Strange weather!! It is hard to believe that it is hotter so far north than it is in Southern Illinois which is known for heat. Good luck looking at the house - I should move to something smaller but (butt) don't have the energy to get this house ready to sell. My word of advice - do it while you can.
ReplyDeleteWell I am 80 yrs old- and I just looked at the worst house ever--I came back home and decided that our home is worth way more than the Real estate say-I think I will get a job as an 80 yr old "Lady of the night"----and stay in our home which, if I might say, is beautiful-- I think I am serious too--I have looked at so mAny terrible places--Lynda
DeleteWell, I am 86 so hang in there. You can handle it if I can! If you could get someone to handle the outside work it might be easier to pay them than to settle on something you aren't happy with and have to have the cost of moving. No right solution I think.
DeleteYu are 86?=--Oh I need to hear more-- I need encouagement here-- So, if yu can handle your house, yu are saying I could too?---and so should just sty here in our present home?-THe house today that we saw was terrible-Lynda
DeleteIt's Kathy - I LOVE the little goat. We had goats for awhile and I loved making cheese with the goat milk. I'd have one now if I could. Their names were Heidi and Louise and I'd go for walks with them in the fields - we lived on an old farm with lots of fields. I know what you mean about things seeming quiet and then just kind of blowing up. We went grocery shopping today - just to pick up a few things. $150 later with so many bags and another 30 minutes to put things away! I hope you like the rental that you see today and that your home sells soon!
ReplyDeleteKathy we had goats also-- Isn't that weird?-- himself brought 2 baby goats ton our cottage one summer--They grew quite big--lived in the shed--followed Timmy around and ate all my flowers-- -No--the house we saw today is not good for us-- Maybe I should just stay here--Lynda
DeleteHope your day gets back to good and himself is behaving. May the house meet your requirements. Have a good day & evening. It's so hot hopefully the black flies are finished. Hugs
ReplyDeleteAwww Brenda--- whatta day--- I am about ready to just give up-- Lynda
DeleteAre you sure it’s a terrible place, or a terrible Realtor? She doesn’t seem to help you at all, with the money issue, or listening to your wants and needs!! Surely there are better Realtors there, hope she is not a “friend” that needs a job…
ReplyDeleteI agree about the realtor. Almost seems like there is some ulterior motive behind her actions or are there just not that many houses in your area?
DeleteYU see, this was a mining town--and the houses were built for the miners--so, it is very difficult to get what we want--- Lynda
DeleteI just dunno--- It really was a wasted morning--Lynda
DeleteSorry about your day, Lynda. I hope it has settled down by now. Sending you hugs and ice cream from Ohio!:)
ReplyDeleteOh--ice cream sounds wonderful! --The house we drove by was awful---- I'm about ready to just give up--LOL-Lynda
DeleteSo sorry, Lynda!
DeleteLynda, I hope the house works out! Soon. And that you will be happily settled in no time!
ReplyDeleteYes, we have to choose what we need to choose to be happy!
{{{HUGS}}}
Lordy Be--The house was terrible--- Maybe we will just stay here--forever-It turned out to be a very busy day---and I never got back on here till now--LYnda
DeleteDo you have sites on the internet for rentals in your area? You may be able to see some photos to see if the house is at all suitable. {{{HUGS}}}
DeleteWe looked at a rental yesterday--but--- not a very nice place-- just may have to stay here--Lynda
DeleteOh Margene--- It was a terrible day--We rushed out to see the house and it was awful-I think I will just stop looking--Maybe we should stay here--with help-- -Lynda
ReplyDeleteI just give up--- It was an awful house in an awful area--- and it took us all morning-- Lynda
ReplyDeleteLynda-I have been reading your blog for years...Really enjoy it..I have an 86 yr old husband and a fair amount of property so your situation hits close to home....I do hope you decide to stay where you are (for himself's) sake, but you do need help to do it....
ReplyDeleteReally???? YU have been reading the daily blog??--Thank yu--- And--Thank yu for yer advice---- The real Estate Lady called this morning--wants us to lower the price--I said "NO"----We just have not found what we need go live in-- and I do worry about HImself never adapting-- to a new place-- I cherish yer advice--because , this morning, I am waking up to the fact that we may be here for longer than I thought-- but-- yu think that is better anyway ?--- Please keep handing out advice because i need gto hear it right now-Lynda
DeleteSuch a dilemma! Should I stay or should I go? I dislike all the work I have here at this home....but it is a beautiful place and I really don't want to leave it.....I am sure like you, that nothing I would find in town would compare. So I will keep doing what I am doing until I no longer able....I am only 76 so I might have a few more good years to cope with all this house and yard work....and if I can't afford someone to do it for me some day - then I will know it is time for me to leave.
ReplyDeleteSandra --Its looking like we just might have to stay here--- so--I really appreciate hearing from yu--Lynda
DeleteSorry that the rental house didn’t work @ all! I sure hope that a solution is found. Seems like maybe for now it would be good to stay put w/help. Hope that’s possible.

Lynda, I am inclined to think you should no9t let anyone influence you and you need to do what is best for Himself and you. I am 77 and having lost David in February, selling our home was terrible, and am still waiting on it to close. House is in Alabama - I'm in Illinois. If my daughter and soninlaw had not come to help, I'd still be trying to find someone to help move/store/pack and you will not have room in a much smaller home for much of your clock collection and other items.
ReplyDeleteI am telling you this from experience. I have a bed, chair, desk and computer here, and I am not complaining, but wonder where all my thing are I enjoyed??? packed out in the storage building.
