An old Irish Blessing-

Good Friday---  and a holiday --AND--no snow falling--minus 2 C----  Lopez and I "hoofed" it up the road---He did NOT do his business--but----- he will eventually--

It is so nice to have ALL the stores closed--no pressure to get to town--and--the 'hair" is done--and yesterday, I even stopped at the grocery -and the pet store, for Sushi's kibble plus a small bag of bird seed--  There are lots of birds at the feeder--more everyday--

How is your day going--to-day--so far so good?---I am hoping to work on the taxes----dunno if that will happen, but it sure would relieve a lot of stress--worrying about when I am going to get it all together--No Sadie to-day---  I gave her Easter weekend off--(LOL)---- so yu all may see her at yer house---  Let me know if she makes it across the border.

I had a call from my older sister's son, yesterday--  apparently he is helping rescue large dogs--and after they are taken to somewhere, to chill and given lots of tender loving are, they are rehome-ed--and he drives them where -ever---  a volunteer  job, and  such a good thing----hard to think that some dogs live a challenged life--abused etc---

So, have yu got your Easter Bonnet ready for to-morrow-- Easter Sunday?- My Mom used to take my sisters and I, to a hat store, in London, ON., and we always wore that hat to Church, Eater Sunday---  I do not remember too much chocolate  being around in those days-at least at our house.

But, when raising our own children, they each received a small chocolate bunny Easter Sunday-Son #2, the Pilot always would eat the back of some of his brothers and sister's chocolate rabbit--and put it back in the box, so it looked like it had not been eaten---but, eventually, the child would discover what had happened and I'd hear a lot of weeping and whaling--Funny what one remembers--

I hope to-day finds you "Happy"-----A day to be home here makes me more relaxed--I might even bake some muffins this afternoon--
-especially to-day------the Queen of the house----

Below---- a nice Blessing --to think about---even if you are or are not, Irish--

  2. Yes, I remember the whole Easter ensemble Mom and Dad would provide for my brothers and I. I loved dressing up back then. Now . . . well, whatever is comfortable works. LOL

I always gave my kids a chocolate Easter Bunny every Easter. Will do so on Sunday when we are together. Can’t break tradition, right! Awwwww son #2 was an instigator!

Glad you gave Sadie the day off. She deserves it!

Wishing you a peaceful, beautiful and happy Easter . . . to Himself, Sushi and Lopez, too.

  3. Hi Lynda! Sunny and high 53 here in Ohio today. Rainy tomorrow, cloudy for Easter Sunday. Lots of rain next week and snow Thursday. Spring has to be near. Sadie here tomorrow and in the kitchen for some food prep for Sunday dinner! I may have to nibble the back of my rabbit along the way! Lol Funny the pilot did that! Our stores are open but don’t need anything. Happy Good Friday and enjoy your weekend off! Hugs!

  4. My dear sis, Easter Sunday is the day AFTER tomorrow. Don't rush it. When my kids were small we always colored eggs on Easter Saturday.
We were going to have a big meal in our Community Room, but the planner called it off. Her plans with family changed so now it's back on.
I will bring my broccoli cheese casserole (just like green bean casserole, but with cheddar cheese soup and broccoli together with the crispy onions) and fruit salad (crushed pineapple in juice as the base with mandarin oranges, marashino cherries and mini marshmallows). Hope lots of residents come. The Somali refugees that live here probably won't.
Never did get an invite from my daughter, but at least I will be with friends.
Lopez is a good doggie. He will do his thing when it's ready to come. Hopefully, you will be available to walk him then.
I remember dressing up for Easter, too. Guess we all did 'back in the day.'
Sadie already has done a major chore here. Don't see her now. She must've moved on. Sadie needs time off, too.
Smile, my dear...spring is on the way! {{{HUGS}}} Love, Maggie

  5. It's Kathy. I love the Irish Blessing. My grandfather came from Ireland when he was 3. I always thought of myself as Irish even though the other 3 grandparents came from Norway! We do not have a holiday today - all the stores are open. I see that some are even open on Easter Sunday. My oldest daughter just invited us for Easter lunch - just Tom and me. So much going on with my youngest daughter and the horrible man who is her children's father. Now he's taking the car she's been driving. All I wanted today was to have a nice quiet day! He single handedly ruined that by the way he's manipulating my daughter. So now I have to take some deep breaths and relax! Your post always helps!!!

Mom always sewed new special dresses for the four of us girls for Christmas and Easter and had a studio portrait taken of us. We were sorting through photos a while back and laughed at one of our Easter outfits when it was just three of us at the time. Sister #4 asked why our pink dresses had candy cane designs on them. It dawned us us that it was becase that material was on sale after the Christmas holidays.

    Have a Blessed Easter.

  7. I had a couple of phases of hat-wearing in my life, one even as an adult. But none of them recent. I think it's wonderful what your nephew is doing for the dogs that need re-homing! I'll think of him on Sunday when my Ember is on her way to me. Life will be different, already is as I prepare the house.

Happy Easter to all up your way, bonnet or not!

  8. Hi Lynda: Happy Easter. No Easter bonnet for me. Only wore them for a few years when I had to as a kid. Hate hats. If staying home all day makes you feel more relaxed, you need to try and do it more often. Sounds like the pilot has always loved eating! Sounds like your nephew is looking for another dog for you! Many rescues are really good dogs. Love the Irish Blessing. Have a good night. Brenda

  9. Marti here. Yes, dear Lynda, Easter Sunday is NOT tomorrow, but the next day! :) Yes, I remember on Easter going to my grandmother's - who lived HERE, and my Aunt and Uncle, who also lived here, we came from Columbus, and I always had to dress up and wear a DRESS, I despise dresses, and a HAT, which I also despise. Then we had to go to church, which I found boring. BUT then there were Easter egg hunts, and we got to go to the country club where my Aunt and Uncle were a member of, and have an Easter buffet. No Easter buffet this year, going to my cousin-in-law's 10 min away.

  10. Hi Lynda, lovely Irish blessing. Nice to hear that your enjoying not having to run anywhere today. Sadie was here early, before the gym.
    It's WARM in St.Louis...like mid 70sF warm.
We've got a chance of rain on Easter so I hope it doesn't ruin egg hunts. I love making Easter eggs but haven't done it for years. No grandkids so no baskets. I bought ONE Reeces peanut butter egg for hubs. I can stay out of trouble.
That's cool what your nephew is doing. Do you think one of his rescues will find your address?
I like the story of pilot son nibbling on the siblings rabbits lol. Guess he's always liked food.
Stores are open here. Almost all stores are closed Easter Sunday. I hope it doesn't rain on Easter as that means rain 7 Sundays in a row....at least that's the story around here.
I hope it warms up at your house and the snow is GONE.
I had to scrub my front porch again today. The darn birds insist on making an unsightly mess on the light and concrete below. I'll send them to your house.
Good luck with tax prep. I'm glad I got ours done.
I finally picked up The Good Good Pig from library. I had to reserve it as it's constantly checked out. I'll start reading it this weekend as we'll be home aside from church.
    Hugs and blessings
