I tried so hard NOT to blog to-day--but---- I do miss you all--- so, here goes---- Life is busy---- I see some of you have called and I will get back to everyone--- I just need more time---There is not enough time in a day to do all I need to-- So, why is it so busy?--- #1---- There are boxes EVERYWHERE--- pictures leaning against walls that may never get hung--(but I hope they do-- -in time!)
-Son#2 -the Pilot is here most of the time---and suggests places to go, and things to do---so off we go---and the boxes just sit there waiting for me to figure out where to put stuff-- Eventually ----life will calm down---- You see, we haven't lived close to Son#2 forever---and he delights in showing us everything---kinda cute!
This morning he said, "Come on Mom, lets go to the book store up the street--You wanted a book on Lakefield-- --and lets walk to it-"--(I haven't walked in years)---- so-- I huffed and puffed a lot--but we did walk a few blocks and I bought a book on the history of this area--
His wife then asked what Church we go to--It is Sunday --Well, I haven't been to Church in years--but when I used to go, it was to the United church-- His wife said she was going to the United Church-- and of course, she was walking to Church--- so, we "hoofed" it to that United Church------ and I absolutely loved being in a Church once again--and I enjoyed singing the hymns -----
I dunno when the boxes will ever be unpacked--because this afternoon, Son#2 and wife , insisted we go to Costco--We put Himself in a wheel chair and pushed him around Costco--which he absolutely loved-- It was packed with people but it sure felt like Christmas--
--and to-night, freezing rain is falling--- --and you might think that I would attach the boxes--but----- there they sit---Holy cow! So much excitement---- AND---- TO-MORROW I AM one year older----and---- the "Blind man" is coming in the morning, so we can order some sort of window covering, as all the neighbours around here can see in every window---
But---- soon--I promise-life will calm down and I shall answer the phone---- and stay here AND -unpack boxes--- Below is a picture of Lopez with Gerrard, son#2's dog--- They spend their time looking outside--Note--no blinds on the windows--
So--- at 83--(well almost)- life in the city is sure different than life was in the bush---Now I loved our life in the bush---but---it is sorta exciting to see people and a busy city -and going to Church once again, really was wonderful-- The minister spoke about :" JOY"----and we were all given a bell to shake as we sang about "Joy in our hearts"------ and if we were not smiling , the bell was taken from us--- Interesting sermon for sure!
So, its like the country girl visits the city-----but------ SOON --soon--- I must unpack those boxes--- but----I JUST HAD TO TELL YOU that it sure has been exciting to move at 83 Years old!-- May we all have the spirit of a Warrior within us--no matter our age--and never be afraid to try new things---
So glad to hear from you - your life sounds so different than it was but exciting and full of activities. Quite different from being out in the "boondocks" and now in town. Going to church will be an excellent way to meet people and become involved in the town. Loved the idea of handing out bells on the Joy Sunday. By walking to the bookstore and to church, you will remember how to get there much better. You are learning the town more all the time.
ReplyDeleteSoon your son will be off on one of his flights and you will have more time to empty boxes - no hurry. Remember how long you spent filling them up so take your time emptying them.
Enjoy the book about the town and rememb.er to take time for yourself and relax some. Enjoy the new life. Dot
Dot--SO SO happy yu wrote-- Thank yu-- Yes it was a busy day but exciting-- I really enjoyed going to Church --and Fred loved going to Costco-- He hadn't been in a store is a few years Thank yu for write-- Lynda

aww Barb--It really was a good dAy--but---NO Boxes got emptied--LOL--Thank yu for the Birthday wishes-Lynda
DeleteIt's Kathy. First let me wish you a Happy Early Birthday! Second, it sounds like you are enjoying your life - finally - and I think it's okay that the boxes aren't all unpacked. I expect you have everything you need for the moment. So my unsolicited advice - take some time to be happy! We just got home from what our church calls Spuds and Spirits. They serve a Baked Potato Bar with lots of yummy toppings. Then the church band starts playing Christmas Carols. I had already been at a Christmas Pot Luck with my Bible Study group so I was pretty worn out and kind of didn't want to go. BUT I'm sure glad I did because I feel so much better now! Something about being with other people and singing beautiful songs really perks up the spirit. It's been a long time since I've heard this joy in your voice! Enjoy every moment of it. And it also sounds like himself is filled with joy as well - maybe this move will really be good for him! Take care.
ReplyDeleteYes I really did enjoy Church --I ill go next Sunday also-Lynda
DeleteHi Lynda: You deserve a day off to get acclimated to the area and to take Fred out. You will have plenty of time to empty boxes as long as you have found the main things you guys need. You're also finding ways to meet people. And when the pilot and his wife fly away, there will be lots of time to unpack. So just enjoy the new stuff and early Happy Birthday wishes for tomorrow! Hugs Brenda
ReplyDeleteHi Brenda--Life sure is different--LOL--Lynda
DeleteOh, Lynda, I am just so happy for you. How wonderful to get to do social things once more, and be so close to your son! What a special time and wonderful new chapter of your life, and the Mister! :) Treasure it. Life is so short! I am filled with the Christmas spirit!

Love Xmas-- Lynda
DeleteOh, and a happy, HAPPY birthday to you! And many, many more HAPPY days to come! Marti
ReplyDeleteMarti--Yu are so good--- HELLO to YOU--Lynda
DeleteHappy Birthday to you! Just a few hours away! I'm excited that son #2 is really stepping up and excited to have his mom & dad close by! All that walking, you won't be huffing and puffing for long!
ReplyDeleteAnd hooray for being able to enjoy a church service in person, singing those hymns!
Yes I shall try to walk round the block daily-(no snow to shovel here-)- raining outside--Lynda-
DeleteLynda, you sound so happy. That makes me happy. How fun that you walked to the book store with Matt. LOVE that Fred went to Costco. Fred mentioned wanting to go to Costco at the country house. Church is so good for the soul. Singing hymns is uplifting. I like the bell idea.
ReplyDeleteGerald and Lopez vote no on window coverings. LOL
Matt sounds like an adventurous on the go guy. He'll get you acclimated to your new town.
There will be time for boxes when the weather keeps you inside.
Thank you for finding time to share your day with us. You ARE a warrior. You are doing great with this huge undertaking. I'm
proud of you. Stay strong and well. I'm grateful Matt is there.
Keep that happy heart!
Love and hugs
Marge/St.Louis
Marge--good to hear from yu --yes-- It is busy here-- Matt is back flying next week--I will miss him--Lynda
DeleteHi Lynda! What a nice day you had at church, the bookstore and Costco. It’s good to step away from those boxes a bit. It all sounds very different for you but it is going to be fantastic when it sll gets done. Hugs from Ohio!
ReplyDeleteAllison will be criving up --from Medina, Ohio--maybe next week--Lynda
DeleteLynda, I'm so glad that Matt pulled you away from home to go to a bookstore. He probably wanted some one on one time with his Mom. Now you have a new friend that you can met up with at Church. The outing to Costco was such a great idea, especially since Fred enjoyed it so much. You know, in all the years you've been writing a blog, it seemed you didn't have much of a social life, and now you do. Life is too short to always having your nose to the grindstone. God bless Matt for coming up with the apartment and encouraging you to move. You do sound so very happy. You must already have the essentials out of the boxes, so don't worry about the others. Like other have said, they will be plenty of time to unpack when Matt and his wife are off flying. Sing for Joy, Lynda.
ReplyDeleteMaureen from California

DeleteWhat a great son! It sure beats having a child drive by and never stop to check on you. With Himself getting out and about, you will no doubt see an attitude important. Now you have a reason to "hoof it"...fun time with family. This move is a great thing for you and Himself.
ReplyDeleteJeanne--- Matt took us out AGAIN for dinner--Fred loved it--Lynda
DeleteOh, my! I just kept refreshing the page for your blog. The new one today never showed! Now I know to go to the list of the blog titles at the top!
ReplyDeleteGreat your went to a book store, Costco (I used to have a membership there) and church, too. Unpacking boxes can wait.
If there was one around here, I would go to a Unitarian church.
The dogs by the window are adorable. Lopez has a friend! Now maybe he won't torture Sushi. How is she getting on?
All for now, sis. Have a wonderful night. Bet you both will sleep well after your busy day. {{{HUGS}}} Love, Maggie
Maggie----Yu think these boxes will ever end?----And Matt took us out for dinner AGAIN--Lynda

DeleteHAPPY 83RD BIRTHDAY LYNDA.
ReplyDeleteI am really 82--- born in '42 Lynda
DeleteWowowow!! It sounds like a whirlwind, but not all work which is nice.
ReplyDeleteIsn't Costco something? My son-in-love works at the one in our area. I don't buy fruit or fresh veg there, because while the prices are good, they come in such quantity that I can't get them all eaten before they go bad. But I do like to buy meat and some other things there; I can buy the Costco brand of antihistimine for the whole year for the same price as one small packet of the name brand!! Did you all try any of the food samples? Did Fred enjoy being out and in the hustle bustle? I know that was one of the things you looked forward to, getting him and to be around other folks.
Your son and daughter-in-law sound like absolute diamonds, getting you out and showing you the places they think you'll enjoy. You'll get those boxes unpacked, but I'm glad you all are doing some fun things too. You might have huffed and puffed a bit walking, but thankfully you've done lots of yard work, and snow shovelling and housework so are in pretty good shape.
Happy birthday!!
We were at a new place to eat to-nite== Too much "going out"--Lynda
DeleteHappy birthday Lynda!! I hope you had an amazing day!!
ReplyDeleteDonna T.
