There is a new puppy in the works--

This was me this morning----chugging up the back road. ---I am "later than late" posting ---because----
WE BOUGHT ANOTHER DOG"----Lord love a Duck eh!  Himself and I must be crazy! ----  --It is NOT a German Shepherd-- (Whew eh?)----  I want another  German Shepherd---  but-----  because of Himself's age--AND--I am NO spring Chicken either---  and if either of us  passed on to the great world where-ever, and the other one of us were left, that person could never survive in this large house--like---if we had 2 large Germans, where on earth would we move?-There are not too many houses with huge yards--

But, before I decided  completely, I called the breeder where Tess was from --no puppies -- I then called a few other breeders and there are no puppies anywhere and if there are, they are spoken for--
So, I sensibly  thought  that REALLY we should not have another large puppy-- SO-----  (You will freak out for sure!)-----  I bought a tiny wee fella--- a Chihuahua-----well----- ( a lifespan of 12 to 20 yrs)-

We pick him up Oct 3rd, in Barrie , ON--------  He looks like a rat----  He is dark brown and black and very small--so--we go  from one extreme to the other.  Beau already plays with Lola, son#3's  dog, the same breed as the one we are getting so I know he will be OK with the new pup--

I still cry ---not as much--- but, there are moments--- I miss Tess a lot! I know we were so fortunate to have had her as long as we did---  Her breeder has puppies  in January -----  and yu know----- it is something to think about-- Lord love a Duck! Himself will  never  ------well--ya jess never know!

  1. I couldn't help smiling and laughing when I read your blog. Picturing Big Beau and this teeny-tiny chihuahua, ADORABLE! Wishing you much joy and happiness with your new bundle when you get him! So happy for you and Himself!

  2. I can't wait for the stories to come when Beau and ____? get to know one another. Your new pup, even when full grown, will probably be more Sushi's size! Congrats on finding this little one, and thanks to your son #3 for his help in the project.

BTW, a tiny little Chihuahua was the first dog I was ever scared of, as a teenaged baby-sitter. They can be fiercely protective of their human family, and those teeth are sharp as needles! I made the family put her harness and leash on before they left me, so I could take her walking to the park when I took the baby, and she (Ponchita, the dog) would NOT let me touch her to put that leash on. Every dog is different... here's hoping much joy in the house with this new addition!

  3. Aww, so happy for you! A little dog will be much easier to handle. Just make sure he doesn’t get under your feet & trip someone. He will certainly keep you active! I

  4. How exciting that you are getting a new dog. And a chihuahua. We have one all white named Molly and she is the cutest lovable sweetheart.

  5. That’s wonderful news Lynda! I’m sure it will be quite different with a small dog but it will be much easier to handle. Think of all the work you have to look forward to with the training etc. That will keep you busy and I hope Beau adjusts. Have a good night. 👍

  6. "Speedy Gonzales" came to mind reading about your new puppy. Speedy is a Looney Tunes cartoon that you can Google if not familiar with him. Enjoy!

  7. It's exciting to look forward to a puppy. Our preference would be another Lab but we have Wiggles who is part Chihuahua and part Shih Tzu. We don't have the stamina for a big dog anymore. I think Max the cat is slightly larger. I look forward to your puppy stories.

  12. That is great news. When our Bella died we got Scooter about three months later. The best decision we made was getting a new dog. I can wait to see him.

  17. Wow...I have never been a fan of tiny "yappy" dogs . . . I am more the big dog type . . .hat is why we have a Newfoundland/Great Pyrenes mix. Hope the new dog fits right into your family.

  18. You will love your new puppy! My BFF has one. Raised with love...not nervous and nippy like others I have known. Your remaining German will not be alone, and may just "parent" the puppy.

    I am with you about the clothes, too. Retired now, the fanciest place I go is out to eat with my daughter who is 45 minutes away. How many dressier clothes does one need now? {{{HUGS}}}

  19. Oh Lynda, my last two dogs were wee Chihuahuas and the very last one never got to be 3 1/2 lbs, our vet was very pleased with her! She'd eat just the amount of food she'd need, then walk away from her dish, isn't that something? Our first Chi, my husband constantly was giving her treats and feeding her from the table - she turned out to be huge and had many medical problems. I vowed he wasn't to do that with the second one and he didn't! These Chi's are lovable, adorable and very cuddly, loyal pups, I know you & Fred will both adore yours! <3 <3

  21. Congrats on a new puppy. My neighbour has one - very friendly and she is cute and doesn't seem to need a lot care. That will be a long trip that you can get out of pandemic clothes for! And it's good that you already know Beau should be fine with the pup since he knows one now. It will be exciting.

  26. Do you have a dog who is always begging for food? Is it hard to keep up with his hunger? The best way to feed your dog on a regular basis is to have an automatic dog food dispenser. This dispenser will feed your dog when he's hungry, and it will keep him fed without you having to worry about it.
