Another day--to be strong!

Good morning---So happy that we are all alive and well! -----Thank the good lord eh??---I am up--Lopez and I ----Very cold here this AM---I took the recyclables to the road--hope "they" take them--And, I have the car running as I am going to venture up the road to Food Land--I also talked to 2 of the boys still living in Elliot Lake-
---also, spoke to son #2 , who was sitting in Punta Cana, waiting to fly an airplane full of people back to Toronto---
Terrible accident at Pearson Airport last night, but everyone  is alive ---Son #2 , was sitting  at the Airport in Punta Cana, with a plane load of passengers-- They all had to de-plane, as Pearson Airport in Toronto was closed after the accident-so  they had to stay in Punta Cana for the night--- He texted me in the middle of all that--

-I said to him, when I saw it was  him, "So, Are you heading home?"---and he replied, "Mom, turn on CNN"---The passengers are de-planing-"-
--- Lordy Be, I did not know what he was talking about--
So, He will return to-day ----

It is extremely fortunate that everyone is OK------ The weather in Toronto has been terrible--like 40 cm of snow has  fallen over the past 2 days--  Lakefield is about one and a half hrs from Toronto-----The runway in Toronto appeared quite snowy , looking at the TV with the plane on its side--

Remember to live carefree and thank the good Lord for everyday--I spoke this AM.,  to 2 of the boys in Elliot Lake--reassured them that one day , when my Himself is not here anymore, I shall return to Elliot--live in an apartment---Right now, Himself is enjoying this one level home--
We need to be strong women---  AND WE ARE__
Remember--I love you all to the moon and back--

  1. Lynda, yes, I posted again on yesterday's blog about the plane that flipped. My radio station posted a video of the event. It's amazing (and wonderful) that everyone, passengers and crew, is okay. Some did get injured, though, including a child.
42C?! That's like almost a foot and a half in inches! We have not had any more snow. It's the second coldest day of our winter, but the sky is blue. I am staying home again.
Lots of chores to keep me busy, games to play on my pc, kitty to love on, etc.
I know you will drive to Foodland carefully and wear your sunglasses to cut the glare on the snow.
I guess Himself, Lopez and Sushi are all fine.
You enjoy your day, accomplish what is most important, and get some leisure, too. Piano, classical music, nap, etc.
    {{{HUGS}}}, Love, Maggie

  3. I think of you and your son #2, and other pilots that I know, every time there is an air disaster. They really are rare, but it seems like a lot have made the news in the past month. Prayers for the safety and peace of all who work in that industry! And big cheers for the first responders in Toronto, and gratitude for the safety of those passengers and that crew!

Cold, cold, cold... here today. But I ventured out to make sure Ember gets her "day care" day. I really am not enough company to keep her happy... she needs extra people and other dogs! The cat is happy when Ember goes "to school" for the day, and it has taken him about six weeks to decide it's OK to come upstairs and bug mom on those days!

It's a day to be thankful that the furnace and the hot water heater are in working order!

    1. I understand how your cat does not come out with the dog around--same as Sushi--so she ventures around at night--- I am happy that she either sleeps with us or--- wanders around the apartment-- Matt is en route home --left Punta Cana---- sent me the wrong flight number so have'nt been able to track him--really a cold wind outside right now-- Lynda

  4. It's Kathy. My husband came upstairs last night to tell me about the plane that tipped over in Toronto. That plane left the Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport in the afternoon. So many times I've flown out of that airport! My husband doesn't fly - had a bad experience when he was a teenager and has never been willing to get on an airplane since. We saw a video of the plane approaching before it tipped over - it looked like it started on fire just as the back wheels hit the ground, then skidded and flipped. I give credit to the pilot for saving the lives of all people on board with only 2 critically injured. I'm glad your son was safe - good thing they hadn't left yet! I hope your sons understand why it was important for you and himself to move - and now it seems like you are getting so much more help! Good luck with your errands! Oh, woke up here to -16 AGAIN, I'm so tired of the cold! But they tell us by this weekend it will start warming up!

    1. My 1st comment got all messed up so I'll try again.
I know you miss Elliot Lake like I missed Vermont when we first moved to NH....But Lordy...you can't seriously be thinking of moving back someday. Those boys that live there didn't help you at all when you were there and they could have.....what makes you think you'll get any help if you go back.....you would be older any maybe not even able to do as much as you can now. Who is going to take you to the doctor or shopping? Did they ever take you out to eat or grocery shopping when you lived there? Why would they start if you go back? And there is the move itself....changing all the bank stuff, utilities, doctors, dentists and packing yourself all up again. Really seems like a bad plan to me. And now I will shut up....I just wanted to let you know my opinion.

    2. Your opinion is good --makes me realize how silly it all is I guess--I still would move back---but--the banking was just awful--changing everything--hopefully in time, I will not move again--my brains will return--LOL--No--got absolutely no help there for sure--- Lynda

  6. Sure wish I could figure out why my comments disappear...it is so disappointing! Not sure if I am doing something wrong or if the "blog police" don't approve of what I wrote and get rid of it! My most recent reply to your last blog related a story about my two cats....and their adjustment to our little rental home...and how they both sleep with me....and much more, but alas, the reply has gone to a place unknown! I really miss my beautiful home so much, but am happy to have a place to live for the next 9 months while my house is gutted, cleaned and restored.

  7. Hi Lynda, I think you might be happier if you try to just "live in the moment". You can't fix anything thing that happened yesterday. Tomorrow is not guaranteed for any of us. So today is what you've been gifted with, look for the positives in your day and live it to the fullest.

  8. Good cold morning -I agree with A1D2 that moving back would not be such a tremendous idea. She expressed it so well!! It has been 2 1/2 months since you moved and how many times have those sons called you? Gee whiz, they didn't even come by much when you lived there. I don't know of them helping much or stopping by to visit or drop off something to eat - surely they would make cookies for the kids and could have shared a few with you. The long time friends you had from over the years will be more like acquaintances now - let's face it, you are all getting older. I'm about 6 years older than you and believe me, it doesn't get any easier.

Have you found a new doctor yet? I guess that the shortage is a problem all over. Sad but gone are the days when you can just pick a name and go. Now if they would just figure out a cure for arthritis I would be in seventh heaven but I know that's not going to happen. I'm just glad that is all that is wrong with me! Have a great day. Dot

    1. Dot--All of you are so good to tell me "how it is"-- and to "hang in""--I really will try--I realize the boys in Elliot didn't help--I cannot understand why that was and I felt hurt--like-- They didn't think enough of me to come around--It kinda broke my heart--no--no Dr yet--no Opthamologist either--but--WE have a vet--LOL--Funny eh"?--So good of yu go write--Thank yu-Lynda

  9. Hi Lynda, I’m glad son #2 is ok. My first thoughts were of him when I heard the news. Would you seriously move back to Elliot Lake? Son #2 and his wife have been nothing but helpful and accommodating to you whereas you had no real help up there from the other boys. In the end it is your decision and I’ll support whatever you decide but do it without the rose coloured glasses.

  10. Lynda, if, and when you are alone and want to move back to Elliot Lake, that is your choice. And the family there, despite all the comments, did include you in events, and occasionally helped, but they all have jobs and families and that makes it hard to take on your life too. So, I would not be so hard on them. Son #2 and his wife have been extraordinarily helpful and so your new location was a great decision and you must “live for today” as the old saying goes and make the best of it. None of us know everything that the future hold for us.
So glad your pilot son is safe and returning home. And so glad you got to speak with the folks in Elliot Lake! I think you will like the new town when the weather improves. Hang in there and stay positive.

  12. Hi Lynda
Glad to hear pilot son is headed back. He and his wife have been incredibly good to you and Fred.
I'm sure it lifted your spirits to talk with a couple of Elliott Lake sons. It sure sounds like you miss them eventhough they werent able to help out much or even stop by much as they all work.
I keep hoping you'll meet people or find an outside activity with people so you can feel more settled in your new home.
    Enjoy your evening. Stay warm.
    Big hugs
    Marge/St.Louis

  13. Hi Lynda: Glad you've heard about the accident at Toronto Pearson. It was a smaller Delta jet and the Airport authorities here and in the US plus Mitsubishi are all here investigating. (I live fairly close to the airport so have heard more about it.) I have to agree with a lot of others that Matt and his wife have been far more helpful and considerate of you than the boys in Elliott Lake so I would think carefully before moving back in the near future. I'm glad himself is doing so well there. Hugs Brenda

  14. Glad you were able to talk to 2 sons in Elliot Lake and Son #2! I can only imagine the impact that accident had on him and his passengers. Godspeed.

Definitely have to thank the dear Lord for each and every day granted to us!

And for sure, I’d revisit the idea of moving again down the road and think very carefully about all you’ve been through w/THIS move. I can only say that I would not want to go through it again.

HUGS and blessings, and extra prayers for son #2 for a safe flight.
