"Every day is the best day in the year."

It is Sunday---  and of course, the clocks "fall" back---so, I have changed  some clocks--not the chiming ones--yet!~ -----  I have a pot of soup on the stove--I have to watch Himself who keeps turning it up and I am afraid it will boil over if I don 't keep my eyes on it--

Son#2 the Pilot just called-- heading to Los Angeles--It seems like he just got home, and he is heading  away again--I know he sounded like he wished he could stay home--  I hear his wife just made a few loaves of bread--I can almost imagine how wonderful the smells from that were in his house--hard to walk away from-

-Son #1 was here this AM., as Himself had a filter stuck on the Propane furnace, which I already had managed to bend and yank at it---and it came out in shreds --I didn't know that one must turn off the furnace before trying to take out the filter--It is amazing what one does not know, even tho one has resided in this house for almost 50 yrs--I learned this morning how to shut off the water to the taps which are outside and will freeze in the winter-----

I hope that your day is happy--if not --make it happy--maybe skip a bit--- dance and sing ----  put a smile on your face---
----------------------------To-day is too dear with its hopes to waste on yesterdays------------------------

  1. I am with you on the furnace filter. No matter how long you've lived there, something that you only need to do 'once in a blue moon' is hard to remember! Glad you got it done, though.
Clocks! I have them all set (even figured out how to do the car clock) except my watch! My adopted daughters bought me a womens Timex Triathalon for Christmas. The letters that say what the buttons are for are so small I can't even read them with magnifiers. Youtube video didn't help, either. Sigh
Got lots done today already, but always more to do. The laundry room is probably busy by now, so that chore will need to wait. Can still change the bed as I have several sets of sheets.
Trust the animals and Himself are giving you no concerns today, and that the rest of it is wonderful.
Saved the Emerson poem. I had it on my old computer. My parents and grandma got me 'into' poetry when I was a tiny tot. I've written a lot, too. Here's one:
    God's Greatest Miracle

The majesty of a mountain range,
the peaks topped by cold white snow,
    cannot surpass God's miracle
    that is you.

The downy miracle of a chick's softness
warm and yellow as the sun,
    pales beside God's miracle
    that is you.

The miracle of the ocean's crash
upon the rocks below the rugged cliff
    cannot surpass God's miracle
    that is you.

    A butterfly's wing, a kitten's mew
a redwood tree, a piano etude by Chopin
the Mona Lisa's smile, are not as dear as God's miracle
    That is you.

The knowledge of the Universe, the beauty of springtime
the love of God are, if only you knew,
    encompassed in His miracle
    that is you.

  2. It's Kathy. How wonderful you own house must smell with soup on the stove. It's certainly a good day for soup. We got a smoker last year and only used it once so far, bought ribs and everything. So today my husband is smoking ribs - 2 racks of them. We'll take a bunch out once they're smoked and freeze them that way in smaller chunks. Now I have to figure out the rest of the meal! It's suppose to be the warmest day here in a few weeks but it's sure got a chill in the air. I got my hanging planters pulled out, cut back a few flowers and took in my solar lights so they don't get hurt by the snowblower this winter. I need to clean everything now - maybe tomorrow. Now I think I'll watch some TV! Have a really great day!

  3. Happy Sunday! You need some of that bread to go with your soup. Maybe your son can do a quick flyover and drop a loaf. Lol Hope himself don’t keep turning it up. I got the covers put on the outside faucets to protect them. Always something to take care of it seems. Mostly sunny in Ohio today. I really wanted a quiet reading day but the neighbor decides to get out his huge, loud mower again today! He got his lawn done yesterday so I am clueless and annoyed as to what he is doing. Then, he puts it away at 11 pm at night and stirs my yorkies. Oh my! The only thing I love about Winter is the quietness. Leaving soon to go to the next town over to pick up indian food which is my favorite. That will settle my mood. Lol Thanks for letting me vent. Lol Hope your day is quiet and lovely! Enjoy your soup!:)

  4. Love the ladies dancing it up! And I must get my happy on like the little girl so I can get prettier! House must smell good with soup cooking. Glad son #1 came to help with the furnace filter. Some of these chores are a real pain. And son #2 can hope his wife makes more bread before he gets home. Have a good night. Hugs Brenda

  5. Homemade soup sounds so good and if only you had that homemade bread too. I tried making vegetable beef soup yesterday and it was not great. We ate some for lunch but the rest will need to go away. It was from a mix and extremely insanely salty.
Glad son came over to give a hand on house mysteries. Its great to have handy sons nearby.
Its dark already. I got the house clocks and watches changed. Glad the car sets itself.
    Hope your Sunday was special.
    Hugs

    1. Got all the clocks set, actually woke up about 2AM and got up and set them..at least I don't have as many as I used to. I still have to do the microwave, but that's it.
I like your positivity and homemade soup sounds great, and throw some of the home made bred in there, would be perfect. I saw someplace online today that will send you frozen bread dough and you bake it as you are ready at home. One of my watches David got me is atomic and supposedly sets itself...it did, it jumped forward another hour so I got to call california and find out what to do...drat.
the other one I lost directions for, so I went to walmart today and bought a normal set with the stem watch...lol
      Patience just gave out.
We went to a Masonic cookout today, which was very nice, then went and got some more light fixtures to put up in the basement...My room is done except for the ceiling fan (which I will probably not use) I am always cold down here.
Have a great week and hope Fred did not mess with your soup.

  6. Hi Lynda….. over the last few years I have been doing all the things my husband has always done around the house and yard. I started a home maintenance journal with all the information I would need to change filters, smoke alarm batteries, shut offs, and the like. It’s a work in progress for sure, but I am learning to manage the things he can no longer do. I refer to this book often. I began to have him teach me these things a few years ago. I have sections on our utilities information, important phone numbers for repair people, and a section on the car. This is everything we would need to know to run the house in some kind of order. Write down everything you are learning because it will come in handy. Also, date the battery and filter changes
    in your log book.
