Spend time making memories--

Good morning--  We have an overcast day here--very mild--no snow falling--  but misty--The boys , as in dogs, have been out--and in, ---a couple of times here----the wash is done--the Dyson  vacuum moved around---

I read some of you had freezing rain yesterday-- That is the worst!---dangerous!---  I remember, growing up, in London, Ontario, and there was an ice storm there that lasted for days and days---  I loved it all-- I was about 7 or 8 yrs  old, so it meant that schools were closed---no power------and  we  lived in our family room, which was warmed by a fireplace-- ----Mom somehow cooked--- maybe on that Coleman stove Dad had---or-over the fireplace--- and we huddled around that fireplace, sleeping beside it, even at night--It felt like we were camping-----good memories---We were the only ones with a fireplace, I think, and, as a few of our neighbours would appear at meal times--or huddle beside us to keep warm. Of course it was a wood fireplace-

Anyway, during that ice storm,  I thought life was the best!-----  Life was cozy! ---Now, when I hear of freezing rain, I imagine cars sliding off the road--people falling on sidewalks---

You know, my ice storm memory, would've been about 60 or 70 yrs ago--How on earth can that be??--

Here 's hoping that your day is going well--that you find time for "YOU"--that you remember to stop and remember good times  in your past-- your Mom--your Dad---when life seemed so much simpler--

Here I am, trying to "de-clutter"  this house--Everything I pick up has a memory---Pictures Of each of our children , growing up----and - I never heard of Alzheimers --or Dementia------Did you?---

Enjoy living to-day---perhaps take a little time to remember life-, simpler times maybe---make some memories to-day---

--  Hugs to yu all---

  1. It's Kathy. What a wonderful memory! It's funny about memories, isn't it. Yours makes me think about the time after my children's father left us - my twin boys were 11. On Friday nights, they would gather firewood and I would make a fire in our fireplace. Then we'd eat pizza and watch a TV show called Brisco County Junior! It was the best time - the girls would all be out babysitting or with friends. I think both our parents had a lot of the same sayings! Must have been a generational thing. Yes, things are very hard for my daughter. I just got off the phone with her after an unreasonable request by her children's father. He is totally harassing her and the two boys trying to look like a good father. Totally makes my day more challenging too! I hope you have a good day today. We did have some icy roads early this morning but I believe it's warmed up enough now to just be wet!

  2. Dealing with the ice again today but going nowhere and we are warm in the house, so . . . fingers crossed it clears up but we have what we need right now, so will go with the flow.

Yes, I have many things from when my parent slived here. Have to get down to brass taxes and sort through it and take pictures of what I want to remember but don't need and get on with it. So hard when memories are what you see when you look @ something!

    have a good Wednesday!

  3. The rest of yesterday must have gone well for you or you have put it in the past and decided to begin again. That's what each new day...even each new moment...is.
I have a new Shark vac. Looks like it is going to be perfect for what I need. Tried to use it a bit yesterday, but I am not quite steady enough on my feet...yet.
We have mist, but temp is above freezing. The freezing rain didn't come yesterday unless it was during the night. No icy lot today, though. That freezing rain is forecast again for this afternoon and overnight. We will see.
Already did some Sadie chores today (she is such a great helper). There will maybe be more to come later.
Had a great lunch, did an errand, too. Now Lucky is deciding it's time for our snuggly nap. It's brief on my part. Sometimes I fall sound asleep. Sometimes I sneak out of bed when he is 'out for the count.'
Let's hope our weather continues to be not to awful for us to deal with.
Hope you get some time to relax, too...your music, your kindle, a nap...
    Be happy, sis. That's what I wish for you! {{{HUGS}}}

    1. It has not been a good day with Himself--I am beginning to realize that I must accept that this is almost the "normal" with him--Poor yu--Are yu still suffering from that "fall"?-- WE have a Dyson and it is easy to use--no cord to drag around-- Please keep reminding me to be happy-- so hard when Himself is so "down" on the world-- but--I try--- PS --I love my kindle-- Hugs my dear friend-Lynda

  4. Weather is warming up here -but have had lots of rain, which has caused a dense fog with low visibility. I ventured out to go to a special exercise class and drove very slowly! It's 1:00 PM and it is still very foggy! About STUFF - I feel overwhelmed with all I have accumulated through the years. Have been trying to donate, toss, recycle this STUFF. Yesterday I went out and bought 5 large clear Sterilite tubs and 4 smaller ones to put STUFF in that I will store in basement.....trying to make it organized and less cluttered....now if I can just convince myself to take the tubs to the basement and get started and quit procrastinating! Hope you are having a great day!

  5. Thankfully our dreadful ice is passed. Now it's rain and FOG. I don't have any "fun nor happy" memories of any past ice storms. Perhaps I'm too old to remember anything good about them.
I'm grateful I'm not someone who holds onto "things". Perhaps because I've seen firsthand what happens to the treasures of deceased family members. To me, no point in keeping:stuff" I don't want, need or use. Trust me, your kids won't view extra items as things they want. Be ruthless about purging. They'll thank you and besides maybe someone else has a need for something you don't need. And, Sadie will have less to dust.
    Hope your day goes well.
    Be warm and safe.
    Hugs and blessings

  7. Hi Lynda: Miserable rainy day! It's going to be some colder tonight so hopefully everything doesn't freeze especially for walking the dog! I used to have lots of memories of my family but during moves in the past little while and when I had to clear out my mom's that my brother had been living in for 25 years, I had to get rid of everything so lost most memories other than a bit that I had with me from over the years. Now I don't have a ton to get rid of and no one to leave it to! Keep on decluttering. Hope himself is doing better this week. Have a good night. Brenda

  8. Marti here. Yes, my dear friend and neighbor who passed, had her funeral services last Friday, we went, yada yada, and now her family has been picking through her "stuff," deciding what they want and what they don't. It's sad to see. And her daughter who is nearest will be doing the rest of it. I already have dibs on the metal shelving units in her garage. I dearly need them, as I have no shelves at all out in my garage.

Anyway, I feel kind of melancholy since she's been gone, and with all the crappy weather we've been having. Gray, raining right now, but 52 degrees.

  9. Good evening, Lynda! It's been raining all day here in Ohio. I just wanted to nap but with Tommy that did not happen. lol I did get his neutering scheduled so I am hoping that will calm him down a bit. So many memories as a child when life seemed simple. I guess we have to put our mind to it to make it seem somewhat simple now. Hard to do at times but it does help when we can. I hope you had a nice day and enjoy your evening!

    2. Yes, we lost our first one a year ago. He was 11 1/2 years old and we have an 8 year old female and Tommy who is 8 months old. He keeps me busy, indeed. I think Lopez is way better acting by now than Tommy. lol

    4. I remember as a grade schooler my mother forcing us to go to school on ice, and as we slid across the road one of the neighbors said is on the radio...schools are all closed. Mom didn't listen to the radio, she just wanted us gone. We had to go back home and she did not believe us. She finally turned on the old radio and the news hour rolled around and they named all schools closed...
      Looking back at memories.

    5. That is a funny story---- Mom used to say, "If there is no school, yu can't go as the teachers will not teach yu anything--just make yu watch movies--"--LOL-Lynda
