January, and February-- our 2 worst months of the year--At least , ice will be forming on the lake, so ice shacks will soon be dragged onto the lake, and people will sit inside them and fish--They build a fire- to keep warm in their shack--and, when this temperature begins to moderate somewhat, and the sun shines, I think they feel warm--as long as they are dressed for the winter.
So far, I have not seen any ski-doos on this lake---We do live on the Precambrian shield -about 4000 lakes in this area, formed in the ice age--The lake we live on, is very deep in spots--So---- Winter is really here--January and February-by the end of March, ice shacks have to be off the lakes, and the big thaw begins--
Sadie --that cleaning Lady, who is really me, promised to be here this AM--so I must get ready--"There is really no rest for the wicked"--Mom just told me, in my head--
Hopefully it has warmed up somewhat-but-- there is always something good to come out of everything--AT LEAST ITS NOT SNOWING--Lord love a Duck!--- It is almost the end of January-- then February--- and-- then----- maybe an early Spring--- Now wouldn't that be nice?I hope that you are having the best day ever--- Don't let the crazies get you down--and----always be "grateful for small mercies"--- (Oh no, Mom just popped that into my brain too!)-I just love this Lady --- ---______- Wouldn't you like to meet her?---------Off I go to get these dogs outside-after I layer up their clothing--and mine-----The Joys of winter eh?-Until to-morrow---- remember---
Sending (Hugs) your way
ReplyDeleteNice to meet yu-- and-Thank yu for the hugs-Lynda
DeleteOk, I’m not going to complain about our -17C temps. Going to get much colder, though. Oh well. Dress in layers.
ReplyDeleteYES, yes, yes. Definitely hear my Mom coming out of my mouth a LOT! Imagine. As a teen I swore that would never happen! LOL Little did I know.
Hope you have a good day!
Hugs

Yes, Mom spends all her time invading my head-LOL--- It makes one wonder about the "after life" doesn't it?-- very cold here to-day but--little Lopez did his business--such a trooper! Lynda
DeleteGood morning!
ReplyDeleteToday is the first day that my grandsons have gone to school! No snow last night. One day school week for them.
Today I am getting out of the house for lunch with a friend. I don’t have to drive far. I could walk if I were ambitious…. I’ve been home for 5 days. Have cabin fever! Ha ha
Stay warm and enjoy your day! Jacquie from Idaho.
Jacquie-- Yu are in Idaho-- Isn't that where the potatoes grow?--LOL It sounds like you are going to have a fun day-Lynda
DeleteI think you sent your snow to Ohio. Lol I was Sadie all day yesterday so I am just watching it snow and hanging with the yorkies. My husband is bringing pizza this evening. So a good day here. Hope you stay warm and don’t work too hard. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteYes the daughter sent pictures of "the blizzard" as she calls it--- nice not to have to think about supper--Stay safe-Lynda
DeleteWe got our promised snow yesterday at rush hour. All the cell phones in town blared with a "snow squall warning" that made me jump, safe in my own home. I hate to think how I might have reacted if I were driving at the time. Crazy!
ReplyDeleteStay safe and warm, and may Sadie have whatever energy she needs!
Thanks Barb--happy to hear that yu were warm , and safe, in yer home--Sadie got another room done-such an efficient worker!
DeleteLynda
Hi Lynda: Sure is cold there - cold enough here at -10C & -18 with the wind chill. I don't know how you go out and shovel, etc in those temps. Poor Lopez will hate it too. I hate winter and can't wait til spring. Did himself not go to daycare today? Can't imagine fishing in those huts in winter! Have a good night and keep warm. Hugs Brenda
ReplyDeleteIt's Kathy. Today is my cleaning day and I sure don't want to do it! I'm with you - I wasn't made for winter either. The only good thing about today is that I don't have to go out in it! Yes, it must be challenging to have been the person always driving and then not being able to! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteKathy--look lie you all have our snow-- Lynda
DeleteThis super cold in Texas helped cause a $16,000 slab leak, so, I really dislike winter now! Plumbers make a ton of dough here. Those saying you have in your head, at this stage are YOURS, lol, and you can give them to your young whippersnappers….lol. Stay safe!
ReplyDeleteNo rest for the weary was my mothers' saying...I actually made myself go to the hairdresser this morning, then rested in my truck (because couldn't go anywhere) semi's in the middle of town and one was parking so #2 stopped and so did traffic, so I made the best of it...lol
DeleteWe had some snow last night also, not enough to help the
drought, but we are up to a whopping 18 degrees here.
I'm not a winter person. Surprisingly, the air temp in St.Louis converted to Fahrenheit is about the same as yours. We had another inch of snow last night. That's plenty for me. It's dangerously cold again with extreme winds predicted for later today. I'm tired of these extremely cold Temps and winds.
DeleteI can't imagine sitting in a shack on the ice fishing but I know it happens. I think I remember one of your sons has a shack.
I had to get a few things at the store and couldn't wait to get back home.
Sadie was here early today.
Stay warm and safe.
Play your piano.
Very grateful the power has stayed on.
Sounds like himself didn't have outing at Lodge today.
Hugs and Blessings
It must be so hard to have to dig up the foundation of yer house---I do feel for yu-Lynda
DeleteAnd the older we get the stronger we need to be.
ReplyDeleteAs always, you are right. Upkeep in and outside the house, shopping, tending to pets and workers, so much to keep up with. But we need to take care of ourselves first or we can't take care of anyone or anything else.
I got my computer with its new huge monitor set up. I think I told you that the computer wouldn't turn on. I woke up with the thought, "Unplug it and plug it back in the way you would a cable box." I started to do that and found out that, although it looked alright to me, the power cord was not plugged in all the way! My grandchildren on my desktop look almost life sized now!
Hope you get a chance to relax now, sis. We all look out for each other here, and I love that.
No more snow here, either, and a couple degrees warmer. {{{HUGS}}}
You have yer-- new "puter--YEAHHHHH==so good that yu can set that up--and no more snow there--bad day here with Him self--Lynda
DeleteI DO NOT llike this cold weather....the older I get, the less I like it. If 3 of my 4 kids weren't in this area, I think I would move to a warmer climate. Son #3 lives in CA....but it seems like friends who winter in Florida have the warmest weather. I had to shovel snow for the 1st time today - we didn't get much but it drifted against my garage door and the back kitchen door. There was ice underneath the snow. I thought about you when I was shoveling....as I know you have been out doing it too.....haha! My thoughts were that us "old ladies" shouldn't be out here doing this...but wow - how strong we are that we can do it! So now I can get my car out, but with the temps dropping and bitterly cold wind chill warnings out, I don't think I will go anywhere. Thank goodness for an extra freezer in my garage with enough stuff in itto last me probably for a year! haha! And I am thankful that my two cat babies don't have to go outside to potty! Don't love cleaning litter boxes, but it beats going out in the cold! But you at least get exercise ever day taking your precious dogs out!
ReplyDeleteSandra--You had to shovel snow???-- We do not enjoy winter! -Hugs Sandra--Lynda
