What are you doing to-day?

AND----You go and do it--NOTHING-----What I like doing best--"IS NOTHING"----so true eh?--Sunday is the absolute best day, to do NOTHING!~----and------To-day is SUNDAY!

Well, I did get Lopez out---already---  Beau also----  and I did change the bed--and wash the sheets-- plus I scraped some snow off the driveway--and, I might go for bananas---but--- none of that counts---

Guess where Son #2, the Pilot is?--- Costa Rica , in Panama---  He flew there last night---  I think he said, a 5 hr flight--and guess where he was for breakfast---

MACDONALDS ----

---------------------------------------and a Radio Shack-------

Himself seems good this AM----I  have not taken off is dressings, but I surmise underneath  all the wrapping, plus him taking the oral antibiotics, it must look better--

I do have something to ask you all--How on earth are you all coping with  the meals?--I find getting a dinner meal together , is almost more than my brain seems to be able to deal with--Breakfast is a cinch---lunch not so bad either, but dinner---  I've forgotten everything I used to feed 5 grown children, over the years---either I have forgotten--or when I make the supreme effort to put a dinner meal together, then, I look at it, and do not want to eat it---  Is it just me?---- Do you have an enormous problem with dinner?----But, when I pick up a meal from somewhere, we both polish it off --no problem!

Looking back, I do remember Mom and Dad always appearing  at our house, just before we were ready to sit down and eat--I would always say, "Just stay and have supper Mom"-----9 times out of 10, she would say , "oh no, we were just driving by Dear"---NOW I UNDERSTAND---

It seems,  both Himself --and myself, frequent take out dinners from various places, more and- more-- Lord love a Duck!---  Are we the only 95 and 80yr old senior citizens whose mindless at dinner time?

I must get off of here , because I have to go and do--"NOTHING"---  and I must go and do that right now--- Want to join me?  ---  oh--before I forget----

  1. Good morning!
I continue to plan my weekly meals. Learned that from Spark People. Still go to the grocery store with that list. It helps so much. My
Mind wants to shut down after 4…. I put the list on my phone and stuck with the plan. Pinterest meals is also my salvation. Lol.
It’s been raining all night. I’m good with that. No snow! Yippee
Today I am taking down my Fall decorations. Nobody is coming here for Thanksgiving. Might as well start the Christmas season. TKe my time and deep clean before the decorations. Perfect day for it. Might even play Christmas music! December always flies by so fast. I want to enjoy the season.
    Have a wonderful day. Jacquie

  2. Mum -my mother-in-law- get to be that way about when she cooked dinner and we seem to enjoy it so much more when I cooked. I think I understand that now and it's a bit of what you're going through too. yes lately, I'm just so tired by the time it's dinner time that I have no interest in cooking but I seem to be quite able to delivered food. the thing is, I can't really afford to do that more than once every couple of weeks. And lately I've been very bad about ordering maybe twice a week, and using the microwave, kinds of dinners or easy stuff to put in the air fryer. So it's not just you! I do try to make sure that I have vegetables every single day though. Anyway, time for me to go to bed. I hope you have a wonderful day. Love and Hugs

  3. Dinner? I pretty much stop eating at 3 or 4 p.m. We don't really NEED a heavy evening meal. It won't kill us to skip it. I understand it now, too.

  5. I completely agree with you about cooking. I seem to fix just one item for the meal instead of a balanced diet. A bowl of cereal hits the spot some evenings when I just don't feel like cooking! Like tonight! I just can't stand long enough to do a lot of real cooking these days. The fun of old age. D

  6. Oh shoot, Lynda, I have trouble just coming up with what yo fix, don’t want to be standing by the stove for a long time at all! Funny how food that comes delivered seems to taste so much better! Think of how many years we have cooked! When I was younger, I told my husband I was not coking dinner after I was 70! But he passed away, so no reason to cook for me, so quick things were fine. Then one son moved in to keep an eye on me, and he works all day, so I do cook for him, trying to get some veggies in him….but I’m not happy about it. And washing the stuff seems such a waste of time.

  7. Hii Lynda: I make dinner every night but I go for easy - like Crave dinners, or a PCVeg. Lasagna which I can have for a few days. Or air fry a couple of chicken thighs. So you're definitely not alone. I love Costa Rica. After my mom passed we went there every Xmas for about 15 years. It's just above Panama as a separate country. Can't believe how the pilot finds a McDonalds any where in the world. He must really love their food! Glad himself's leg is improving and he can go to daycare tomorrow. Have a good night. Hugs Brenda

  8. Lynda, I didn't have a do nothing Sunday even after a late karaoke night.
Had a little help to get some stuff done around here. That was a treat. Lots of folks here have country workers, but I don't qualify for that.
There must be a McDonald's everywhere! Well, major cities, anyway.
Himself must feel better. Hope his ulcers heal rapidly.
Dinner? I was just talking about that with a friend. I remember cooling big meals while the kids were young, too. Now it's just me.
I do sometimes make soup...way too much, or something else and am eating it for days. No more roasts or things like that.
Tonight I am having a salad with my organic mixed greens. The protein will be vegetarian baked beans. I'll add carrots, diced tomatoes and on top...crispy onions like are in green bean casserole.
The word casserole is interesting. People in Minnesota do not make casseroles...they make a "hot dish!"
Time for my meditation now, with Lucky cuddling on a blanket on my lap.
    Hope you have a great evening. {{{HUGS}}}

  9. Hi Lynda! Hope you had a great Sunday! It was so nice here in Ohio so we took our nephew out shopping and to Starbucks. He was happy. Your son loves to find McDonald's. They all look different depending on what area he goes to. I hope Himself is doing well today and his leg is healing nicely. I hear ya on the dinner dilema. I think it doesn't help that we are tired by that time of the day so picking up something seems to help so much. Some days are better than others. You know how that goes. Sometimes I am just too tired to think what to have much less to make it. Then other days I have things all planned out and it all goes well. Just too much to do and think about, right? Enjoy your evening!:)

  10. I'm with you on cooking dinner...out of ideas plus hubs is low fat, low salt. Pretty boring and mundane and thats why take out tastes so much better. Anytime I dont have to cook, food tastes better. We do have to limit carryout and eating out due to prices.
McDonald's seems to be everywhere. Nice that pilot son gets frequent warm weather breaks.
    Hope himself is doing well.
A new week awaits. Thursday is Thanksgiving in the states and we're going to sons...no cooking for me. Yay
    Hugs

  11. I'm with you on being tired when it's time to make dinner. I try my Grandma's trick by making it in the morning or at least getting it prepped. Still have trouble on days when sleep is elusive, so getting going in the morning is hard. It does seem a bit easier to finish it when I've got it started or sometimes done because I put it in the Crockpot. Keep on doing the best you can as that's all that's expected!

  12. I live alone now, and at least once a week I make a pot of some kind of soup, which is good for several meals. I also grill(winter or summer)a steak or pork chop on the outside grill and make side dishes some evenings. I make other things too, some real dinners, but at least once a week I resort to frozen dinners or pizza. I rarely eat dinner out or pick it up, due to budget. I do go out to lunch with friends a couple of times a month. I agree that sometimes nothing sounds particularly good, and I resort to cereal or cheese and crackers.

  13. It is difficult after cooking monument type meals for a big family to go down to cooking for 2....now I have to adjust to cooking for myself alone....occasionally I go up and cook for the daughter/soninlaw, but back problems make it hard to do, standing in one place chopping and dicing ....lol..........
