Make it a great day!

-I think it is Thursday--and that means, it is HAIR DAY--Right now, I look exactly like the Lady below-

We have smoke--and just a terrible woody smell. outside----No fires burning here --yet----  but--so many homes in so many places, have been in the fires--in Nova Scotia--out west----and because we are surrounded by trees and live  amongst the bush, it could happen here-----It is  scare-y! -

We did get out for groceries yesterday  and when we returned home, there was a truck sitting at the end of our driveway staring at the "For Sale " sign--  They were looking for "Waterfront " property--So, in spite of the  interest rate hike, there are people out there  searching--

Yesterday I cut the grass in the front and the septic bed--tried to patch where Beau had done his business----then, BLESS HIS HEART, I got a text from the Grandson, saying, "Gramma, I can cut the grass on Sunday"--Woo Woo---=-  so happy--Help is on the way--because by Sunday, the grass I just cut will be long again--

and now our daughter just called-- thinks she has Shingles--Poor girl!--I had that one year, when I was running for council here in town--had it on my face, going up into my hair--very painful--it is related to the chicken pox virus-

Anyway, I  must get moving here--get these dogs out again--and  vacuum this house--

Being strong is the only way to be--we all know that ----We do not have an  option-
Today , take the time to just think about all that is good in your life----thinking about all that is good, takes away all the  craziness that is going on---
and we all  are friends---

  1. The smoke has reached Michigan and New York, all the way from the Canada fires. My daughter lives in Oregon and it's been like that her way for the last several years in summer. And both her and husband have had to quit they're hiking plans (in the middle of their hikes from the border of Mexico all the way up to the Canadian border) several times the last few summers because of bush fires and both at different times have had to outrun smoke and fire. So she knows what she's talking about. But my son and grandkids are in Michigan so I worry. A dear friend (my ex husband's wife) has asthma and did a short video (wearing a mask) showing the smoke and haze. Her asthma is quite bad on good days so I worry about her too. For me, it's been stormy and very rainy here. I've enjoyed the thunderstorms. Great sound effects too! The DEEP rumbly kind of thunder. I've had two days of nose down, tail up desk work and tomorrow I plan to do house things so as to get some movement in. I finished two projects, so I'm very pleased to have them finished and that's a few minutes more I can spend on other more interesting things! My glucose is great! I got some honey with honeycomb in the mail today (I ordered it). It's delicious and I'm going to be very selective about how much I have so it lasts a long time. Yum! Australian honey is really different from what I had in Michigan mostly because of the gum trees here. Anyway, must get dishes done and hop to bed! Big hugs to you!

    1. It was VERY smokey here this morning-- smelled terrible!--So your son is in Michigan?--- close to us--My Mom loved thunder storms--Our cottage was in Port Stanley, along Lake Erie and some "Bobby Douser" storms used to roll up that lake--She would sit in a rocker and watch them out the front window of the cottage-- We had another showing of the house this evening, so I'm up later than usual--Lynda

  2. I hope it is cool enough there that you can take Lopez with you so he won't have to be near "the cane". Oh so happy to hear that there are still lookers out there. We bought our 1st house with really high interest rates and then refinanced as soon as they came down. Funny . . .we have no smoke here in NH . . .it is swirling all around us but we have been stuck in downtown raincloud for a week.

  3. It's Kathy. I can only imagine how scary it is to live in an area that is close to those horrible fires. They tell us we have residual smoke from the fires but I can't see it. I do worry, however, when the neighbor starts a fire in his back yard and then just walks away - especially right now when it's so dry everywhere. I saw photos of New York City - the whole sky is orange. Must be hard to breathe! I'm so glad your grandson is coming out to mow for you. My sons mowed my mother's yard after my dad passed away and she so appreciated it!

Sorry to hear your daughter has shingles. Hoping she'll be able to come visit
The fire situation sounds very scary. We have residual smoke in the atmosphere over St.Louis from the Canadian fires.
Enjoy hair day. Be safe. Hoping this will post and be there later as last several days its vanished.

  5. Lynda, good news: your dear grandson is coming to cut grass, people are considering your property and you get an outing!
Bad news: your daughter has shingles?! Hope it's gone by July 1!
I am pretty much exhausted after going to Minneapolis Veterans Hospital for my appointments today. I had five! 4 floors to the hospital, long corridors, some parts where I have never been I had to visit today. I did it, though. Like your poster says, you never know how strong you are until you have no other choice.
Tomorrow my check posts, so it will be paying bills and buying stuff.
It will probably be an early night tonight.
    Prayers for you daughter...and all of you. {{{HUGS}}}

  7. Hope that your daughter doesn't have shingles! I have had it 3 times - even though I have had the shingles shot! Also got the newest one as it is so painful...mine shows up aroung my bra line on my chest! I hope that this doesn't deter her trip to come and see you! Sent a card to your brother today - sure hope I put enough postage on it! I guess I should have taken it to the post office to make sure, but I just added a couple of extra stamps - hahaha!

  8. OH no! So sorry to hear your DD has shingles. So painful.

Glad that your grandson will be there to cut the lawn for you on Sunday. PHEW.

Sorry it is so smokey. We had smokey haze for several days, and finally today is clear. So sad for all those so devastated by these horrible fires. Prayers for those fighting the fires, too.
