Good morning--it is SUNDAY--no snow falling yet--hopefully --Never on a Sunday"--Beau and little Lopez have yet too get outside-- hopefully one of them can "hoof" it up the road with me----
I was awakened early this morning with a text from Son #2 the Air Canada Pilot, who has been sitting somewhere out west, waiting to be sure a runway was open for him to get into Toronto, where they had a huge snowstorm--He is on his way now--will be very happy to get home-- was stuck out there for a couple of days---- He was waiting to de-ice-- I guess it was snowing -
We had so much melting going on yesterday---- I loved it! --- There is hope that winter may soon be over! Usually once the big meltdown begins, winter usually vanishes quite quickly.
I read all the comments on yesterday's blogs and was reminded of all the outside games we used to play as kids. I had forgotten about "Kick the Can""-- "making snow angels"--- " playing hide and go seek"--and "tag"--I do remember because there were 5 children in our family, Mom calling us in after supper -after we had played "Kick the can"--(We used to try to stay out in the dark if we could) Mom used a bell--- a large bell, and when she rang that, we had to get home and inside, as fast as our legs could carry us (Dad's expression)---
I raised my children with the same cow bell---- The neighbours used to shout , "Coming Mom" when they heard that cow bell----- As each child left home, they wanted that bell---
It seems like a good day to have a great day-- forget the stuff that happened yesterday-- It is a brand new day and we are a part of it!-- -KIND and POLITE----- Patient and thoughtful --and understanding---- It takes STRENGTH---- but-- We ARE strong--- --
Always a good day to have a good day, isn't it? I can see why you'd need a cowbell, when you live in the sticks! Living "in town" our signal to come home NOW! was when the streetlights came on. If we were around the block or out of sight... it was definitely time to get home!
ReplyDeleteIt seems everyone ran home when the streetlights came on---How is the Birthday Dog?--- Did he get lotza treats?--Lynda-
DeleteMy mom did not have a cowbell, but we were allowed to run and play until the street light on our corner came on! Then our time was up we ran home and dinner was waiting for us! Such sweet memories. Glad you are having some decent weather! It has been mild here. Yesterday my #2 son came and put a new roof on my "catico" ( an outdoor building like an caged patio with places for my cats to roost) as they are indoor cats, but like a little fresh air and sunshine. Wish I could send you a picture! Hope you continue to have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI remember yer Catico--Yu sent a picture of it to me a long time ago--The cats are so lucky to have that! --Hugs Sandra--I hope yu are doling well! ---You are a brave woman---a survivor --- Love to yu, Lynda
DeleteGlad son #2 is all right. Safe travels to him back to Toronto.
ReplyDeleteGlad the snow is melting. Sure sign of spring.
LOL! Love being summoned by the cow bell! Mom just called to us. But we came promptly!
Great memories.

Memories are so precious aren't they?---- Yes--a cow bell-- but one Lady said her Dad blew his Trumpet and they ran home-- impressive! ---Hugs Barb! Lynda
DeleteSuch nice memories of our childhood days. I can imagine the cow bell! My dad blew a trumpet for my brothers and I to come home. And we had better “step on it”, not keep hanging around. Had not thought of that in a long time. Hope your son gets to Totonto safely!
ReplyDeleteYer Dad blew trumpet??--- Wow!--Impressive! --- Good memories aren't they?--LOL--Lynda
DeleteMy dad would whistle it was a loud one and we knew it was time to come home. We'd eat dinner and run back outside and play until we heard it again. At night we'd play "Freeze" when a car would pass we would all freeze in place.
ReplyDeleteWe're having a sunny and beautiful day, but once you step outside you feel the cold. That Mother Nature is sure tricking us over here.
Enjoy your Sunday!
Paula--I don't remember the game "FREEZE"--- Margene mentioned it too!----- Everything is melting here to-day--plus 6C-- Hugs , Lynda
DeleteNo snow and some melting at your house WAHOO!
ReplyDeleteHope pilot son makes it back to Toronto soon.
Liked your inserts.
I forgot...we also played tag, softball, kick the can, rode bikes all over town and Freeze whenever a car passed..the same as someone else mentioned. When the street lights came on it was time to head in. I like the cow bell idea. It sounds like you still have that cow bell.
Enjoy your day. Play your piano.
Hugs
The kids all wanted that cow bell----LOLOL--and the neighbours all remember our cow bell--LOL--plus Son#2 the Air Canada pilot made it back ton Toronto in 3 hrs in his Dreamliner--That p[lane must be so nice--He loves it!--Hugs to yu-Lynda
DeleteI remember snow angels...and sledding down a long hilly road with no traffic.
ReplyDeleteMy kids all had to come in when they saw the street lights come on. Same with the neighborhood kids.
Had a great time last night at karaoke. It had been a while.
Socialization is important...more so as we grow older. That's one reason I follow your blog: I love hearing about you and your family, and it is a form of socialization!
