Keep on, keeping on--

--and----- Good Morning-- All is well here--NO STORM YET--but--It was minus 18 C outside  when I took the 2 boys out--(as in dogs)-Lopez wore a sweater under his coat--but, he only had bare feet to track over the ice etc-

The man of the house -HIMSELF__is at his Day Program--I took him-- took him right inside--then went for gas  in the car, as I do not like the tank to get empty when it is so cold---then I swung around to the deli--  bought roast beef --then the  grocery for fresh bread-- (to go with the roast beef)--
 then the Public Health office at the clinic--where I picked up 2 vials to test our well water--then home I came and took out the 2 boys AGAIN--as in dogs----  What a morning---

I hear that this storm which is barreling down on us--not here yet, but to-night it will be--I hear it is packed with high winds-----  and to me, that means another power  outage-Lord Love a Duck!

Oh well,  we will survive--  Winter is hitting us hard---making up for coming in late I guess---Good thing that we really are strong-
I must carry on ---  Sadie, that cleaning Lady, of course will not get here------ She will have to "button down the hatches" (an expression from Dad )-----and I must keep on, keeping on. Before I know it ,it will be time to pick up Himself-

Are you in the path of this storm???-----Of course , I know that we can handle it--

Before I get off of here, I wanted to  have you read about my Mom--hanging out, and always adding her 2 cents to what I type---  Do you feel the presence of someone you love,  screeching in your brain sometimes?--(-Anyway, I'm sure that you think   I have really lost it eh?--)------  I want you to read  the below

-so- hoping your day is special--  Of course , a wee dance will help to lift your spirits--

  1. We do have a winter storm warning. Snow the next several hours ( and days looking at it closer). Temp is 11.6C. The only thing I think is good about it is it's pretty.
    Cold in the apartment, too. I need to put on a thermal undershirt under my sweatshirt. After a few Sadie chores (she showed up here!), I will cuddle in bed again with Lucky.
    I am going to message you a great post I received today that explains it.
    My friends are wanting me to come back to karaoke tomorrow. Can't do it. There's no way I can load Joanne's bariatric walker when I needing to use a walker myself. That's 2 to load in the car, unload when we get there, etc. And I am moving very slowly even with the walker. The folks are used to me getting up on stage to sing. No way I can do that now either.
    So happy Himself got to his day care! Give you a little time to not concern yourself with what he is doing, get some tasks done, too. Maybe you can both take a bitty nap when he gets home. At least music, books, cuddle with Sushi?
    Let's hope the heat stays on and the storm isn't too terrible.
    Whatever you choose, please be safe and happy, Sis. {{{HUGS}}}

  2. Happy to hear that Fred got to go to his day care today - as it sounds like it might be awhile before you get out again if the storm is as bad as they say! I hope that you don't lose your power! We are also in the path of the coming storm that is predicting bitterly cold weather and high winds, but no snow until Sunday. The propane truck came this morning and filled my tank -Yay!!!! Made ham and bean soup and cornbread yesterday so I am ready to stay in and just read, mabye declutter some (hopefully) and clean like your Sadie.
    And yes, I hear my mother's voice....she died one year after my husband. Sometimes I think to myself that I am becoming my mother as I say and do things she did....and it kind of freaks me out.....but then I realize what a wonderful, loving, thoughtful woman she was (who loved her cats dearly) and I think maybe that's not a bad thing!

  3. It's Kathy. I love the little dancing girl. I do believe we need to dance more! Yesterday was my dad's birthday and I felt his presence with me all day long! We are expecting snow and the temps are dropping. My daughter is picking me up to take me to lunch - a celebration for my birthday on 12/28. I'm glad I don't have to drive. Then when I get home I think I'll just stay home until it warms up a bit! I hope your electricity doesn't go out with this storm coming! My dad also used to say "battin down the hatches". It made me smile! Have a good day.

  4. Oh, yes, in the path! It arrived overnight, and as I look out my window it is as though I live in a snow globe when the gusts pick it up and swirl it around. Remember years past when I would post photos of the drifts on my steps, that swirl into peaks like meringue on a cream pie? It's not quite there yet, but it's on its way.

    Hope you get Himself home and safe before you get hit with it!

    1. Well Barb, it's almost 6pm and they say it will hit here around 9pm--I'm afraid of the wind as it causes the trees to fall on the lines--and yes, I remember your snow drifts----Nice to be home here anyway-- Lynda

  5. Yes indeed, we are in the midst of this winter storm. It is potent. We have about 8 in. of snow now, and this bugger is supposed to wind up more tonight and not finish til noon tomorrow. As you say, Lord love a Duck! But we’re doing all right. Staying put. The next phase of this storm is Arctic Temperatures. BRrrrr.

    I hear my Mom, Dad and paternal Grandma’s words coming out of my mouth all the time. Definitely feel their presence, and honestly, it is comforting!

    So good that you were able to get Himself to the Lodge. Good for both of you.
    Just be careful out there.

    Hugs

  7. Stay safe with this wild winter weather. Hoping power stays on, I think we all want that. Here in Texas, the powers that be, wish it was still 1924, not 2024!, Afraid to modernize. Hope you have good food for this next phase, Lynda!

  9. Okay, Lynda...we got it! Snow, wind, the whole 9 yards. Snow continuing for days, temperatures dropping, etc. What a change from this morning. Change, though,, is what makes life interesting...and surely a challenge at times like this.
    Need to put my old fashioned leg warmers on.
    He heat man was here, and he had to install a new thermostat. My apartment is slowly warming up. {{{HUGS}}}

  10. Hi Lynda! Our storm hit about 3:30 this evening and we have high winds, as well. The Ohio Turnpike has some travel restrictions and many already do not have power. We are usually pretty lucky to not lose power so I am hoping that will be the case as the high winds will continue into Sunday morning. I hope your day has went well. Let's hope your storm won't be too bad and for sure that you do not lose power. It's good you got gas and picked up your roast beef and fresh bread. We did grocery pick up this evening so we are set and plan to stay home. Glad you took HImself to the program while you got a little break. Let's have a great weekend!:)

  11. Marti here. There IS a God, because...my 90 yr old neighbor, who, last Sunday, or was it Saturday? was at death's door in a nursing home, was rushed to the hospital with sepsis or something like it, and...came through it all and is out of the hospital and into another nursing home for rehab, and...is talking as is herself again. I just visited with her a few hours ago. She's very weak, b/c she hasn't been able to get any rehab yet, but survived all that, somehow.

    Yes, we're somewhat in the eye of things (Central Ohio). High winds expected, rain, show showers. And colddddd weather headed our way. I'm planning to stay home as much as possible and ride it through. As REO Speedwagon sings "Riding the Storm Out" :)
