It is Sunday--Yu gotta love Sunday-- a "sorta" day of rest---which only "sorta" happens on a Sunday- It is the day to change the sheets---hopefully--maybe--get a rest in--with a good book---- hopefully, maybe cut some grass----maybe buy a few groceries---(a small order)----
Some voice in my head is shouting---"AND GO TO CHURCH"----which we do not seem to do anymore--As a kid, we went to church--I remember sitting on the hard , very cold, wooden bench, with a short dress on, and really enjoying belting out the hymns---then we all had to congregate at the front of the church and listen to the minister talk to all of us children. We were then taken out for Sunday School, and I don't remember listening to anything except we were divided and sent to small rooms to talk about whatever, which I never really listened to---Do children go to Sunday school anymore?
When we moved to Elliot Lake, one of our children , a baby, was crying, in the church service, and I was asked by the Priest , to take that baby to some room in the back of that church as my baby was disturbing the congregation-I was not impressed! ---- if yu look below, yu can see exactly how I felt at the time!
I suppose we can do as this young Lady talks about above-- learn some--draw--paint--sing and dance and work some--- and because it is Sunday, we just might fit it all in to-day--
and be kind to your neighbours--and--don't let the "crazies" get yu down-- --Lord love a Duck!--SO so much to think about isn't there-- ?--
Church attendance has dropped since Covid but it is slowly climbing again here. Yes children still go to Sunday School and so do many adults. It is prior to the church service where I live (Illinois).
ReplyDeleteNice and cool here today but I haven't gone thru the clothes yet to switch things around. Saw where some grocery exec said that prices have gone up but don't expect them to drop back down. I don't really think any of us even imagined that happening. Can't win for losing some days. D
Well, It is good to hear that children still go to Sunday school-- I did not know that---Well --I got rid opf a lot of clothing so this year it was quite easy to do the old "switch-r-oo-- "----- I heard on CBC radio that our Gov't is going to look into all the grocery chains and see why food has gone up so much-- Probably- nothing will be done tho-Lynda
DeleteSmiled at "sheckles" as thats a word my parents used and haven't heard it in eons. Prices on everything are ridiculous and likely here to stay. Buying clothes isn't going to happen so I need to get more serious about shedding a few pounds so what I have will fit better.
ReplyDeleteYou've got a lot of chores on your plate today. Can groceries wait until Lodge trip tomorrow?
Its unheard of for any church leader to suggest a mother remove a child from services. Churches have areas where you can take your child and most people do remove crying children. Children do have Sunday School as do adults. Across the board, church attendance is down as the older people are dying off. Many younger families don't see a need to give their kids a religious foundation.
Proud of you for thinning the shoe herd. Its amazing how much stuff we hang on to that we're not likely to wear or use. Sounds like you have a lot of thinning out to do when winter arrives. Keep up the good job.
Too soon to switch out clothes. I'm still wearing shorts.
Hope today goes well. Stay positive. Leave time for a book, your piano and a nap.
Hugs
Yu have heard of "Sheckles" too?--- Funny eh?--My young sister says it is "Scottish"--- Lynda
DeleteHi Lynda…I hope you accomplish something on your “to do” list but also get in a bit of relaxing with a book, too! I bet your fall tree color is gorgeous! The baby picture was hilarious…I laughed out loud at the look on her face! ❤️ Eissa7
ReplyDeleteI thought that picture quite funny too--LOL--Lynda
DeleteIt's Kathy. We are trying to get back into the habit of going to church, but it feels so good to sleep in on Sundays - especially now that the weather is cooler. Children are more tolerated these days than when our children were young. Our church has a very lovely little service for the children and then they leave the church and go to Sunday School. Where my daughter is going they have a play area in the front where the kids can congregate and play. I want to make an apple crisp today - I have some apples that need to be used up. I also have picked some tomatoes and peppers from the few plants I had this year. I'm going to roast some of the Roma tomatoes for dinner tonight - see how that works out! But honestly, I'd rather be reading a book!!!
ReplyDeleteDid yu make that Apple Crisp today?-- I can almost taste it--LOL--Lynda
DeleteBed linen day here, too. Feels so good to crawl into a fresh bed @ the end of a long day!
ReplyDeleteOhhhhhh my. That priest had no patience, did he. I’d feel the same way.
I have to say, I love Autumn, just don’t love what follows!
HUGS and hope it’s a blessed. Peaceful day.
Hugs

ReplyDeleteSunday...funday. Heard that somewhere.
Not much going on here. Took that lady that bothers me for rides (and money) on a short errand. Then I called one of my local 'adopted' daughters who is a counselor to talk about that. I said I thought I was being an enabaler. This girl is on at least 19 meds (for real) for anxiety, depression, pain, sleep, etc. She can't fend for herself. I feel she shouldn't even be in our building. She pops up at my window with no warning saying, "Maggie, you got $5? Can you take me..." It's getting to me. The lady I talked to about it said, "She knows you're king and takes advantage of that. You need to tell her no, not without gas $, advanced warning..." We'll see.
Weather here almost 70F but the breeze is cool. Mostly sun. Really beautiful outside.
Your pets are precious. Cherish your time with them.
Guess Himself has been behaving. Day Care tomorrow for him. Alone time for you!
I hope you didn't work yourself too hard today. Did you take time for some leisure? I gotta read more on my Kindle instead of just playing solitaire!
Love your memes, as usual. Saving the Thanksgiving one and posting that one about the new week tomorrow. {{{HUGS}}}
Too bad that person begs $$$ from yu--"If you give it once she will continue--"--- I hope yu can work it out with her--It must bother yu too!--Yes, Himself has DayCare to-morrow morning and Son#1 is taking him there-This should be interesting-- I never got to cut the grass today-- but--it was a nice day- Son#4 came out and brought the docks in--Himself is not too good to-night--I do not know why--- so much work to take care of him--makes me wonder how long can I do this?-- Anyway-- son#2 the Pilot has gone to London, England-- BHUgs my dear friend-Lynda
DeleteI remember going to Sunday School while very young, but I only had one nicer dress. Wore it week after week. Until I arrived at church one Sunday, and the Welcome Lady up front, told me to tell my mother to buy me some new church going clothes! Until that moment, I didn’t realize that we were considered “poor”….she was snotty about it. Cured me from ever going again, plus I figured out they wanted your donation and were just another business, and nothing has changed in all these years.
ReplyDeleteI will check my shoe situation, I think I can donate shoes, too.
That is really terrible that that woman told yu that--There are some crazy rules eh at some Churches------ so sad how yu were treated--Lynda
DeleteThat picture of the little one is so funny. I bet your trees are already looking good. Ours haven't really done much yet. At least the boys are behaving while waiting to go out! Hope all goes well tomorrow getting himself to the Lodge for the morning! Good luck. Hugs Brenda
ReplyDeleteBrenda-- I thought that expression on the girl so funny- son#1 is taking Himself to Daycare --and Son#3 is picking him up--I have a painter here so I have to stay with the dogs--Lynda
