Lordy Be! I broke out the Snowblower!

This was me, thinking I should " break out my EGO  SNOWBLOWER this morning--and below is me, after I did , and blew a couple of Chihuahua trails around the front yard--scare--y-!----first time I have used my handy dandy snowblower this winter!

Well, I did it, but----because we have a crushed stone driveway--- and Son#1 was blowing the snow over to the front lawn, the stones blew with the snow--and my battery snowblower, blew the stones that were on the lawn---- I was so afraid of breaking a Shear pin, --BUT---- I DIDN"T---  and--now we have 2 long Chihuahua trails for little Lopez---- He can run up and down my trails and do his business--

This morning, it was minus 20C when I took out the 2 boys-- Beau has no problem with the cold, but--Lopez's feet I think were frozen--He just wanted to head for the door--

Well, It is Sunday-and we sorta have sun---kinda hidden between the clouds---  and it is VERY cold---  I wore a face mask ---

How is your Sunday going?---Did you get much snow?--- Is winter there in your part of the world?--- It snowed all night here--lightly however--I saw , in town, on the smaller lake--beside the highway, some snow machines were crossing the lake on their snow machines--definitely not something I would do yet-- Our lake--Dunlop Lake, does not have enough ice yet--Hopefully no-one attempts  going out on it --  In the North here, many people have ice huts-, which they drag out onto the lake, and, sit in and fish-

I found the above interesting---  words such as "enthralling" and "tantalizing"---and--"sublime"---I never use--- but---  interesting---

Lunch time coming up here--and Lopez is just too quiet----So is Himself---I did not realize that successful people  do less Lying--Judging----and more--
I hope your day is going well-Will you get a wee nap in??--
Son #2 , the Pilot,  just called--He is in Calgary---- en route to England to-night-- He says it is so cold in Calgary that there is no-one on the street--minus 35 C---Lord love a Duck!

Enjoy your day--- Don't take stuff too serious-----  Try to read a book----get a wee nap in--- maybe dance a bit-- and hug your pet--

  1. Lynda, weather is similar here. Using celsius degrees we are -23.8 or figuring in the wind chill, it "feels like" -35. The gusts of wind are ferocious. Already went out for gas, etc.
My new thermostat still not working. Maintenance man brought up a space heater. Can't keep moving that big thing from room to room, though.
Doesn't it seem that when it rains, it pours?

I was in the midst of my fave solitaire game this morning when my monitor died. i am on my Kindle.

Happy your snow blower worked out. Very satisfying.
This cold is wide spread. Down in Chicago where i moved from 6 years ago, it is not quite as bad, but almost. I have FB friends in New England experiencing the same.
    We will welcome spring even more than usual. {{{HUGS}}}

  2. It's Kathy. Good for you for breaking out the snowblower to make trails for little Lopez. We still only have about an inch on the ground. Daisy is lucky to have so much fur - keeps her warm! It is going to be below 0 for the next several days. I had an appointment tomorrow but I've changed it to next week when it warms up some. I am not interested in going out in this cold weather. Love the memes of the little girl before and after! Stay warm.

  3. Happy Sunday! Our favorite day of the week. We have sun here in Ohio! I am so happy about that but it is 6 degrees! The ground is covered but just a couple inches of snow. Probably need to get the EGO batteries charged soon because I am sure we will need it sooner than later. It is cold but I am still drinking ice coffee. I had hot early this morning. Gosh, hope your pilot son took lots of warm clothes as he walks the streets looking for McDonald's. LOL So nice of you to get the doggie trails ready. I sure hope you get your nap and have a lovely day!:)

  4. Good for you firing up the snow blower. This snow is just deep. Now it's very cold, so no more doing anything w/snow removal. It'll have to wait till it warms a little. That won't be for awhile.

    Take good care, stay warm!

  5. You go girl...don't see anything you cannot do...it is 1 degree here with ground cover of snow, lookout this evening tho...there is a huge blanket just to the west of us and looks like we will be inundated soon. Do not over do, and keep your head covered and warm also..you already know that I am sure.
We all worry about you, and glad #1 showed up again and #2 always calls his Momma..............sweet.

  6. Have you considered getting Lopez winter booties to prevent frostbite on his feet and lower legs? He might be open to wearing them since he now accepts the parka. Wide selection out there by 'Googling'. Does your son's Chichuahua use booties?

Wind chills here in Central Texas in lower teens Fahrenheit. Rain and possible snow flurries coming soon with a hard freeze warning for tonight for a couple of days/nights. Large crockpot of vegetable soup in the works, stocked up on water and food. Potted plants moved inside and flower beds covered.

Hoping our electrical power grid holds up and we don't have a repeat of two years ago where many folks froze to death throughout the state. Our political figures in charge over the years have chosen to not be a part of the National Electrical Grid where power is shared among the States whereever it is needed!! There is one county as an exception, El Paso TX. We have a gas fireplace with ceramic logs so warmth from it if needed. Also out kitchen stove is gas so we can get by without our microwave. Spouse will grouse if he has to forgo his coffee maker for brewing and use instant granules and water heated on the stove.

Since this is not common, frequent weather in these parts, the big equipment to deal with it is not around. Our pipes are not deeply buried like colder climate areas. Sanding/salting highway overpasses that we are advised to stay off of is about the only precautionary. Also the winter clothing available locally not for extreme weather y'all experience in your parts.

Keep safe & as warm as possible!

  7. Brrr! I put in my blog that I woke to -22F, which is -30C for y'all who are more comfy that way. It's 2 p.m. as I type, and it's warmed up to -7F (-21C) and that will be close to the high... we might get another degree F out of the sunshine before it starts going back down again. So yeah, we may be to your south, but that ol' jet stream has pulled the cold air down our way.

Be careful. Hope the "boys" treat you well and come back inside promptly when they should! I take it Sushi is just staying in where it's warm? Prisoner has consented to use the litter box and stay in!

    Stay safe and warm!

  8. Hi Lynda: It is cold enough here - -6 feeling like -16C . Can't imagine being in Calgary feeling like -43C. Hope his McD's was close to his hotel/airport. Don't spend too much time outside and Lopez will be much happier inside! Hope you're able to take himself to daycare tomorrow. Stay warm tonight. Hugs Brenda

  9. Marti here. Today, or late last night, my dear neighbor and friend, passed away. My ONLY friend here in Newark. So I kept busy working on a small laptop that she had, so her family can use it. That is how I grieve. I also cleaned it up and put Christmas away for her like she had asked. She went in a horrible way, but painless.

About your doggie - there are snow booties for dogs. You can hit the Google and buy them online. They don't like them initially and walk around funny, but my friend swears by them. My dog, too, was lifting up his little paws when I walked him on the driveways, too cold for him. Not near as cold as you guys are, but for us it is - about 17 degrees, and going to be 7 overnight.

    Take care!

  10. I admire you messing with the snowblower! I would have moved away 6 years ago! So much time wasted to keep daily life going! It is a good thing you are strong. I’m a sissy, want to stay inside where it’s warm!

  13. The 2 little girl pictures are too cute. Great inserts today.
We only have an inch of snow but it was MINUS 10 Fahrenheit at 8am. I think it got to 2 degrees above zero around 3pm. The extreme cold is to last until Wednesday. I kept busy today organizing and purging all my kitchen cabinets and drawers, master closet and pantry.
Hoping the extreme wind gusts predicted don't materialize.
Stay warm. Be well and safe.
    Hugs and blessings

  14. So glad I don't have to take dogs out to do their business. That is one thing I hated. We haven't had a dog for over 12 years, and I miss the companionship. Our last dog needed to be walked before she would go. The weather here in SW Michigan is cold. -11 degrees F. we got a couple of inches of lake effect snow overnight. We ran out of bananas, and apples, we still have oranges so I hope they will last until Thursday when both hubby and I have Dr. appt.
    Take care
    Bev
