I have been changing clocks-- As most of you know, I collect chiming clocks--cuckoo clocks--and anything that resembles a clock---- I have done quite a few of them but this morning, I have a bit of a problem-- I have had 2 bouts of Vertigo-- Never in my life have I ever had that--and it feels scary when it happens--Both times I was lying down, and reached over to my left side and down to the floor--One time to check on Lopez who sleeps beside me in his crate-- I was covering him up, and all of a sudden, the room began to spin around-- then last evening, same sort of thing-I was lying down and bent over and down--to my left, to pick up Sushi--and it seemed like the whole world was turning round and round, with severe nausea--This morning I told Himself , who keeps telling me to hold my head still in one position--I look like I have a stiff neck-----so, some of the clocks will be changed to-morrow--
Have any of you ever had Vertigo?---Himself says it shouldn't last long--- I hope not-- I live in fear that it will return at any time---If you ever have had it, how long did it last and did you take anything for it?
Son#2 I know is en route , returning to Toronto from Tokyo, Japan--He was telling me last night how clean the city there is--and how polite the people are-----and of course, he absolutely loves the food.
I had vertigo many years ago and it lasted about a week. I spent most of the time in bed in a dark room. The first day or two I would throw up if I stood up so I would crawl to the bathroom. At that time the doctor said all I could take to help was Gravol. Things could have changed by now and maybe there is something else that would help. Also some people don't get it quite as bad as others do. I hope you are just having some dizzy spells and not Vertigo. Take care and rest.
ReplyDeleteWhen it happened, the whole room began to spin-- was awful-- No more today however--I hope never!-- It makes yu feel sick too-Lynda
DeleteYes Lynda, I had vertigo when I was with my first husband and mine was due to stress. My daughter has vertigo often and hers will last a day, week, ? She takes a prescription drug as soon as hers starts, she says it helps. Right now, you not only have Fred to tend to but all the dogs, think that might be doing it? Stress?
ReplyDeleteTake good care of yourself, my friend.
Hugs and love to you, Fred and all the furry babies xoxo
Yes, Gloria, it very well could be due to stress- a lot going on here right now--No more episodes to-day, but I stayed home all day and took it easy-- Lynda
DeleteI've not had vertigo, but my older sister has had positional vertigo. Her doctor / physical therapist gave her some exercises to clear it. They involve moving her head position, and being gentle about how rapidly she gets up from a lying down position.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a good Sunday!
Thanks Barb--Yes Im careful how I hold may head to-day--plus I stayed pretty close to home-Lynda
DeleteI've had it, it's been awhile. I get dizzy spells a lot though, usually if I lean over and then stand up, due to meds I take, lasts a few seconds. The vertigo spells, I don't remember much about. I think they would last maybe a day or two? I just stayed in bed until they passed, as I couldn't walk around without being gripped by dizziness and nausea (and I am phobic about nausea and vomiting). If you've never had them before, I would check with your doctor, or at least tell your doctor, as it's probably some medical reason due to your age.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly scared me--those 2 episodes --- So far, no more today but Im careful how I hold my head-- Lynda
DeleteOh Lynda! I hope that you don’t have any more vertigo. Have never had a bout of it except when ill w/fever. Otherwise no. Feel better!
ReplyDeleteThose cherry blossoms in Tokyo are beautiful! Safe travels to DS.
Lots of snow here. Definitely not spring weather. But at least w/daylight savings time upon us, it’s a sign that spring WILL be here.

DeleteIt has been snowing at my house for days - just light snow but still going strong. I'm so tired of winter. I don't think I've had Vertigo but recently I've been feeling dizzy once I get up from lying down. I do a lot of Pilates and we have to sit up every so often - boy does the room spin. Not sure what that's about, I hope it's just stress related. Hope you're better soon. Kathy
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy-- Well, the room sure spins with that Vertigo-- I am very careful how I hold my head to-day and no more vertigo so far to-day-The winter seems so long doesn't it?-- Lynda-
DeleteHoping your vertigo never returns. Rise slowly when lying down. I've never had it but my son has had 2 debilitating episodes. He went to urgi care and was given drugs. Took several days for it to clear up. Move slowly from one position to another. Hope it stays gone.
ReplyDeleteBe careful.
I wonder what the drugs were??__ I shall keep yu posted--I really move my head slowly now-- No more episodes to-day--Lynda
DeleteI've never had vertigo so can't offer any opinion or suggestions. Maybe there is some type of reaction to all the stress you have in your life?? Here's hoping there's no more snow and that will get rid of some stress. Take it easy and hopefully you'll feel better tomorrow. Relax and maybe play the piano tonight.
ReplyDeleteI have never experienced this before--but--I may have found a remedy-I hope--Lynda
DeleteLynda, I have not had what is called vertigo, but I have been dizzy, light-headed, faint. Here is like for you to copy and paste from a trusted site:https://www.webmd.com/brain/vertigo-symptoms-causes-treatment
ReplyDeleteI am sure Himeself is telling you correctly, too. If he doesn't seem concerned, maybe you shouldn't be either. Then again...
I'd love to visit Tokoyo. I have been watching tv shows about cats that partially take place there. Japan has the most cats of any country in the world. Cities have community cats that everyone cares for. They are not feral...very friendly to all the residents.
Keep us up to date on the vertigo, your kids, pets and Himself, and the new house. I know you will
We love you and care about you! {{{HUGS}}}
awwww Yu really are so good--Thank yu for caring--Lynda
DeleteI Get that sometimes, it’s from two discs in my neck, and sometimes I lie in an odd direction in bed, that can set it on. A doctor should be able to prescribe for you.
ReplyDeleteI shall look online too--Thank yu-Lynda
DeleteYes - I have had vertigo.....mine was when I was still working and my job was very stressful as head of the school district.....my blood pressure went way up when I had it. My doctor told me to take the same medicine that you take to prevent nausea when you are flying - Dramamine! And it worked! Hope you don't have another episode, but if you do, visit your primary doctor for some help!
DeleteMy mom has had vertigo a couple of times. It usually happens when she gets up too fast. It can last a a little bit, but goes away. She just takes her time getting up.
ReplyDeleteI have a friend who gets it so bad she has to go to bed for days or weeks. I pray that is something I don't get, altho I do get dizzy if I bend over because the blood rushes to my head.
ReplyDeleteScares me but my BP running high has scared me more.
Glad #2 is coming home...
I have had periods of positional vertigo numerous times. The crystal’s in my ear get out of whack. Look on line for some movements you can go through to get the crystal’s back in place, if it becomes a problem. Also, the hearing specialist in my town has been helpful and has me do certain movements that usually do the trick. I once had it off and one for 2 months. No fun. Fortunately mine is not constant, usually just several times a day when I am having an episode.
