Lotza this and that ---

Laughing is so good for us!

We have "the power"--- but--we live in the North-- I hear that Southern Ontario still have not had their power restored, after a tornado  ripped thru there--- and it might take up to 3 days for them to get their power back-- It really looks like a mess  there with trees down and wires everywhere.

We do have rain falling tho--and because it is a Holiday weekend (the 24th of May)- and it is Sunday, our stores are closed.

This morning I filled the Hummingbird feeders --all 3 of them.  I notice that every feeder has one very bossy Hummingbird who  only allows who he likes , to use a feeder--I see Hummingbird wars if some one dares to go to the wrong feeder. Have you noticed that too?

Hopefully, to-morrow , I will be able to fill some pots with flowers and get them out by the road. I need a bag of peat moss before I begin.--- And finally, I see that the grass is green and will need cutting soon.

Springtime is such a busy time!  ---I changed our bed sheets to-day and once again, put them in the dryer-- It is time I guess to get them out into the sunshine and fresh air. I think I am the only person along our road who has a clothes line.  Do you use a clothes line?-- Some communities don't allow  clothes lines--  kinda crazy ! I remember hanging out lines and lines of cloth diapers when the kids were babies--Now that was a lot of work!

Life has changed so much hadn't it?----I still love to see sheets, and laundry,  blowing in the wind--
I hope that you make  Sunday  the best day ever! --- It is all in our attitude isn't it?--have a great day-- remember your roots---  and family members who are not with us anymore--

Remember these desks?--

  1. Not only do I have a clothes line - it's one of the original Hill's Hoist ones that has a solid metal centre and a big crank to raise and lower it.  But it's now stuck so it's about an inch higher than my comfort level reaching up.  I'll put towels and sheets out there but anything smaller goes on my line(s) on the patio under cover.  They still get the breeze, but not the hot sun, unfortunately but I can hang stuff out at night time or if it's raining.  We elected a new PM today!  One that I voted for!  Hopefully this will all go well for lots of things that need tending to over here.  Love you!

  2. No clothes line here, but my niece reminded me this week that we used to have one in upstate NY, when we lived there. Seems she decided to use it as a merry-go-round on a visit to our house. Yikes! I had forgotten but when she and my son (her cousin) got together, they remembered all the mischief they got into as kids!

    Have a wonderful Sunday!

  3. OH my! Glad you have power! Sorry for those folks still waiting for restoration after tornadoes.

Yup . . . all kinds of signs of Spring. That’s a good thing.

Our area doesn’t allow you to hang laundry out. Ashame. It smells soooooo fresh!

I HAVE one of those desks in my basement. Dad refinished one for me and my 2 brothers. LOL! I still fit in it – haven’t grown since about 4th grade. LOL Looking @ it reminds me of Dad and all the other furniture he refinished – a setee, a PIANO (yup! Took the keys out even. Wondered how he’d get them back in. Found out they were numbered!). And I still play that piano! Memories.

  4. Hello, have a great holiday! Our holiday is next weekend. My bf will come to visit, I haven't seen him in 6 weeks, since Easter. I'm looking forward to it.

I think my grandmother had a clothes line way back in the day, if I remember correctly. My mom never did. It's funny, but I don't think of it as fresh at all, I think of it as dirty, as it seems all kinds of dirt would be blowing around and get on them, and pollens, and maybe bird poop, too! Funny, the generations, how they've changed. I'm 63, FYI. Anyway, I live in a condo with no back patio, no place to do that, LOL.

    1. Yes, I have a clothesline in Virginia. There was a delightful little book when my kids were little about a woman who traveled the US and interviewed women about their laundry hanging out on a line. My favorite was one reason for hanging sheets out was something like " there's Vitamin C in the sun snd that vitamin C gets in them sheets and when I go to bed that vitamin C gets into me." Not a verbatim quote but close. Wish I could remember the author or book title. And yes to the same desk in a Catholic school in Pittsburgh PA. We all had to buy orange PEE CHEE COVERS from the nuns' supply closet to hold our worksheets inside the desk. This was in the 50's.

  5. I had a clothes line and hung my wash out every week in the nice weather. I love the smell of the wash when you hang it out. My mom always had a line and hung her wash out. Even when she was in her 90's she would haul it up the basement steps to hang it out. Great memory.

  6. Neither clothes line nor humming birds here at the FL beach…I love hummingbirds but I’ve only seen two in the past 15 years. It is simply too hot for them. I do remember, as a child in MO, my Mom hanging out the laundry on multiple lines supported by long poles. The poles were to keep the lines elevated so the wash wouldn’t drag in the grass. A dryer is so much easier LOL! ❤️ Eissa7

  7. No clothesline here...the poles are there, but the person we bought this house from took it down.
I used to hang everything out..I only dry towels and sheets...the rest hang and air dry.

  8. Had a wonderful long clothesline when we lived in California, but I noticed that fresh smell left pretty quickly. Stuff cloth wore out faster from being in the sun. It was good to hang rugs on, and beat the dust out of them. But we moved to Texas, neighborhood has small, uneven back yards, so no clothesline’s. The super hot sun would damage your stuff hanging, humidity smells, pollen is fierce, asthmatics do not want pollen covered stuff near their face. It suddenly turned cool here, making hot beef stew for dinner. Weather is nuts!

  9. Had a clothes line when I moved up to Parry Sound but here in Toronto I have never seen one (except when I was a kid here) then everyone had them. Nowadays the clothes would probably be dirty by the time they were brought in! We have power but a lot of trees were severely damaged by the strong winds and there are a lot of power outages but I'm ok. I remember the old school desks. Have a good holiday.

  10. Glad your power is on.
We had clotheslines when I was growing up. The line props were actually cut, small trees with notches to grasp the clothesline. No clotheslines allowed in my villa community.
Sounds like you have new. Different chores now that Spring has arrived. Be safe
    Hugs
