Older and wiser --

We must  stay strong--- NEVER EVER quit! ---and there are times in every day that it would be easier to just lie down and cry----  That doesn't get us anywhere---Mom used to say,
" Good, Better, Best, May it Never Rest, Till the Good is Better, and the Better, -Best"---
--Life can be tough, but so can we------
To-day is Saturday----and  we have Sunday-----a couple of days of rest, before Monday rolls round again--If the rain ever stops, I might get some raking done---the front lawn  is calling my name--Once I get it raked, I can fertilize--

The past 2 days, we have had so much wind--limbs have been falling from trees, all over the lawn and the back road-and with that, power outages----  blinking off and on--  with me heading down to the freezer every time, to reset the freezer-kinda drives me crazy--We live in the bush so  there is always the threat of power outages in a storm--At least now the Generator is outside in a shed so I can start it if need be--When you live with a 95 yr old person, one must be a woman of many talents--

I still miss big Beau---  I  feel like I let him down at the end--  I could not find help for him--It takes such a long time to get over all that doesn't it?--Here I was , driving back and forth to town, no vet available to assist with his dying, on the phone to my daughter, in Ohio, ---me crying , and Beau looking like "Death"--his tongue on the floor of the back seat ---He looked like he was in misery----Whenever I meet him  on that bridge, I will apologize to him----such a terrible situation--Now , I am crying--AGAIN___

Lopez  does help--  He is such a different type of dog-- which I guess is a good thing-a challenge to deal with ---hears everything-

-They say, "If a tree falls in a bush, a Chihuahua will hear it"--and--he does hear everything--and is quite a Guard dog--- yet--- a lovable little guy also---

here is the sweet little viscous guy--

--So---  ever onward here--- Life goes on and we survive---   I suppose all the chaos , in our "older age" makes us stronger---AND WISER------

Wiser is a good thing isn't it?

  1. Lynda, yes, older is wiser. If we only knew then what we know now, we may have made different decisions.
We have no lights shing on our parking lot and 30 apartment building now, only 1 washer, etc. This building was constructed in the early 80s and lots of it is original. It's spooky going outside at night.
Other than that, life is great.
Sunny day today with a high this afternoon of 80F (26.667C)!!!
My lilacs will have buds on them after today. I should be able to get some within a week. My 'adopted' local daughters have a long driveway lined with lilac bushes. They let me gather as many as I like. I bring bouquets to several of my neighbors.
Getting garbage/recyclable down next (well, after Lucky plays), then getting my hair washed and cut. Karaoke tonight.
That rain preventing you from raking? That may mean you get your inside stuff done. Maybe piano, a nap with your kindle, etc.
Of course, Lopez is a good boy, and of course you still miss Beau. You did everything you could, though, with the resources you had.
Find reasons to be happy, sis. That's the goal. Joy! Music, laughter, doing things you love...or at least the ones that give you satisfaction when they're done. {{{HUGS}}} Love, Maggie

Find something fun/enjoyable to do for awhile today…it is “the weekend.”

  3. Big Hugs for your missing Beau! And calming thoughts for those seeming inescapable guilt feelings... it comes from your tender heart, I know. But I also know that Beau forgives you, because that's what good dogs do... they love so much!

Little Ember is a handful, but so, so worth it. There is so much love between humans and their dogs!

May the weekend be restful, and may you and Himself and little Lopez and Sushi have a bright week to come.

  4. What a wise saying from your Mom!

Sorry you’re dealing w/power outages. Hope things settle down.

Awwww, you did the very best ANYONE could do for Beau, under the circumstances, which you could not control. I am sure Beau knows all that.

Awwww, Lopez looks so innocent in his little nest!

OMG! Almost spit my coffee reading that last meme! BWAHAHAHA

Hugs and have a good weekend.

  5. Hi Lynda, I wrote a reply but it refused to publish, so here's the condensed attempt.
Rain is better than snow. Resetting the freezer is a pain but thus far your power hasn't stayed off for long. Picking up limbs doesn't sound fun. Exercise pros say squats are one of the best things we can do. Somehow that doesn't make limb picking sound a whole lot more enticing.
Of course you grieve for Beau and you will for a long time. Lynda on that day there was no help for him...none. Beau knows you always did your best for him.
Lopez is a rascal with a different temperament.
    It's HOT here today..85F
LOVED THE LAST MEME...CRACKED ME UP. Thanks for making my day again today.
    Hugs and blessings

  6. Hi Lynda! Lots of power outages and wind damages in Ohio! It was sunny but was showing cloudy. I was happy! Love that little Lopez since the beginning of time. I know you miss Beau. I miss our first yorkie we lost last year. We have Kloi 8 years old and little Tommy who will be one on May 2. Tomorrow is our fave day. Let’s rest and enjoy!

  7. Hi Lynda: Haven't been able to post the last few days. Beau would have known there was nothing you could do for him and that you tried everything. When there is no one available to help there is nothing you can do. It is beyond your control so don't feel bad. It is really windy here today which makes it really cold. Maybe it's moved down here and will get a bit warmer there! Supposed to rain again tomorrow though. Love your memes! Have a good night. Brenda

  8. “Learn to rest, not to quit”
Yes, laying down and crying doesn’t get us anywhere, but sometimes I just need to allow myself 10 or 20 minutes to do so, then I can move on.
Weekends are the best! I can get out here and say hi to you 😀 and Himself, and Lopez, and Sushi ❤️
I hope you hear from family on family day.
And yes, that last meme is a hoot! Glad you settled on yes, keep it!
    Hugs,
