-We are in Lakefield, Ontario---We made it!

Well, Good Day from Lakefield, Ontario--I am sending a quick note here to let you know that we have arrived--Our home in Elliot Lake is sold-- and we are now living in a lovely apartment full of boxes--waiting to be unpacked--=AND--- WHERE DO WE PUT IT ALL??--

I know that it will get sorted--in time--To-day we have freezing rain falling--ice outside, everywhere--and that limits us going shopping for now--I must tell you that we should've "downsized" many many years ago--the longer one puts it off, the more stuff one accumulates--and we sure brought Way too much with us--  anyway, I can fill you all in with more details of the move---  just not now--as I really need a wee nap-- But----How are you all???-- I have missed chatting with you---

You know, it is almost Christmas-- ever nice!---the jolly old man will be coming--wondering if we all are doing OK--Lord love a Duck!  We are doing just fine--!------Merry Christmas----

  1. So glad you are THERE! You are so right, start to downsize sooner than later. Been doing it here, too. Hope you can try out shopping soon! Get used to not blowing snow! Thanks for posting!

  2. Congratulations on the move! You did it! Glad you are getting settled in and knowing you, I bet you will have a lot of those boxes unpacked before Christmas! I am going to try to get rid of more things this winter. We do accumulate it, and always have that little voice in our head saying “you might need that one day”, but usually that day never comes!

  3. Glad you made it safe n sound...get your Christmas tree up 1st so Santa can find you(lights) lol Take it one box at a time, and don't rush...we moved 33 times before I was 10..I tried one time to list our moves and finally gave up....after the divorce from 1st husband we moved many times while in hiding....learned to travel light. Take it easy.
Did you find Himself a visiting place as he had before?

  4. So glad to hear that you are there and ready for the next chapter in your lives. I know it has been a rough week or so for you but hang in there. As you look at the freezing rain just remember, it is not your problem to clear off. How are Himself and the animals adjusting? I think we are all guilty of needing to clear out "stuff" that has accumulated over the years - so many things I was saving "for my old age". I guess that time has arrived as I am 88 so better get busy using it!! Relax and enjoy the newness of it all - Dot

  11. SO HAPPY to see your smiling face and know that you are all there in your new wee nest. I've been checking daily to see when you would have internet connected again and a moment to pop in here. Thank you!

  12. Lynda, congratulations on a successful move. It will take time to unpack and settle in, but the hard part is done. It's wonderful to hear from you. I hope the journey was not to difficult. Take your nap, the rest will get done all in good time.

  13. Hi Lynda: Glad you made it safely. The weather for the last week was not good for that long drive from way up north to your new home. hope himself has survived the change and you will be able to find a new daycare centre close by. The weather has been miserable here as well. We don't normally get this warm at this time of year for freezing rain. Now you can relax and take your time sorting things out! Take care. Hugs Brenda

  14. So happy for you all! I trust ALL of you made it...even the stressed out pets.
Tried calling you yesterday, but I must have your old house number. Just wanted to make sure you arrived.
We have below freezing weather, too. Very (brrr) windy. Snow is due soon. No mention of how much accumulation.
I trust the boxes were marked with which room they belong in, and that the furniture is set up.
How are Himself and the pets doing with the chaos?
Try to relax, dear, and get a good night sleep. {{{HUGS}}} Love, Maggie

  23. I am so happy that you have arrived and gone through all of the change up to this point. You are a role model for all of us that are struggling with the downsizing issue. Rest up my friend you have made it.

  24. Hi Lynda!!! So happy to see you. You look fabulous...none the worse for the ordeal. Gosh i missed you. HOPE Fred and the fur kids are transitioning well. I'm so glad that part is done and over. I knew you'd take too much lol. You can always purge more as you unpack and figure out where stuff goes. Take your time. Sorry about ice uugghh. Get that nap, you deserve it.

  25. It's Kathy. I am soooo happy that you have arrived safely! Sorry about the freezing rain, but at least you won't have to go outside to shovel it when it's done! I have thought of you every day since you last posted hoping that all would go well! I'm glad I decided to check once more before I closed up for the day! Things have been pretty quiet here. I saw my physical therapist and she said I'm doing really well - YEAH! I'm back to Pilates twice a week and now have scheduled a couple private classes on the Reformer. I'm even cooking, and almost enjoying it! Take care, yes those boxes will be unpacked eventually. And I agree - I've been downsizing all along but it's really hard to get my husband to do the same! Once the holidays are over (that gives me another month of healing) we're going to start! Take care and get some rest! My mom would say 'Rome wasn't built in a day'.

  26. I love the smiling face! Yes, you made it. Thanks for taking the time to check in. We made several cross-country moves and found it easier to let go of stuff when we were unpacking than amidst the stress of packing (like wedding gifts we hadn't used in 25 years or really nice clothes that would never fit me no matter how much weight I lost). My husband dragged me from room to room and box to box and we unpacked! I wanted to take my time but nope, he wanted it done NOW. I can't tell you the kind of thoughts that were going through my head but "the honeymoon is over" was definitely one of them! You have all the time in the world to decide what to keep and what will bless others by way of donations. You can do this!

  27. It’s Alice, the nurse practitioner in SF! Have been anxiously been awaiting your post! So happy to hear you have arrived safe and sound! We also moved a block away to a smaller apartment in August and agree with you! We should have downsized way ahead of our move, for sure! But so happy to hear you have landed and will be looking forward to hear of your adventures in your new space!

  30. So happy you made it! That downsizing move from the family home is so difficult in many ways. No need to rush unpacking! How is Himself doing?

  32. So happy to hear that the move went well. You will purge down the stuff throughout the year. We had the same thing happen when we moved from Ottawa to Simcoe but now we are very happy with the amount of things and we still purge from time to time to keep it simple. Enjoy the freedom from yard work and shoveling that apartment life brings.
