Winter-or-Summer?

I am posting a tad late---  I dropped Himself at his Day Program----then vacuumed --Sadie , the cleaning Lady, who, as you know, is really me--- hasn't been here in a few days----

It is cold outside--I plugged the car in, so it will be ready to pick himself up just after lunch--I believe it is cold everywhere--

We are already half way thru January---  so, just February--and the worst of winter will be over--Isn't it sad that we wish our life away--?--  We should be appreciating the winter! --  Do any of you ski??-- I took lessons, way back when,  at what I thought was an enormous hill--( It was the beginners hill)--I bought fancy clothing--and skis --and I was taught how to get to the bottom of what I thought was a steep  hill--This was my first year, after gradating in nursing--It seemed like a cold sport--  I really did not enjoy anything about  being on skis--My children loved to ski-- They started early--on our local hill--I used to drop them at our hill, in town, early in the morning-- then pick them up at 4pm--

Another sport in the north here , is  travelling on the trails on their snow machine ---another very cold sport--We have a pool here in town, (under repair now)and that is a lovely warm place to be--my kind of sport--swimming--

Anyway,  my favourite season  must be summer--or fall--Winter seems like so much work----but--I do remember, as a kid, absolutely loving the snow--dressing up in our snowsuits and playing "blizzard"---  actually pretending we were out in a blizzard and being lost--

I hope that your day is going well---It's almost time to pick up Himself---Hopefully no more snow storms for a long time---- Funny how one's life changes as one ages eh?-----I would never EVER play blizzard now--

Enjoy to-day---

  1. It's Kathy. Yes, it is very cold here too. I am not a fan of the cold. I did try skiing once, that was enough for me. When Tom and I got married we bought all the gear for cross country skiing - my parents loved doing that. But we've never even used it! I'm for staying inside until it warms up!

  2. Yes, it is definitely cold here, too.

Not a fan of many cold outdoor sports! I live warm weather sports (biking, hiking, etc.) better, for sure.

Glad you got Himself off to day care. Good for both of you. Travel safely!

  5. About all I wanted to do in the snow was make snow angels and snowmen and go sledding. After that forget it! I never lived near ski places or high enough hills so that wasn't on the radar. Now all I want to do is stay inside. We just have a light dusting of snow but that's enough to keep me happy. Drive safely on it - D

  6. Playing blizzard sounds like the kind of game that teaches children survival skills, although they think they are just having fun. I remember getting lots of lessons in preparedness from my parents... like the emergency kit to keep in the car, how to use a jack, change a tire, put on chains... once I was old enough to drive. We were invincible as young people, weren't we?

Anyway, here's hoping your day ends well, and everyone, human, canine and feline are safe and warm for the night!

  8. Hi, Marti here. I never even once tried skiing b/c I was born with a much smaller, shorter leg and a malformed, much smaller foot. It would have been too difficult to try to find different sized ski boots and skiis and all that, plus I don't like heights, typically you have to ride those ski lifts, and I didn't much like the cold either when younger.

Now, I'm always hot and the summer heat and humidity just about kills me, so I LOVE it cold. BUT, I don't like winter either, as it's so bleak here, and we seldom see the sun in Central Ohio. Which, as I understand it, is why we don't see too much REALLY cold weather, as the cloud cover keeps the heat in. Early spring is my season, and then fall.

  9. I love Winter as long as I don't have to go out in it. I do miss walking my yorkies in the neighborhood and talking to people. I do enjoy the quietness. I never did any skiing even though we used to live on a ski resort. My husband loves to ski and started playing hockey when he was a wee boy growing up in Minnesota. He still plays hockey. He loves it! I used to love roller skating when I was young but I would break something these days! lol I hope Himself had a great program. It is 9 here in Ohio this evening. It should warm up Monday. That will be nice! There was a big chemical leak in Medina County this morning. Enjoy your evening!

  10. Hi Lynda, glad himself got to day program. That should help the rest of his day, and yours too.
I've never skied. We played snow angels and had snowball fights...that's the extent of my winter activities. It's extremely cold again today. I'm not enjoying this at all. I don't like winter and I don't like the extreme heat and humidity of summer. Lol, guess there's no pleasing ME.
    Stay warm and safe.
    Hugs

  11. My earlier comment disappeared! I must learn how to do it on this Kindle.
I wrote about our long down hill road we used to sled on, of having to go ice fishing with my step dad, about how i can now walk around the apt without the cane or walker.
Also how it was great Himself got to daycare that i hoped you'd both get a nap done, too.
    I must figure out how to copy this so if it doesn't post, i can paste it again. {{{HUGS}}}}
