The Blizzard , the Chihuahua and more-

This picture was taken about 7am--still kinda darkish---  but, yu can see the ice beginning  to forming on the lake. We had a huge blizzard go thru yesterday and it is still snowing lightly this morning.----I hate to keep chatting about Lopez everyday, but---- the poor wee fella, living in the North--a Chihuahua--- and having to face a blizzard where his Chihuahua trails were full of snow--over his legs and neck, AND, he had to go out in it last night to do his business-- well, he did not do his business but just cried !--The poor wee guy eh?-- So, I brought him inside, and put him in his crate and carried him upstairs for the night---

Well. of course he woke me up at 4am-- so, up I got, and out we went , in the blizzard, and he pee-ed---  --no poop outside tho, but--on the way in, in the sunroom , I had put the pad---and he pooped on the pad in the sunroom-- Lordy Be eh!!--I finally weakened with the pad thing and he used it, out of the blizzard !-Life is not easy for a Chihuahua living almost where Santa Claus lives!

To change the subject, the above is a fresh raspberry pie which I made yesterday afternoon--  We had no ice cream tho, so we ate it just plain, and it was still good--I like it a bit tart  and it was still warm , from the oven.
And this is our daughter and her family, in Ohio---who we haven't seen for over 2 yrs-- They have no snow---
I must tell yu also that on my trip in the night, taking wee Lopez out, we met Sushi on the stairs heading upstairs--  It's good to see that she wanders around in the night now.--and I must also say that  himself has been very much his old self yesterday and to-day---so, life is good once again---Lord love a Duck! Life sure is different as one ages isn't it?
I hope we survive  the craziness going on in the world to-day-- I suppose if I take one minute at a time--"LIVE FOR THE MOMENT"---say a few prayers to the good Lord--be kind to Chihuahuas and cows, and people I meet at a distance of course---smile , -----I can get thru this!
        Santa will soon be here!------

  1. Very little snow here so far just rain and freezing rain which means ice everywhere. Our Newf loves it but then she is a Newfoundland. . . the colder the better for her taste. Still decorating for Christmas and plodding through life in NH.

  2. The picture of the lake is beautiful, you really can see for miles. Poor Lopez is going to be more of a spring, summer and fall dog. Too bad he can't hibernate through the winter and miss the cold and snow. Happy to hear that everything is back to normal again. Be careful and stay warm in the snow and have a great day.

  3. It's hard not seeing relatives for years at a time. But we survive it.

Hang in there, little Lopez. I have Chihuahua owning friends here in town, and when the snows come... well, they have to shovel a spot for those little guys!

  4. Lopez is the reason we do not have a dog after losing both of ours...lol.
Glad to hear Himself is feeling more himself....
Stay away from the pie girlfriend, you want to lose more lbs...

  5. We still have no snow in Denver, CO. We desperately need it, over 225 days without snow. Our mountains have it, but not down in the city.

Aww, little Lopez having to go out in the cold. My little guy was so cold last year we bought him boots (he has a few coats already). He did well with them on.

    The pie looks scrumptious!

  6. Beautiful picture of your surroundings. My 90-year-old uncle's take on aging is that it's "interesting".

    1. My 95-yo dad opined before he died, that “Getting old isn’t for sissies!”
      😂

I think he actually meant it, too.

    2. Oh goodness! A blizzard. I won’t complain about our weather!

Hurray for Lopez learning to use the pad for poop! Goood boy.

Ohhhh fresh, warm raspberry pie. My mouth is watering!

Great news that Himself is more back to himself. Hurray!

Yes, we have to hand in there so that Santa stops!

  7. Our coonhound Cayenne hates the cold. In the winter she is usually out and back for potty breaks, as fast as she can manage, except for one thing.

If she smells something interesting while out there, she is suddenly NOT COLD AT ALL, and is compelled to sniff around, tracking whatever it is. 😂

I guess complaining about the temperature takes a back seat to Investigating Things.

I wonder whether a small dog with more furry insulation might tolerate the cold more easily than one with short hair?

I sometimes think Cayenne’s short fur contributes to her preference for warm places. That dog has more clothing than either of us! 🤣

  9. The scenery is beautiful but I'm with Lopez..I prefer to stay inside. Lopez is certainly a challenge. Hoping he can get a consistent poo/pee pattern that works for you.
Sorry you haven't seen your daughter for so long. Hope you'll see her soon
Your pie looks beautiful...but..that would add weight on me :(
    Glad himself is better yay

  10. Crazy on how time is flying by. Hope you keep on training him to do his "business" outside. Persistence will prevail.

  11. Your place is looking like Winter Wonderland! Beautiful. A Chihuahua in the North Pole? That's amazing. =)) Your DD's photo with her family is adorable. Have a Marvelous Monday!

  12. Poor Lopez, he's so little to be braving the blizzard. Daisy is just 40 lbs but she's got pretty short legs. It's even hard for her when we get those snowstorms that bring in a foot of snow! We got a little more snow last night but the temperature really dropped and the wind picked up like blazes! Today when I let Daisy outside I stand inside the garage away from the wind.

  13. I learn so much from reading your blogs. I now know I will never get a small dog only because I couldn't put them out in the cold to do their business and I certainly do not want them doing it my house.
I have learned that you can bake nice pies that make my mouth water. I have been known to sit down and eat an entire pie, especially a berry pie all by myself! And never felt any remorse for my actions. No regrets! I look back and think to myself what would sparkpeople say about me! LOL

  14. Pie looks absolutely fantastic! Wish I was close by. Picture looks great but I hate the snow even though I grew up in it. Poor Lopez - please keep the pee pads in the sunroom for him - winter is only starting - poor little guy. My little one loves the snow and has a thick fur coat that can get real wet! Glad himself is doing better hope he stays that way over

Pie looks so good. Wish I lived close by! Poor Lopez. Hopefully he gets more used to it. I never did and I lived here my whole life. Please keep pee pads in the sunroom for him for the winter. My sheltie loves the snow and she has such a thick fur coat which can get pretty wet if she doesn't have her coat on. Glad himself is back to normal for now - hope it continues. Picture of lake looks pretty and the one of your daughter and her family too. May things return to normal next year and they can visit.

  15. Yay! Little Lopez is doing so well and you are the best mom ever! Chat away about him. He is a big part of your life and lots to say about him. I'm glad himself is being good for Santa and for you! lol That pie looks amazing! You are right, no snow in Ohio. We had a couple inches last week for a day and that has been it. Not complaining though. Glad you are doing well!:) Take Care!

  16. Here in my part of MN there is no snow yet. Up near the twin cities there is.

I am happy you found puppy pads. My friend has used them for her wee one for years. It's hard for her with RA to take her out as she is on the second floor of our apartment building.

It's hard being away from our kids, isn't it? I have 2 boys still in the Chicago area that I haven't seen in over 3 years. They each have lovely wives and 2 boys.

    Sigh. Yes, life is certainly different as we get older. {{{HUGS}}}

  17. Where does your daughter live in Ohio? I used to live in Columbus, all my life save for 3 years. Moved to Newark, Ohio, b/c it's cheaper, 2 1/2 years ago, and was born here. We DID have some snow about probably 3 weeks ago now, but it was like an inch of wet snow. I did get out and take pictures of it though b/c I love taking pictures.

  18. Lovely pictures, Lynda, thanks for showing us. Who talked you into getting a Chihuahua? They should have given you a lifetime supply of pads. Breeders that lied.
I wish you could see your daughter soon! Darn it all!

  19. Oh Lynda, keep a pee pad by the door inside, don't make wee Lopez go out in the cold. Take her age & weight into consideration, too tiny to be in that cold snow. This is 'mom's advice.' :)

Your daughter's sons sure are growing, her oldest will soon be as tall as his father!

I'm happy to hear that Fred is more like himself, maybe he's caught the Christmas Spirit!

Hugs to you both and your cat Sushi & dogs Beau & Lopez.

  20. I would definitely keep using that pad. Poor little thing! Trading will go much better in the spring.
