After 2543 years of Sparking, I am doing it alone but---sorta sad!

That's my motto to-day--"Just keep going"---Don't let "stuff" get me down!--

I must tell yu that my weight is still 194.5----I feel that I have that part of my life more in control. I shopped yesterday for bananas, plus everything else, at 8am---I met Son #3 AND Son #4  in the grocery store--It was pretty funny-- I was going around an aisle and bumped right into Son #3. There were not many people there at that hour.

And I must tell you also, that another Tornado was predicted to come thru here about 4-30pm yesterday afternoon-- The wind blew and there was heavy rain, but  it went by pretty quick with no damage. I don't remember another year with such high humidity in this area  and such a lack of rain, with sudden storms  popping up like this summer.

And----I did NOT buy ice cream yesterday-- But---- I promised myself that if a Doctor ever tells me that I have one day to live, I definitely WILL go out and load up on chocolate ice cream and eat it all at once.-So, knowing that, I walked by the ice cream freezer--for now!

I read about Spark on Facebook and it makes me sad--It makes me feel that they "threw me out"---"worthless" in the Spark World--and after 2543 years of Sparking, and finally getting my act together (Mom used to say that), ----and being told that I can't belong--

To change the subject, Tess is hanging in---  She made it thru another weekend-- even ate her dinner in the thunder storm, last evening---  but--I had to lay on the floor beside her------=  Poor soul--If only she could talk eh?--Oh the stories she'd tell!-

I do love yu all--- yu who take the time to be a part of my world-- You are the best!

JUST KEEP GOING!

  1. Glad you and Tess are hanging in there! Those storms, no kidding!

Let me tell you, you are not missing a lot with Spark360... it has zero community support... I felt very lonely over there. It's just not set up the same at all. We are a much cozier community here as refugees!

We have to get you hooked up to your Reading List one of these days, so you can find the others!

And keep Sparking, my friend! ✨πŸ’–πŸŒŸ

    1. Barb Thank yu so much---- so--no community support eh?---That makes me feel better because we had such great community support-- Yes-- We must get hooked up so I can read about all son here--I need that!

    2. I can help you set up a good reading list and give you the URL for that. I'll get to work on that!

  2. I really miss Spark too but am glad that I have you on Facebook so I can still read your blogs.

Went to grocery store this morning, not a lot of people in there but it was raining when we came out...We are starting to get the rain from Ida even though we live in Kentucky

    Have a great Monday

  3. There are things that I miss about SP, but you were the main reason I signed in each day - Life in Lynda's World! That and tracking. Now I do tracking on a free app and I still check out Lakeside Lady every morning as I have my breakfast (today - whole wheat Eng. muffin w/2% cheese, grapes and coffee). What a lovely trip to the grocery.
Doesn't it make your heart happy to see a dear one unexpectedly!? Good for you for passing up the ice cream. I occasionally buy a pint if we are having guests, or get a treat for myself in a one portion size. If there is more than that around, it calls my name constantly - and how long can you possibly just say "no!" Eventually I always decide to just go ahead and eat it so it will shut up! Can't have it in the house. This has been a crazy weather year. In fact, it's just plain been crazy for the last year and a half or more. But, we've made it a day at a time.

Wishing you a lovely Monday and week. Thanks for keeping this up.

  4. Good for you for continuing without SparkPeople and still losing the weight - I’m still having a hard time passing by the ice cream but did need some for dessert last night. The weather has been so hot and humid here as well and we did get a thunderstorm last night but not a severe one as forecasted. I feel for Tess and hope she continues to do well. Have a good day! πŸ‘ πŸ•‍🦺

  5. You are doing fine without Spark world. You've lost weight and you are not eating the ice cream as much. They kicked all of us Canadians out - so much for "love thy neighbour". My little pup is scared of the storms too and hides if possible. Last 2 days have been terrible in the evening and she was scared too. Days were clear but extremely hot. Keep in mind that you are doing well overall.

  6. You're doing great keeping the weight coming down. Every loss is good, even if it's only a few ounces. Down is down. Good to hear Tess is doing OK too. I understand it is all about the corporate sponsors for the new Spark. They will only sponsor certain areas for their employees and products and are not going to sponsor those from outside USA. What we would need is some Canadian sponsors but what is the chance of that happening? We have had some of those pop-up thunderstorms too. Have a great day Lynda. Hugs, Willow

  8. I really miss Spark, too. I didn't realize how much I was going to miss reading everyone's blogs and comments. I, too, feel like I'm going it alone.

We had the stormy weather pass through here during the early morning hours on Sunday with thunder, lightning, and a fair amount of rain. We surely needed the rain, as even the moss was very crunchy and dried out. I'm ready for the air to dry out, too.

Thanks for the blogs, Lynda! Make it a great day!

  9. Yayyy to you for walking past the Ice Cream at the store!!! That was an awesome accomplishment. I have set reminders for myself to take a breat and walk. Some days are better then others but I really need to get this body moving. I am bad at grocery shopping. My hubby and son have been doing the shopping at Costco. The only problem is everything is in bulk. Occasionally they will remember to get me raspberries, which are my favorite. For this week, I bought some Smart One frozen meals for lunches so I am not tempted to order out. I really need to eat more veggies and fruit, so I will be more focused on that. So in your words today "Just Keep Going"

  10. You keep me going so know you are helping another person....I couldn't believe the scale was down a couple pounds this morning but then I hadn't checked for several days. It's the motivation I need to "stay with it" & work harder. I've mastered the "stay away from the ice cream freezers" but it's the choc candy that grabs me. I was able to walk out of the store last time without 1 piece of choc...& I've survived. Sunny, cool day here...it's fall....luv your blogs.....

  11. I also miss Spark. I am glad you are publishing your blogs here. We are due for some of the outer bands of Ida this afternoon. Yesterday we also had some rain. People don't realize how far the bands reach out for these storms. Dogs can feel the pressure from these storms.

  12. Good morning. Glad you are hanging in, Lynda. I buy the ice cream/ice milk bars, one a day for 7:00pm snack in the evening. Have that and a piece of fruit. Dietitian approved. You have something to look forward to. Have you ever been to a dietitian?

The new Spark has no soul, just boring words and numbers! No friendly daily remarks. Going Corporate, I guess they had to do that, to make money. But they removed the customer appeal.

How funny to “run” into your own son, lol! Enjoy your Monday.

  13. No--I have never been to a dietician--but have struggled all my life with excess weight-- We buy those bars too--and we each have one after supper--- There are few calories in them--Lynda

  14. Yay! Weight is staying the same with a downward trend. Glad to read that Tess is still here among the living. I feel so much for you knowing that she is living on the edge.

Glad you got to see both your sons all in one day.

  15. Thx for keeping this blog going! We can support each other’s journey here. We can celebrate all the little successes like no ice cream or potato chips! Still down 12 pounds since April. I’m gonna step up my walks with the cooler weather this week!😎

  16. Too funny that you ran into your sons at the market! One of the nice things living in a smaller area, I'd think. And I'll bet if Tess could talk she'd say how glad she is to be part of your family and how much she loves you.

Yay for you forgoing the chocolat icecream! Wish I could say the same about chocolate cake...

    Happy Monday!!

  17. Funny you ran into the sons while shopping. Glad the storm wasn't bad and Tess made it through another weekend. So glad your weight is not going up. Very sad you can't be a part of Spark any more. But we all adore you!

  18. How nice you ran into sons #3 and #4 @ the grocery store! Love shopping early in the morning when nobody is there (usually! LOL)

Woot woot for you not buying ice cream, and I believe I would if I had 1 day to live. LOL

Glad it ended up to be just a passing storm.

Oh, now you KNOW you’re not worthless! And Spark360 is changing again to PeopleOne Health.

So glad that Tess is hanging in there. You are such a good Fur Mommy to lie there with her during the storm. Miss Lilly doesn’t like it either. She is glued to me like Velcro. Yes, if they could only talk!

    HUGS

  19. Cutting back on calories is hard , eating healthy along with it is challenging . The first few months of my eating plan of less calories , I couldn't have things I really love in the house or even things I just so so liked . I found I just did not want to tempt myself . It's been a year this week , that I have been doing this . I found sometimes I needed a treat . So I have treats I like but don't love . Treats I can portion out for myself and say that's enough . Like 1/2 cup of frozen yogurt . But flavors that are good , not super - dooper . So if there is any ice cream you like but don't love , that's the one to get if all else fails . Or just plan for it , if you can limit yourself . But , your doing great . Remember what Dr. Pol said if animals are eating that's a good thing . Take care .

  20. Hugs for Tess...Thanks for posting..always a Blast!

  21. I am so glad Tess is still hanging in there. Sorry you are having such horrible weather.

Great job on passing on the ice cream. I love your plan and I am going to adopt it - if a doctor says I am going to die soon. I am getting ice cream and pizza and have a party with myself!!!

I am not happy with what Sparks did to all the people who live outside the USA. But I think it is going to come back and bite them in the butt. They say they want to help people lose weight but what they are saying with how they act is we want to help just a few people but really businesses where we get more money to lose weight. Bad message. When I tried to join way back in the beginning it was not offered in my state. Once it was I realized I did not want to support a company or be part of a company that will not allow people who have been with them for years and years and years to join - so I have not and will not join any part of them.

We are wise, we have the tools, and we have the support we need to do this!! Thanks to you Lynda!! We can and will do this.

  22. Lynda, your weight is still more than you'd like BUT YOU ARE IN ONEDERLAND NOW!

Glad Tess is okay. Trust that Beau and Sushi are, too. What would we do without our furbies?!

The weather seems strange all over. I'm having prayers sent up for those affected by Ida. My son is in CA...the fires were close to him...

    I guess if we "live in the moment" and don't worry about what will be tomorrow, we will be fine. {{{HUGS}}}

  26. We were under a tornado warning here this afternoon too. It turned dark as night at 4:30..the wind blew hard and the rains came but no tornado here, thank goodness! So scary.

We love you too! So glad you are blogging here so we can stay in touch with you. Great job on passing up the chocolate ice cream...I love it too but don't buy it anymore. Have a restful evening. Prayers for Tess to feel better πŸ™❤

  27. Beth here. Lynda, you are not alone. Even though I have access to Spark360 I am not a fan of the new site and probably will not use it. I have been staying steady with my weight, but would like to take off the 15 I put on since the pandemic. Keeping you and Tess in my prayers. I know it is hard when one realizes their fur baby is not doing well. Enjoy your time with her.

  31. Good morning Lynda,
I don't check on your blog everyday -but that doesn't mean I don't wonder how you and your family are doing! The weather in Michigan has finally cooled and I will be able to get out and pull weeds. I wish I had a gardner guy. (Can you send your grandson down here!)
Spark 360 is suppose to have a change on 9/1 - not sure what it is but I hope they have something for the 60 above group. I sort of stopped keeping track of what I was eating but started up again. I really do believe that is the ticket for losing weight. Keep up the good work and keep drinking your water and walking the Germans. We will get fit eventually!

  32. Hi Lynda! I know what you mean but I peeked in at SparkAmerica and I feel it isn't anything worth using at all. No community at all.

  36. Don't feel sad Lynda about Spark. It was time for Chris Downey to get on with his creation. His vision is to help the world starting with the US where corporations can help with the money problem. I am so thankful for Chris. It's hard to say what I would be like without sparkpeople. I was 325 lbs. when I joined and today I weigh 143.5 lbs. If I hadn't had my sister Thoms1 (Becky) along for the journey I wouldn't have tried to lose weight.
Spark360 is now called People One Health. It is primarily aimed at Corporations to help their people which would bring down their insurance costs.
The way it is set up now I honestly don't think it would have caught my interest. No community support. I think the spark coach they use is pretty much the computer. That's my perspective. I do belong to it the food tracker is like starting over at sparkpeople. I have to log everything into my favorites when I check other peoples nutrition they have logged it is never quite right as far as my nutrition labels go.
Anyway, I am glad you are here. (((HUGS)))

  37. Great that you got to visit with your sons at the store! I'm sorry to hear about all the storms this year. It does make dogs nervous. And their people! Hopefully, next year won't be so wild.

  38. Well, if the doctor ever told me I had one day to live I would meet you at the ice cream isle and buy a bunch.
