave and go back to our roots. This is home now after 53 years so this is where I will stay.

  24. Yeo we say all kinds of things when we think "the grass is greener on the other side" type of thoughts. You're right you have your kids around you, would you in Port Stanley? I think not. I'd stay put, downsize big time, and just enjoy life.
