How was your weekend??-- Was it exciting--relaxing--happy--crazy busy?--I'd like to know---This next weekend, is a holiday weekend in Canada--- the 24th of May weekend-- As kids, we used to sing, "The 24th of May is the Queen's Birthday, and if we don't get a holiday, we'll all run away "---It was the first weekend Mom and Dad used to take us to the cottage, in Port Stanley. This was our cottage and to my older sister and I, it meant freedom--- We could take off after dinner, and go to the main beach, and meet all the boys! ---Our cottage was small--one bathroom-- but--we kids, absolutely loved it! We could ride our bikes too all over the village--like "Hooligans"--and "Skip the Drip"( as Dad used to call him,) would pretty soon come up the beach, skipping stones into Lake Erie hoping I would see him and head off to a few blissful hours with him, around , maybe a bonfire on the beach.
This AM., I took Himself for blood work at the hospital-- We got there at 7am and just returned home--3 hrs of waiting before the technician got around to himself. When I got back home, there was big Beau, sitting in front of Lopez' crate---Beau has become the dog sitter when we have to leave Lopez and it works out well.
I was thinking this morning that we are so fortunate to live where we do--all of us! I believe we should try so hard to just accept life as it happens--be happy as we can, and content with what we have--This day will never be repeated-- I am holding on tight--- closing my eyes--- and-- now I must believe that all will turn out right, in the end--It always does you know!
How nice that Beau is looking after his little brother. Your cottage was in a beautiful setting and I can imagine it was a lot of fun in your teen years especially. My family rented a cottage each summer at Sauble Beach and it was always a great time. Thanks for the memories.
ReplyDeleteSauble Beach is supposed to be very very nice----And yes, we loved our cottage--Lynda
DeleteI am picturing Beau and Lopez being friends, outside and inside the crate, touching noses. And I love your closing as it's what we all must do... believe it will come out right in the end. Or as some friends would quip, "I've read the end of the book and we win."

DeleteI am going to make today a good day. I have been out and deadheaded all the hyacinths, tulips and daffodils. Cross your fingers the mower may be fixed so DH has gone out to see if he can mow the lawn. Now I am going to make a fresh rhubarb pie. Yum Yum. Can you come later and we will have pie together?
ReplyDeleteSo Willow, was the mower fixed?--LOL--and yes, I SURE WOULD ENJOY HAVING RHUBARB PIE WITH YOU_Lynda
DeleteHow perfect that Beau is the sitter fir Lopez.
ReplyDeleteSure took a while for blood test but you got it done.
Enjoyed your memories of the cottage and the great times there.
"Hold on tight and BELIVE" love that.
Yes, we are blessed. We must learn to be content.
Have a great day!
Hugs
I guess "LIFE IS EWHAT WE MAKE IT"---Loved yer comments-Lynda
DeleteHow nice Beau looks after Lopez. That was a long wait for blood tests. Totally ridiculous. In Toronto I can make an appt at a place near me & get in & out in less that 1/2 hour. Enjoy the rest of the day.
ReplyDeleteGlad you have wonderful memories of being young and carefree, and you had great parents! That 3 hours is not good to wait for morning blood test, think of all the fasting people who can get sick, waiting. More and more, medical care is doled out so the companies that own the facilities make more money, NOT for the patient’s comfort. Sad!

Keep the faith Lynda...David had to go to E.R. for bloodwork Friday after his surgery Tuesday...yes he has a UTI.......he is better thanks to the antibiotics...however, 9 hrs. is a little too much.
ReplyDeleteGlad Beau is stepping up to help w/your little one.
HOLY MOLEY! 3 hrs. of waiting so Himself could get his blood drawn! Lord. That’s kinda ridiculous!
ReplyDeleteAwwww, Beau is a good boy looking after wee Lopez.

Yes, we are very lucky to be living where we are. Even as the world around us is going crazy with all of its problems we are content to just be.
