CHOOSE JOY!

It is "to-day"---  praise the good Lord! -I hope that forever, there will be a "to-morrow"----I hope to always go forward-- never back---Lord love a Duck! Yesterday was difficult--but---the best part, you all helped me thru it--so, it is just a memory now---and , I learned that it might've been better if I had just walked away----

Lopez--the wee Chihuahua, I guess has come into my life, (He thinks) ---  to be my "protector"---and has taken that role on in a serious way--which can be good and bad---

A few things have happened since yesterday-- A very nice lady did call and has offered to come here once a week so I might be able to do an errand in town, -with Lopez of course--and the nurses are returning to  now "dress" himself's finger-He is now on an antibiotic-- was told to NOT enter the Emergency section of the hospital--due to flu and Covid outbreaks there--and not to go to the medical clinic--for the same reasons--

We have  a very light snow falling outside---I have taken both "boys "  (as in dogs)--out-- but--they need to go again in a few minutes-- I also have a pot of Turkey soup  on the stove in the kitchen, which Himself keeps turning up the burner- on----  so, I must get downstairs soon to save it from boiling over--so, here I go AGAIN, giving orders to the "man of the house" who used to  give me orders--- sorta--

"Waves"---- eh---  I must try hard  to maintain a calm environment---  but---  there seem to be always "waves"--to watch out for---Lordy Be!  I used to look at my Grandparents, when I was growing up, and absolutely  loved them--never knew  that waves were probably crashing  around them also--

--my Grandmother on the far left--  my Grandfather on the right--  beside their house in Port Perry, ON., and my Mom and Dad below----Was life easier for them??--  probably not---
--and below, myself, much younger --never, ever dreaming of what was to come--- as we age-- You think, we should of had some instructions on aging?--- probably I would never have believed what I would've been told anyway--Deep thoughts   here---  too deep---

As it says below----  life will always be complicated---We must learn to be happy right now---and--CHOOSE JOY!------

It seems to be snowing harder ---I must get the big boy and  "hector the Protector" (alias Lopez)---outside again----- I hope you enjoy to-day--Read a good book---- Smile at a Policeman--and --if you see a Pilot on your journey , it might be Son#2 , the Pilot, who is out in California right now--OMG--- He just phoned--- whatta good guy eh??--always checking to make sure all is good-- leaves there to-nite--back to Toronto--

something to think about--

  1. It's Kathy. I'm glad today is a better day, so far! It seems we just never know what the day will bring. But I agree, the best version of ourselves comes out during the difficult times! Still very little snow here but the temps are going to be dropping all day long. I guess I shouldn't complain, by this time in most years we're below 0. Turkey soup sounds so good! I love soup in the winter but my husband isn't much of a fan. I have found a few new recipes I'd like to try. I love all the pictures today! Wishing you a very good day today!

  2. Hi Lynda. Loved today's inserts. Glad to hear today is better.
Happy to hear you'll be receiving some help. Finally! You need it.
I don't think life was easier for our grandparents. Not at all. Just think about what they had to do for laundry and cooking.... we have it much easier.
Enjoy your day. A few visitors expected today for Fred.
Did you find your pot? Turkey soup sounds good but my himself isn't a fan of soup.
    Stay well and strong.
    And patient
    Love your positive attitude.
    Hugs and blessings

  3. So true that you must find the joy in the day! Makes me think of all that I have to be joyful and thankful for which in turn pushes the negatives to the back of the line. I'm still juggling the furnace problems but the first floor (which I really only use) is in good shape and the upstairs will be one day. Complicated by the fact I went from steam boiler with radiators to forced air (?) with ducts, etc. What good does it do to worry about it? However, I do miss the old moist heat I had before.

Take advantage of the lady who called about staying with Himself and you get your trips to town peacefully. If you don't take her up on it now, she may never offer again. D.

  4. Hi. Yep, COVID is going around, I caught it over the holidays, but I just had a touch of diarrhea and felt a bit run down for a couple of days, it's really nothing to worry about anymore, just like catching a cold, really. This was so mild that even a cold is much, much worse for me.

What did you hubs do to his finger?

    Glad help will be coming!

The WORST parts of me come out in times of crisis, you wouldn't want to even be near me then, LOL

    1. Well-who knew....anyone who reads this please pray for me.
Went to the dr. this morning short of breath and retaining fluid and he says he thinks the heart on the right is not working properly....and no way this man should have been working today as he was congested and sick and had shots etc......
He is referring me to a cardiologist closer to where I live.
I am sorry Himself gave you such a rough day and hope he gets to go back to his meetings soon and that you can get some help.
PS: My mother would have cracked my hands with the wooden spoon if I messed with her stove...LOL
Pray for peace around your home, and over you and tell # 2 he is appreciated by all his fans on here for being good to his mama.

  5. Hope no one gats that Covid, that was no cold! I had such bad diarrhea for days, actually had to throw my clothes away, seriously, keep away from Covid people. No JOY in it! Watch Himself with that stove messing around, that is when doctors say, time to go somewhere else to live, or they might start a fire by accident. Keep a good eye out.

  6. Hi Lynda, Hope that your turkey soup survived the stove long enough to be eaten and not boiled away….your protector, Lopez, has the sweetest little face but I’m sure that he takes his job seriously….very nice that your pilot son checks in religiously….hoping that your day has been peaceful!

  8. I hope you had a nice day and enjoyed your soup. Look at that sweet little Lopez! Always nice to hear your pilot son is safe and sound and checks in so good! Gosh, I hope Himself gets his finger healed quickly. That is terrible with the virus outbreaks. I guess it's worse this time of year, too. Yes, we must choose JOY and be happy although it can get a bit difficult at times. It has been cloudy 34 out of 39 days in Ohio. I need sunshine. That would make me extra happy. No snow so I guess that is good. Have a great night!

  9. Could simmer your soup in a slow cooker? Even if Himself turns it on high, it wouldn't burn. Even if you have to sautee things to start it in another pan, it would save you some worry.

  10. Bet you're already read comments. I am late again.
You're surely right about Lopez wanting to protect you. Lucky is my protector, too, if he is away. He follows me everywhere in the apartment...even the bathroom.
Yes, life can be hard, but there is always the saying about, hmmm... it's always darkest just before the dawn? Or something like that.
We are having an inspection tomorrow. Just 5 random apartments. The organization that runs our building wants to make sure appliances are workable, smoke detectors work, etc. Sure hope they don't come to my apartment. Since my fall, I haven't been able to do as much as I usually do. Sadie has been on vacation...or at your house.
Our resident manager says if my apartment is on their list, she will try to dissuade them.
Late, dear. Heading to bed now that my tylenol will have worked.
Tomorrow will be better for all of us.
    Oh! I saw in a newsletter that if you put a wooden spoon across the top of your pot where the liquid is, it will NOT boil over. Maybe Himself would take that spoon away, though. {{{HUGS}}}

  11. Well, glad you’ll get some help to go w/Lopez to town to do chores and have Himself safely looked after. That will be very helpful for you.

Happy to hear that there will be a nurse to dress Himself’s finger. Another pair of eyes to observe him. Hurray! FANTASTIC advice not to go to ER or medical clinic right now, UNLESS TOTALLY NECESSARY, of course. The flu, and RSV are rampant. Some cases of the new JN.1 covid variant, too, but the flu and RSV are chart toppers here.

Turkey soup . . . perfect for this weather. *SIGH* You’ll have your hands full keeping Himself from turning the heat up on the soup!

We are expecting snow (just a little) today and then a larger amt. next Tuesday and Wednesday. I’ll try to take it one day @ a time.

It is so hard to navigate those wavy seas, but you’re doing the best you can to keep yourself and Himself safe and healthy as is possible. Nah, each generation has their waves to navigate. Honestly, I think that’s how I learned to try to navigate the waves . . . watching my parents. Oh there were waves, for sure, but they always got through it. Not easy, but they did it, and so can we!

Awwww, little Lopez has a big personality! Love his nickname . . . Hector the Protector.

    Safe travels to son #2.

Know you have LOTS of support here and hang in there!

  12. Good days are to be prized! Glad you have some help coming in, and totally understand taking wee Lopez with you when others come in to help Himself while you run errands. Clearly Lopez has alpha-dog tendencies (as do many Chihuahuas), so he's protective of his pack (you)!

Hope everyone stays safe and warm!
