Remember to be Nice to Yourself!

This is Son#2, the Pilot--- and to-day is his Birthday-- I just spoke to him on the phone--He calls it his Omicron Birthday--He sounds so much better--is isolating upstairs in his room--His wife is on another floor of his house--so far, she is OK--  They both have had 3 vaccinations , so he should recover fast-- He says he will retest to-day--but will continue to isolate--Poor fella eh--and on is Birthday too! --

So, I have been out--shovelled a bit of the drive--plus one  Chihuahua path--This little Chihuahua did his business under our kitchen table yesterday--while we were having lunch--so----we (or me!) well, I am back to stage one AGAIN--- to get it in his head that , doing what he did, is NOT allowed! --Do any of you have advice on how to get it in his head, that he must go outside?--We have a bell on the door too, and I take his paw and hit it, to try to interest him , to let me know, to put him out.---  I did call the pet store  Lady and she  told me to just keep at it--eventually he will learn-that he is only 4 mos---Lord love a Duck!

The weight---????---Well, it is sitting at 185.5--- Christmas stoppage here--but--(always the big "butt")-it will continue to go down now that we are back to a sort of normal--Oh--One more thing--I am ordering more KN95 masks-- This virus is SO SO contagious and until they Arrive, I will double mask for sure!

I hope that you all are well--

--and taking care of "YOU"---
Until to-morrow---  remember to be nice to yourself--

  1. Good Morning, glad you are out and about. Neither our dog nor cat wanted to be outside this morning. It was 6 degrees with snow and ice everywhere. 4 months is pretty young for a puppy to be fully trained especially when it is so cold outside for the wee fellow to be out. Keep persisting he will learn. Just like your weight is finally going down.

  2. Have you tried Fresh Patch? It’s like a kitty litter box for dogs that you can put right outside the door so the wee one doesn’t need to venture too far in the snow. Our 5 month old chihuahua doesn’t like to venture to far when it’s cold and rainy (we don’t get snow) and likes the convenience of being right outside the door.

  3. Happy Birthday to your poor DS and sending healing vibes.

‘Fraid the Pet Store Lady is right – he’s 4 mths. and it takes time. DOESN’T make it any less urgent for you nor any less aggravating. Just know he’s not the only one that is taking his time! It's hard when YOU are trying so hard to teach him.

HUGS and wishing you good luck with little Lopez AND good luck to your DS -- may the healing continue -- quickly!

  4. Great that your son is isolating. Hope he heals quickly. Think of training Lopez as eating sensibly and losing weight. Sometimes even when we know what is the right thing to do, it is hard to do it everytime. Good luck with both. Hugs to you all.

  5. Happy birthday to your DS #2, and may the healing be quick and complete! May his family NOT get it, if at all possible. I wrote in my own blog about sharing my last at-home test kit with my son's GF's aunt "Merry Christmas", huh? And they lifted the mask mandate here and son's GF has to go to the office to work, so she's upgrading to the N95 mask at work. She might be the only one masking, but she has us old-er folk (me, and her parents) that she bubbles with. We're all vaxxed, and boosted, too, BUT... we're still careful.

Hang in there! Lopez *will* get it! ((( hugs )))

  6. Glad the pilot is getting better. Sounds lie there are some good things you can do with Lopez. Remember he is still very young and it is very cold up there.

  8. Happy Birthday to Son #2! Today is also my birthday!!! I hope he recovers soon from the Omicron strain. I am having knee replacement surgery on January 14th and my doctor told me yesterday that I need to stay away from the gym now until I am recovered. Darn Covid interferes with everything. I'm sorry about Lopez. He's probably just not happy with the snow, even though you are shoveling out for him. My Daisy does go out but she isn't too happy with me that I make her! But she's 8; I'm not sure if we had gotten her closer to winter if she would have complied!

  9. Happy Birthday to your son. I hope he continues to feel better and happy that his wife is doing well. Little Lopez will have his ups and downs as he continues to train. I know it is frustrating but the accidents will get fewer and fewer as time goes on. Especially, when you get through the cold weather. You are doing everything right but he is still very young and is probably doing his best. Hang in there, Lynda! You are wonderful and it will get easier!:)

  11. Happy Birthday to pilot son. Wishing him a speedy recovery.
Lopez....well...guess it takes what it takes. Sort of like us changing eating habits and consistently exercising. It takes me a while to get consistent with a new routine. I know its frustrating for you. I'm sorry.
    Be safe. Be well.
    Hugs dear Lynda

  12. Happy Birthday to your son. Hoping he can recover quickly. Too many people that have been vaccinated are coming down with the oricron. It does take time for little dogs to catch on to going out. The one we lost a yr. ago, even at an elderly age, she had occasional accidents. But such a sweetie.
