It is snowing AGAIN----and lots of it coming down!---I have already been out shovelling around the car--but will be going out again as soon as I post this---- And in case you were wondering, YES--A lot of my friends are kinda crazy! They are the best kind you know--not afraid to laugh at ourselves-- ---Just look at the Ladies in the above picture--LOL---- Lotza fun !
So , I have changed the bed--Sunday morning, that is what I do_And it's not easy to do--because I feel the bed is larger than the room--One almost has to climb across it to tuck the sheets in--And we now have a cat who sleeps between Himself and I, every night. Last night, I reached over to pat her as she was sleeping, (I thought she was sleeping) and she whacked me with her paw------ I guess she is still a tad on the wild side!----- You know, I am talking about Sushi--(the cat I brought in from the cold)
So, we have snow---- SNOW EVERYWHERE---- on the car--around the car--in the driveway----lots and lots of it----AND, IT IS STILL COMING DOWN!--I think most of our highways are closed with trucks jackknifed across the highways----
So, I am still missing Elliot Lake--- I think the good Lord is dropping all this snow here to remind me of "Elliot" --and what I moved away from--I will be so happy when all these feelings of, "I want to move back"--disappear----Himself is as happy as a clam at high tide--I think, living here is like living in Heaven, to him--no stairs--a real walk-- in shower------One day, I hope to feel the same---and -I will--in time!---
So, I hope that your day is going well-- Sometimes, one just has to pretend it is---then it really will happen--It just takes time-- I hope!--Remember------ "" Strong Women""--WE are STRONGER than we know--
February is half over and warmer weather will eventually appear. So glad you don’t have a big driveway to shovel. You will always miss Elliot Lake, so many wonderful times spent there. However, you are in a new phase of life, and it is what you make it. I imagine you miss your family there. So start FaceTiming the sons and grandchildren if you haven’t already. Unfortunately, as we age, there are many things we grieve, but we must not let grief become our whole existence. Look for the joy, perhaps in the beauty of the falling snow, or that first bite of a cookie, or in just being alive and getting out of bed. You are an amazing woman! Enjoy your Sunday!
ReplyDeleteGood ideas AND I SHALL do your list thing--Thank yu Maureen--good reminders--- Everyone who lives here was out shovelling--was so fun!---- AND THE SNOW IS STILL coming DOWN--=--- Big storm!! The neighbour and I are going to buy bikes and bike along the trails here--Would be fun--= Lynda
DeleteGood morning Lynda. I have a suggestion. Take a sheet of paper, and on one side write Elliot Lake and the other side, Lakefield. On the Elliot Lake side list all the tasks you HAD to perform. The list will be long, I know. On the Lakefield side list the tasks you HAVE to perform. The list will probably be relatively short. Every time you long to return to Elliot Lake, look at that sheet of paper.
ReplyDeleteI hope you, Fred, Sushi and Lopez have an enjoyable Sunday.
Maureen from California
Good ideas--- Lots f snow fell here today--Lynda
DeleteAwwwww, Sushi is so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSame situation w/the snow. LOTS of it and officially . . . tired . . . of . . . snow!
Well that is a miracle of miracles that Himself really likes your new home! It will become more familiar to you. Hang in there.
Today is definitely one of those days where I slapped a smile on and pretending to be happy even though it’s not the best of days. It will pass.
HUGS and hang in there. Blessed Sunday!
Barb

Yes--I understand completely Barb how yu had to slap that smile on---Yu got thru this day-- Good for yu!--Lynda
DeleteIt's Kathy. So sorry about more snow. We have had so little this year and while I know it will hurt the farmers come spring I can't say that I'm sorry to not have the snow. I read the suggestion from Maureen above and that might be a good way to have something to look at when you are missing Elliot Lake. It's so good to hear how happy himself is - I remember him being rather grouchy before. Come spring it will be easier for him to get around too! Love seeing Sushi - it's cute that she sleeps between you two. Sometimes Daisy gets up into our bed and sleeps between us toward the bottom - but as soon as I move around she gets down. Sometimes I think that we are disturbing their sleep! Have a good Sunday. It's going to be below zero for us for the next 4-5 days - yuck!
ReplyDeleteSushi absolutely loves living here-- good to see her walking around at night--so much snow fell here today which they tell me is unusual for this area-Good to see yu--Lynda---
DeleteHi Lynda! It is snowing like crazy in Ohio and high winds! Yes, us crazy friends, we are the best! Ahh sweet Sushi! Just Himself loving it there makes it so much better for you. You will get there. Have a super Sunday! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteAllison said her weather there in Medina was snowy too--= I have shovelled round the car twice now-- Lynda
DeleteYes, I am 40 minutes from her. Twice shoveling, gosh!
DeleteMarti here. We started out with freezing rain, yesterday, then drizzle, rain overnight, and now, snow, about an inch or so. Blowing everywhere. It's a slushy kind of snow. We're inside, and I was enjoying watching the birds out my window. The neighbor's feeder is right there, beyond the bush next to my window. I took a few pictures, but it was hard for the camera to really focus. Very enjoyable - from INside, at least. :) I ordered a grocery pickup, we have to go get those between 4-5.
ReplyDeleteTry to make a list - of all the things that are good about where you are, and then the things you miss about Elliot Lake. I am sure you will find more good things about where you live now, than things you are missing. Most of those are probably about memories of times you once had, not times as they are now. Hugs.
Marti I will get Fred to put up a bird feeder--for next year--what a great idea!--Yes its the memories we miss when we move--Hugs to yu--=so happy to hear from yu--Lynda
DeleteHi Lynda, yucky cold and snow here. I'm so ready for Spring.
ReplyDeleteA bike and someone to ride with would be great.
I like making a list of the chores you had at the big house vs the chores now. If you're missing the sons..FaceTime or call...same with grandkids. I do love that Fred is content there. That makes your life more pleasant.
I wish you could find a group activity you enjoy such as aquatic aerobics or a book club.
How cute that Sushi sleeps with you guys. I'd have never predicted that. She's so pretty. Wow, she's come a long way.
Relax, play your piano, stay warm and well.
Love and big hugs
Marge in freezing St.Louis
Oh Marge--It has snowed here ALL day-Maybe a book club??--A lovely library here-Sushi would never move back-==-absolutely loves it here---cute eh??-- She wanders around here all nite-- Good to hear from yu--Lynda
DeleteHi Lynda: We're getting lots of snow again today too. But we're mid-February now so how much more can there be?? Can't even take the dog out today! You need to really start feeling a little better about the move by now. Matt and his wife seem to treat you guys pretty good - probably better that your other sons did??? But of course you still miss them and their families. Maybe they will come and visit when the weather gets nice? Are there no seniors groups to go to. Isn't himself going to some group? Play the piano for a while to feel better! Hugs Brenda
ReplyDeleteYes I did play the piano--It was a good day--I guess a key to do that is to be busy--lotza snow fell--And yes there are Senior Eventually I will join something--groups-- etc---Lynda
DeleteLynda, at least you don't hafta shovel that loooong drive, the trails, etc. I could shovel around my car, too...and the big pile of snow the plow puts behind the car when it does the main lane. I won't though. The temperature is so low! We under a cold advisory again for days...until next weekend. I am trying to not go anywhere. My car should be fine. It has 1/2 tank of gas with antifreeze in the gas line.
ReplyDeleteIt's almost my meditation time for me. I want to 'jump' on the exercise bike first for a few minutes.
Sushi didn't reach out with her claws, did she? Lucky doesn't have any in the front (and it wasn't me that had them removed! It's against the law here now.) He does that sometimes when he has had enough petting.
Isn't it a special weekend for families in Canada? Tomorrow is Presidents' Day for us. A National holiday. No banks open, no mail delivery.
All for now, sis. I'll be back later. {{{HUGS}}} Love, Maggie
It is Family Day to-morrow here-- aND--my brother said they will come up-- and visit us in June--That will be fun--Lynda
DeleteI don't know if they will ever ALL go away, but they will fade (the missing Elliot thoughts and feelings). Over time. You know you did the right thing!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're not shoveling it ALL, too!
I do feel I did the right thing--and I have met some vey nice -people Yes the memories will fade for sure-- people--are very friendly-- snowed here all day-- Lynda-How is Ember to-day??
