Never be a Miserable cow!

It feels so good not to feel tired-----  Our Grandson cut all the grass yesterday--plus did a couple odd jobs for me---  What a good kid! --and we even have some rain falling this morning, off and on--AND--it is cooler--nice! --Last night I froze so much rhubarb---I just could not wash and chop it all up--  There was so so much!--I'll try to make a rhubarb dish with some later on--  Too bad that Lady--(I call her the Rhubarb Lady ) didn't take a lot of what she pulled to the grocery store. ----They would've sold it.
I feel like , more and more, I resemble, in the mornings,  the Lady in the above picture--not much class-

son #1 and son#2 --are both in Toronto--  eating at a fancy Chinese Restaurant---  and of course sent pictures--It all looked so good!---

A new week is beginning--Oh--and to-day is my brother's 85th Birthday-- I have already called him (just in case he forgot)-- He said they are celebrating his Birthday in his LTCARE place, with a big cake----He sounded pretty happy!

I had to hug Sushi this morning--the cat who came in from the minus 30 degree weather-- and then spent 3 mos under our bed--I had to feed her with a long back scratcher---She does look like the cat in bottom picture--

So, I feel  kinda like her--living in a house which is way too large for us---- and searching for a smaller home ---  The kids all keep sending pictures of new listings---and we are not finding a suitable one--There are days I'd like to hide under the bed  like Sushi----but-----  then I remember, everything usually turns out--
---------------------------------Enjoy to-day--We only have this day--to-day!

  1. That is AWESOME that your grandson cut all the grass. Hurray.

Oh my . . . wish I lived closer . . . love rhubarb. But can’t get it to grow here.

OH my . . . yes, the mirror reflection is always a surprise, isn’t it!

    That food looks delicious! Wow.

How lovely that your brother’s birthday will be celebrated @ the LTCF today w/a cake! Nice.

(((HUGS))) finding a new house ranks #1 to me of the top stressors in life.

Here’s to a motivated Monday and being a HAPPY Cow.

  2. Good morning!
Rhubarb…. We have tons and I never know what to do with it. I guess I will try to cut it and boil it. I love strawberry and rhubarb pie. I usually buy it at the market. Maybe I will try myself to make one.
Moving - ugh. I know our time will come and just thinking about it is overwhelming. I wish you tons of luck. I know that it is part of our aging and that we must all move in that direction, but it doesn’t make it any easier.
And your grandson, how wonderful. I have one out of two that will help me with anything. It is awesome.
Have a wonderful day today. We have had rain and thunderstorms every night. My dog is not very thrilled about it. I take him in the bedroom and read while playing Toby Keith on my Alexa. It calms him down. Wouldn’t Toby love to hear that story!

    1. Cut off the leaf-- cut stocks into 6 inch stalks-- put in sink to wash-- then chop rhubarb pieces into i inch Pieces--and freeze it little baggies-- then yu will have it all winter to use-- I buy minute tapioka to thicken my rhubarb when cooking it--when yu cook it, add the tapioka--after it is sloppy and cooked (takes quite awhile-)--add sugar---about 3 cups or to taste--Nice to hear from yu--Lynda

  3. So wonderful to have help with the yard work! I love it when my grandson has time to help me! He goes so fast on the mower, whereas I am much slower, and he finishes in about 2 hours whereas it takes me 3 1/2 hours! But sometimes he is unavailable because of soccer games and practices so I have to get it done myself. My mom used to grow rhubarb in her garden and would make strawberry rhubarb pie....so tasty! I need to send your brother a belated birthday card! Sent him one last week....but was unsure of how much postage it would take. This time I will go to the post office and make sure the stamps are enough! And I love your Sushi story.....my two rescue kittens (now big cats) look alot like Sushi! They are good company for me!

    1. Isn't that funny?--- Our Grandson does the same--goes so fast-and sometimes I have to do it also and it takes me twice as long --Yes--Sushi is a great girl--She was quite wild when I finally trapped her--but very loving now-- Can yu believe just dumped her, as a kitten at the boat launch near here?--She was so hungry-- Lynda

  4. Thank you for the smiles to brighten my day. Nope, I don't want to be a miserable cow.
So happy grandson did ALL the yard. Yay
Sushi is such a good baby...now. took a lot of effort from you to get her socialized and I'm so glad you saved her.
At least your boys are sending you listings which, to me, means they are interested in what's best for you two.
My mom made rhubarb custard pie. Rhubarb fresh from her garden. It was amazing.
    Enjoy today.
Play your piano since you don't have to work outside.
    Hugs

  5. It's Kathy - yes, I also feel like hiding under the bed sometimes. Or better yet, just going to bed and pulling the covers over my head! Love those food photos - it looks delicious! We had a lovely day yesterday - so cool that I could open windows. Then I had to close them because it got too cold in the house! Nice today too but still no rain at all! I'm so glad your grandson came and helped! Have a great day!

  6. I love rhubarb . . . unfortunately we left a large patch behind at the old house and my new patch here is taking a while to get going. I like rhubarb sauce . . . kind like applesauce but I don't put nearly as much sugar as you do and no tapioca. I like it a little tart.
We are having one more warm day today then it is supposed to start raining again for the rest of the week. My gardens are happy so I should not complain.
I really can't imagine you staying where you are for another winter . . . last winter was so hard for you if you remember. There must be somewhere up there that is suitable. I am glad we moved when we did in 2018. DH was 72 then and able to do things to help. He is glad to be out of our too big for us 1854 Farmhouse into this one story ranch.

  7. Food pictures look good. Good thing son #2 was not flying somewhere while son #1 is in town. Nice that the kids are thinking of you and keep sending listings. No news on anyone interested in your place? Nice of your grandson to help so much. Hope he continues all summer! Sounds like you have a lot of rhubarb to cook over the summer. Enjoy.

  8. Lynda, I love Asian food of all kinds! And, come to think of it, Mexican and Indian (I think). I grew up in Michigan farm country. Wholesome food, but not lots of seasoning...meatloaf, stewed chicken, pot roast, etc. all with veggies. Mom put out raw veggies for us when, smelling what was cooking, we couldn't wait to eat. It wasn't 'til I got married that tried raw broccoli and cauliflower. Now I am rarely adverse to trying new foods. Haven't had any cooked bugs yet, though. Doubt I'll ever go there.
You grandson is a blessing! He obviously loves you very much.
My blood sugar shows pre-diabetes again. I googled how to lower it naturally. It said to drink more water and exercise. Guess there goes the afternoon nap I have been taking. I really believe I am getting over long covid.
    On to my elliptical exercise bike! {{{HUGS}}}
