"Put On Your Boots And Dance"

Sunshine, Lollipops---cool morning--  and--best part---ALL IS WELL- (so far)-

My Hair day has been moved to to-day--as she was away yesterday----  I was downtown already this AM., as the Pharmacy is closing at noon--and I needed my eye drops--  I stopped for gas --Of course the price is up--$1.70 something per gallon--I rushed back home here , knowing Lopez would be screeching for me (The one person dog!)--and as I drove in the gate, sure enough, he was screeching--  I could hear him right out to the road-- so--I grabbed big Beau and Lopez, and we ran down to the lake--and Lopez did his business- for the 2nd time this morning--

Life is busy---- as it always seems to be--

This is a Holiday weekend--- Monday is Labour Day-
- I remember Labour Day, when we lived in London, ON., and there was always a Labour Day Parade--My sister, Mary Beth , and I, were Drum Majorettes---  We took lessons on how to  throw that baton in the air AND catch it--(-I was not the best , on "the catching it"-)-We sure loved that Labour Day Parade however--  marching  to Band Music as we paraded up Dundas Street, in front of either a band--with marching band members playing loud music with their wind instruments----or beside some horses with riders on them. We thought we were "BIG STUFF"--

I remember throwing my baton in the air , many times, not catching it , and the baton would roll under the horses-- (  I  was not the best one to catch the baton as it came flying down.)-- In any event,  we thought we were pretty special , with our white boots with tassls on them, and our special outfits  , Mom had sewn especially for that parade. It seemed like a big deal at the time!

This is September the first-- Fall---- is here--  Lord love a duck! ---where did the summer go??-- I see some of our trees are already turning colours--

A new month---to be strong-- a good day to put on your BOOTS and DANCE--Some days you just gotta Dance ----

Thank the good Lord that we are a part of to-day--and definitely DON"T LET THE CRAZIES GET YOU DOWN--

--and--if people asked you what yu did to-day---tell them-
YOU SURVIVED!

  1. My older sister (7 yrs older) was a majorette. She was always in parades. She was also a figure skater and performed in shows. I was more about speed than grace having grown up a competitive swimmer. I would have played hockey too, as I loved to skate fast around the rink, but at the time, girls were not allowed to play. I was always unfavorably compared to my sister because I was a tomboy. Funny how these memories come glowing back.

    1. Terrible that yu remember being compared to the sister--I remember my Mom favouring my older sister too--It didn't bother me then, but I hope that I never did that to any of my own -- What we have to deal with eh?-Lynda

  4. Happy September! It was cool this morning here in Ohio but we are heading to high 80's and 90 this coming week. We were hot stuff majorettes! Even if we did miss that baton at times! lol It was fun! Enjoy your hair day. These dogs sure do keep us hopping. My little one is 4 months old tomorrow and just a ball of energy. He goes from one thing to another that he is not supposed to be doing. Some days I wonder why I said yes to my husband and nephew. lol He is good when he is asleep. lol Have a fabulous holiday weekend! Hugs!

    1. Many many days in Lopez first 2 years, I wondered why on earth I ever got this little dog?----And then he bit me too-- I had to learn never to just grab him or the bone-- allow him to drop it and come with me outside--He was the most difficult dog I ever had--but--I think he is a smart little guy---and I finally can say that I do love him--took some time tho--Lynda

    2. I have followed you since day one of getting him. You have had a time with him I know. Our 7 year old female was a Lopez but no biting. Just very hyper and into everything! Now Tommy is the same way. Our first one that we lost in January was not like that. The problem is we start caring about these wee ones and here we are. lol It sounds like your Germans have been much easier.

  5. No 'business' in the house...good for you and the doggies.
Got my hair cut last week. SO busy the salon was with all the kids getting cut and styled for back to school.
No leaves changing yet, but it is cooler. Hot weather due to return tomorrow...the upper 80sF.
My Sadie has returned...for laundry, vacuuming, kitchen and bathroom floor scrubbing. Gotta do it.
It will be fun tonight, though. My 'big sister' friend and I are due to go to Eagles for 'bar bingo.' I get a diet soda and we have a lot of fun. It costs $20 for a packet of cards, but last time I won $30
Eating lunch now. I am getting a lunch every day from "Meals on Wheels." It's just for seniors to be sure we are getting at least one nutritious meal a day. I'd have no problems with that, but most of them are really good...with no prep from the recipient. They bill once a month, and you give what you can. The cost goes to the people who prepare the meals in their own home.
On to the Sadie stuff. Lucky wants to play first.
    Your hair will be just as you want it to be soon! {{{HUGS}}}

  6. Good for you for getting your errands done early. My Daisy is also a one person dog. When my husband leaves, she says good bye to him and watches him drive away. When I leave she goes into her kennel and refuses to say goodbye! I had a lovely surprise today - my oldest daughter picked me up and took me to the Farmer's Market in Minneapolis. Then she took me out for lunch. She even paid for my vegetables! It felt really good to get out for a bit! Hope your day is going well!

  7. That meme says it all . . . outward smiles, inward screams!

I am still trying to answer that question . . . where has summer gone! Ah, but it has. Ready for Autumn.

Glad you were able to get home to Lopez and Beau in time. Those fur babies . . . they need us!

HUGS and hope you have a peaceful Labour Day weekend.

  8. Your Labor Day parade reminded me of the “health parade” I was in during elementary school…kids that had all of their vaccinations got to walk down High Street wearing a construction paper headband. We colored a picture of fruit/veggies and stapled it to the headband…hahaha…such a big deal!! Your being a majorette was much more special! Hope that your day was calm and uneventful! ❤️ Eissa7

  9. Oh my goodness hearing Lopez screeching all the way to the gate. Glad you got home in time for the dogs to do their business.
Being a majorette was a Big Deal. I played in the band but always wanted to be a majorette. Those girls in their cute outfits and boots with tassels WERE A BIG DEAL. I did have batons and took twirling lessons but was never picked to be a majorette. In my school, it was a popularity thing, not a skill thing. I smiled about the baton landing under the horse lol Something else to admire about you lol.
My hometown has a homecoming parade this weekend. The band doesn't even wear uniforms in the parade. Usually too hot. Guess we were tougher as kids as we did wear those super hot and heavy uniforms.
Enjoy hair day. You deserve pampering.
Yep..smile on outside while screaming on the inside.
I can't believe you have trees already changing. Will the kids and grands be out over the weekend at the dock?
    Take care of you.
Its lovely in St.Louis but heat returns tomorrow.
    Play your piano.
    Hugs

  10. Hi Lynda: Wow, I can't believe you already have changing leaves on your trees. It sure shows that fall is just around the corner even though this weekend is supposed to be great. Hope you enjoyed your hair appointment. Pic of little girl is cute. It's a good thing Himself can't hear well when Lopez is screeching! Have a good evening. Hugs Brenda

  11. Glad you could get your hair done today! Hope you do not need to go to the grocery store this weekend, too many shoppers. We are to be triple digits for the next two weeks, AC on, and the usual Smog, just like they used to have in Los Angeles, except this is the Dallas area of Texas. Too many people crowded in here, but the state prides itself on money.
