Be the kind of person your dog thinks you are!

Good evening--I was siting in the living room and this over whelming thought came to me---  talk to you --talk to the bloggers-- Son #2  told me earlier to tell the bloggers how excited you are to move --so, here I am-- just after 7pm--

Well the boys in town, (my kids) came out this afternoon--  Son#1 brought food--"Rice and Peas" and "Jerk Chicken"--- Son#2 has been telling me that we will take our time driving south as there might be a lot of snow-Hopefully it will be cleaned up by then--and Son#3 cut Lopez nails--came out also--

So , to-day I tried to pack--- also assess what to take in the way of furniture--- and what to leave--I believe no matter what., I will bring too much-

I guess Son#2 and his wife have been in  cleaning our  place--sent pictures-

                                                                the frig in the kitchen
the stove and micrwave
the bathroom

So, how was your day?--You didn't cry did you??--(I didn't!)-
AND I DID NOT SHOVEL SNOW----did you?
So a couple "Oldies--but Goldies-"
Dock days--below--Grandchildren , many moons ago
Time to say goodnight --and to read the comments from last night--
I hope that yu were strong to-day--
I love you to the Moon and back-- Lynda

  1. Glad your sons came and spent time today, and you were able to make a few more decisions. The apartment looks nice, and although it will be much smaller than your house, that will be a good thing, just a bit of an adjustment. It will be so nice not to have all that work to do. More time to read, play the piano, walk the dog, and get to know your new town. You are an amazing woman!

  2. Good evening, Lynda! Nice to hear from you! I have been thinking of you today. Hoping you are calm and doing well with the busy stuff. Great the boys came out and helped. Very cold in Ohio with snow showers. Up North got hit hard. Your apartment is lovely! Best to take too much and then get rid of things than have regrets of letting something go too soon. Hugs to you!

Nice to hear a couple of your local sons were out.
Your apartment looks very nice. How nice of pilot son/wife to clean it.
Hopefully you have a floorplan of new place so you'll be able to decide on furniture placement. So many decisions.
Very cold in St.Louis...teen temperatures tonight.
Hugs dear Lynda. Stay strong and positive.

  5. Hi Lynda, I know you're very busy these days, but was delighted to see you had written a blog today. I checked several times and was finally rewarded. Oh, it will be so nice to move to your new apartment with everything looking so new and freshly cleaned. Bravo for Matt and his wife making sure everything sparkled for your arrival. I was pleased to hear that Son #1 brought food and visited and Son #3 visited and trimmed Lopez's nails. I hope you won't have to drive through snow driving to Lakefield. Thanks for writing.

  7. Good morning Lynda,
I know you will make the right decisions on what to take and what to leave. Take pictures of the things you must leave behind. I will be thinking of you and himself. I know you will really love the new space but give yourself time. I love you and wish you and himself the best. Keep your chin up and know your friends are here cheering you on. Love ya Bev

  10. Gosh, sis. I checked last night before bed and there were no comments and this post didn't show, either. There must be a delay for me. That means you probably have already checked these comments and won't even see mine! It's Monday now!
I didn't cry. Just smiled all day.
I didn't even go to our Sunday bingo in our Community Room. Stayed in my apartment, napped and listened to more Law of Attraction videos while playing Huge Spider. I think it's the COLD that makes me so tired. Not an illness...the temperature. I just seem to want to hibernate.
The photos are great! You will love your new place. The shower looks easy to access. Just needs a chair made for showers. I have one.
Hope you don't miss the dock too much.
As far as packing...you will probably wish you brought some things and wish you had brought something else. If you're like me. There's that thing called hindsight.
I'm gonna message you to be sure you see this post.
Hope you get done what you want to today and get some rest, too.
    {{{HUGS}}} Love, Maggie

  11. It's Kathy. I shut down before I saw your post last night. Sounds like you had a very productive day! And how nice for your son to bring food so you didn't have to cook. That's my favorite - when I don't have to cook. I had a very good day also, but certainly not as productive as yours. Love the flashback photos. And how nice of your son and his wife to get your new place cleaned for you before you move in! It won't be long now!!!

  12. I'm glad the local sons came over and were helpful with food and Lopez grooming. I know they haven't been real supportive, but it's hard to feel 'on the outs' with our children and probably not a great feeling for them to maybe have an inkling they could do better. :D Hopefully there was plenty of leftover food so you can have an easy 'reheat meal."

Yep, you'll probably take too much stuff with you. That's just how it seems to work. Maybe you could take only your very favorite and most necessary pieces for each room of the new place. Same with clothes and coats/boots and kitchenware. Even then it will probably
be more than you'll have room for. But, there will be donation thrift stores in your new village where you can drop items off as you discover through living with them that they aren't working for your new chapter of life.

As well, the last several years if I want some small thing for my home, I go to the same stores I usually donate to as I declutter and purchase gently used quality things for a fraction of the cost of new. I've even bought a sweater or two, and replaced one of my sugar/creamer sets that had a chip with beautiful ones from the thrift store. AS ALWAYS my opinions and advice are free so take them for what they are worth.

Oh my gosh, do I ever have refrigerator and bathroom envy!!! That refrigerator looks very roomy and the freezer compartment looks good-sized. We really need a newer, larger refrigerator as my son-in-love and I both keep a fair amount of fresh produce and leftover meals in there. (I share a residence with my daughter and son-in-love; thankfully we get along very well and are respectful of each other so it works.) But the old cheap one I bought fifteen years ago when I couldn't find the one I wanted refuses to die!!! (The plan was, buy the cheap one and get one the size and good-quality I wanted when it died.)

The bathroom looks great ... plenty of room for cane/wheelchair if needed and the walk-in shower is excellent for safety. It's what I'd like down the line; I have really bad arthritic knees so already have to take great care stepping into my tub/shower combo.

Tell Son #2 he and his wife are my favorites!!! They are being so incredibly helpful to you all without seeming to be too bossy about it, which is wonderful.

I hope you are able to keep the stress levels low and accept all the help you can get the next several days ... moving is such a big undertaking with so many moving parts and emotions. But oh my goodness, I'm so excited for your chance for a less laborious lifestyle with reliable help nearby.

  14. Moving is such a big deal, isn't it? I remember several moves... including the big one, halfway across the country, when I took my post-college first professional job. Friends dropped over with food, and we ate in a room full of packed up boxes. Then we drove across with dog, and 10 month old son, after the movers put it all in a truck the next day.

Several other moves, all big deals, but none as well-supported on the departure end as that one was. Sounds like you have support, and that's a good thing!

I'm excited for you, and the new place looks wonderful empty. It will look more like you and Himself once your own things get added! Hang in there!

  15. Good luck with the moving process…it’ll be a busy few days BUT it will all fall into place eventually. Remember, you are strong, you are brave, you can handle this!! Be safe, take care…❤️ Karen (Eissa7)
