A phenomenon called, "Analysis Paralysis"---

January 30th--I think  !----I have been out clearing the bricks (in front of the garage) of snow--  It feels like about 4 to 5 inches of  wet snow has  fallen, and it is supposed to keep on snowing until around noon -- I can drive over the rest--out to the back road--and pack down the snow--I think--

I hope that you got out of the right side of the bed- (Dad used to say that)-- If it makes you feel any better, only one more day in this month of January--then--February---and then---- windy March--and then---S_U__M_M_ER----  Whoop-de Doo!----

We won't need all the heavy parkas--or snow boots-- but------ as we get older-well, you know----- we do begin to forget  things--

I must tell you also that my new Doctor  called yesterday--This seems to be the norm now-- one doesn't go to see the Doctor--  Instead you have a telephone appointment--which is at a certain time-- The clinic said--The Doctor will call you at 4pm-- The DR. called me at 5-30pm--My daughter told me that in Ohio, she doesn't even get a telephone appointment, but has to  send her Doctor an email, and eventually  her Doctor replies with another email--  At least I hear a voice on the phone--She does not--Times sure have changed--

Anyway, I was told , that in my recent echo of my heart, my blood pressure was elevated--I wanted to say, "No GUFF"---because I did not enjoy getting that "echo"--lying half naked for an hour while about 100 pictures of my heart were taken---

So---now---- for the next 2 weeks, I must take my blood pressure morning and night, and report back to this Doctor--This morning my blood pressure was OK--- I think---I get the feeling that "in my older age" ---I may be  beginning to  live on the edge--Lordy Be!!!

Time does fly , doesn't it??------ but-----there is always good news-- WE ARE THE PILOT---We decide   what to do now----  I think------One can listen to all the grown kids  suggestions----  and weigh them----then decide in what direction to go--

--- Do you feel, "over the hill"?----Do you think like you are older than old??--- -----
Of  COURSE NOT !

but--it might take us longer--- because we enjoy the view  now, more--

----Nowadays, I  jump right in there--and do what I think is necessary--
So, should I have been out there , clearing the bricks of snow?--Lord love a Duck-----(Now tell me, who on earth is going to do it?)

  1. Hi Lynda…I am definitely guilty of analysis paralysis…especially when Christmas shopping! It is a frustrating affliction to have because it makes every task soooo long! When my doc asks me to record my BP twice a day that immediately makes me nervous and thus it elevates it even more!! Hope that you don’t have to shovel too much more today!❤️

  2. It's Kathy. Many days I feel like I'm older than old, especially lately. It seems like there's just one problem after another. Daisy is fine. Her Vet said that she throws up phlegm some mornings because it's been so long since she's eaten. I've been trying to feed her a little bit later and then make sure she gets a couple of milk bones before she goes to bed. She finally ate about 10 am and after that she's her regular self. We even got out to take a short walk yesterday. It's suppose to be really warm here tomorrow and for the rest of the week. I like the idea that I'm flying the plane! Have a lovely day.

  3. Hi Lynda: Love the meme of the 2 ladies and the comment about taking longer because enjoying the view more! Can't believe that your daughter has to email her doctor and get a reply by email. Thought our phone consults were bad enough. Take it easy with the shoveling for your BP. Have a relaxing night. Brenda

  4. My Blood pressure goes up every single time I have to go to any dr.
I had the EKG and Echo as well, and will get a new STRESS TEST on Feb. 5th. I've been on meds for a long time for the BP because being a caregiver is stressful.
Hope your week goes well...I have to now watch my salt & sodium and other stuff.......makes for blah food.
    Good luck.

  6. Hi Lynda
    Hope your day went well
Sorry to hear you had to shovel again. Hopefully. Snow season will be over SOON.
I enjoyed all your inserts. The last one says it all.
I assume your heart murmur wasn't a concern to the Dr. as you haven't mentioned it since your test. Don't worry about BP. The log is merely to track trends. If need be, your Dr. will subscribe meds. I've been on meds for decades...I'm still here.
Relax and TRY not to worry..doesn't change a thing.
    Hugs

  7. Hi Lynda! It sounds like you have quite a bit of snow and back at cleaning the bricks. It has been cloudy for days here in Ohio. No snow that I can see for several days so that is a good thing. I think maybe a bit of sun this weekend. I can't wait. Yes, your daughter is right. It is all through email and my doctor never understands what I am talking about and he replies with nonsense. I have an actual appointment in April so maybe I can explain things to him better. I was on a baby dose of blood pressure pills for a few years but then it started causing me a lot of pain and neuropathy. So much better now that I have been off of it for 6 months but I watch my diet very closely. Especially, the sodium. About 10 years ago I tried a few different blood pressure meds and I couldn't tolerate them. It was during menopause so it worked itself out. So far, so good without anything again so I hope it stays good because if not, I have no idea what med would even work for me. I hope yours stays good during your recordings and that it all works out well for you, too! My mom and two sisters take meds and I am the oldest so I must be careful. It will be nice to get through February and then we will be in the home stretch to better weather. I did have a doctor appointment in Medina several years ago the end of March. We had whiteout conditions coming home. No more out of town appointments for me before April! Hope your day was great!

    2. Yes, she lives about 30-40 minutes from me. Great for the good readings. Light rain here tonight.

    3. So--your daughter is in Medina--- When I go to the post office to mail her anything--they used to say, "Now where is Medina"?--=and --- I would say, "It rhymes with V-AG-INA"---- and they would not say anything else--I always got a laugh about that-- Lynda

    4. No, I don't have a daughter. Your message said that YOU had a daughter in Medina. lol Anyways, that is hilarious!!! You making that rhyme! Cracks me up!!! You are too funny!

  8. Posting late again, due to issues all day. Someone tried to hack my FB, took $50 out of my account, bank gave fraud alert...I won't go on. You get the picture.
Those tests are awfully difficult to do...BTDT
My blood pressure goes up and down. I quit the meds due to side effects. Now I'm taking CoQ10 and trying to move more. You don't have to worry about doing that. Meditation help my stress.
You may be reading comments as I am typing, so I'd better publish this.
    Hope your day went well and your brood behaved themselves. {{{HUGS}}}

  9. I am shocked about the doctor and email or phone. I live in a small town area and we still have the same treatment as ever except I will sometimes send him a question on the computer and the nurse will send me his answer but if I want an appointment I can go on the computer site and find a time I like and schedule it that way. I guess I shouldn't complain if it takes a week or two to see him.

Love the picture saying we have seen it all, etc. Sorta how I feel.

    1. Dot--- YU are so lucky that yu can see your DR--WE can also, but--they prefer all this telephone visiting--Lynda

  10. Oh for sure. The norm is to send an e-mail to the Dr. then you get an e-mail reply through the nurse, which only leads to MORE questions, MORE e-mails, and on it goes. Sometimes get a videoconference appt. That takes forever to get an appt. that way, though, but . . . have to make it work, right!

YIKES! ½ hr. for the echo to be done, which you didn’t especially want in the first place, then you have to be uncovered, too. Yeah, I think my blood pressure would be up, too! Well, hope things fall into line for you.

Yes, grown kids have MANY suggestions to offer, but … . not always aligning w/what works for you! OY. So, yes, pick ‘n’ choose and do what works for you!

All I can say is . . . in my head I’m 21, but my body says, “woman, you’re gonna be 70 next month. Behave!” Oh well, behaving isn’t always easy to do, is it.

DD asks me all the time, “Wouldn’t you like to be 28 again?” Uh . . . NO! Perfectly fine right where I’m at.

Yes, I remember reading an article in Spark People about analysis paralysis. It IS a thing!

I take CoQ10, too, at the suggestion of my Dr. Might be worthwhile looking into!

    What the research says
Research on CoQ10 use for specific conditions and activities shows:
Heart conditions. CoQ10 has been shown to improve symptoms of congestive heart failure. Although findings are mixed, CoQ10 might help reduce blood pressure. Some research also suggests that when combined with other nutrients, CoQ10 might aid recovery in people who've had bypass and heart valve surgeries.
Diabetes. Although more studies are needed, some research suggests that CoQ10 may help reduce low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol and total cholesterol levels in people with diabetes, lowering their risk of heart disease.
Parkinson's disease. Recent research suggests that even high doses of CoQ10 don't seem to improve symptoms in people with Parkinson's disease.
Statin-induced myopathy. Some research suggests that CoQ10 might help ease the muscle weakness and pain sometimes associated with taking statins.
Migraines. Some research suggests that CoQ10 might decrease the frequency of these headaches.
Physical performance. Because CoQ10 is involved in energy production, it's believed that this supplement might improve your physical performance. However, research in this area has produced mixed results.
