VERY COLD here , but it is supposed to get milder --I just took Lopez out for the 2nd time and he kept holding his wee little toes up--Ill get him out again when it warms up a bit--
But when I was out there, I could see the black squirrels running along the branches between nests--If you look closely at the picture below, you can see bunches of leaves stuck together in the trees --They seem to be squirrel nests--They are all over nearly ever every tall tree--and these black squirrels are running between them--
And Son#2 , the Pilot , is now in Germany--- will return home to-morrow--and guess what?--He FOUND A McDONALD"S------IN GERMANYLopez is in the study here with me--- hoarding a piece of kibble--not wanting me to take it from him--Crazy dog!So, a new day has begun--- I shall try to get Himself to a coffee club across the street --to Community Care--Himself has been doing quite well really-- Not the day I got my hair done however-- He does not like being left alone--, so when I returned home that day, he was "fit to be tied"--(Mom's expression)-Lordy Be-- One never knows what to expect when one lives with a 96 yr old------Some days are better than others--One must be strong--- One must pray that everyday goes OK--and that does not seem to happen---SO__"JUST KEEP GOING" -----"BE STRONG"----"DO NOT PANIC-"----"NO CRYNG" __AS this too shall pass--(Someone said that!)
Sun---- supposed to warm up--somewhat--can't get better than that--can it???
Remember to STAY STRONG TO_DAY__
ReplyDeleteLOL! Of course DS #2 found a McDonals in Germany. He finds them everywhere I have a menu from McDonalds in Munich that I have framed and in my kitchen. The had beer!
Glad Himself is feeling better.
OH MY! Haven’t seen that little weekend guy in ages! YES, staying strong. And YEAH, the weekend is coming.

Aww-- The weekend is coming--Yeahh--Matt will return from Germany also--and from India-- I kinda feel homesick for Elliot so it will be good to see him-Lynda
DeleteIt's Kathy. I'm sure your son would find a McDonald's in the Amazon Rain Forest! It's like his 6th sense! Love the photos. It's cute that little Lopez feels he has to protect his kibble from you, when I'm sure you're the one who gave it to him. We have grey squirrels in our yard, lots and lots of them. And several nests in our trees. The neighbor behind us has a walnut tree and the squirrels collect the very large seeds and hide them throughout the yard in the fall. They're really very clever little things! I hope you have a good day! Today I've started the AARP Drivers Safety Course for older adults. It give us a reduction on our car insurance. But really, it's so condescending. I already know when I shouldn't be driving! That's when my husband takes over!
ReplyDeleteKathy --Good for yu to take that course--- It must help yu a lot----I have never seen those squirrel nests before now--so interteresting to see those wee sqirrels zipping round those trees--Lynda
DeleteIt's a tad warmer here, too. Snow flakes falling gently, peacefully. No accumulation forecast, though.
ReplyDeleteWhen you're gone, can Himself remember where you are and know that you will return soon?
Germany looks peaceful, too. More so than in the past. There seems to be a McDonald's everywhere!
It's peaceful here, too. I don't need to go anywhere today. I will just straighten up around here, play my favorite game on the PC, listen to my Law of Attraction stuff on youtube, do my exercise bike, etc.
Lucky will want to snuggle for a nap soon.
The laundry room is busy. That is out for now.
I checked the blog from yesterday first to see if you made any comments, and then called up today's blog.
I saved that last meme to share.
I will check back later, as always. Feel peace today, feel the joy and love of your favorite things...like Lopez. Oh, I need your address so I can send your books. You had told me to wait to send them until after your move was complete. {{{HUGS}}} Love, Maggie
Yu know Maggie , I think he forgets where I go and how long I will be-=-He was quite upset last week when I returned home----Maggie--THe new address is__

I feel like I could just move right back to Elliot Lake to-night-- homesick sort of--Love yu, Lynda
Hopefully you will be able to get Fred in Daily Day Care or at least the three days a week like before. Since you won't have quite as much to do, maybe you will be able to use one of those days as your hair day? How often do you go for your hair? I only go every 8 weeks, but my hair is very straight and I don't color. Lisa/Straitlover
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa --In Elliot Lake I went to my hair appointment every week--but here I try to stretch it out to every 2 weeks---Have to see-- I have to see how this girl does-- So good to hear from yu--Lynda
DeleteHi Lynda, maybe on your next visit to the pet store you can inquire about little booties for Lopez, so with his parka and booties he might do his business when you want him to. Have you checked into the Centers where Fred might go for a few hours? If that gets set up, maybe when he's at the Center you can have your hair done. Have a good day Lynda.
ReplyDeleteMaureen from California
Maureen I hope you were not where that huge fire is--That really was terrible--scarey---Lynda
DeleteHow wonderful is it that you can take Lopez out without shoveling snow, that you can watch the squirrels doing their thing and enjoy without dealing with raking up any leaves or dealing with issues the animal life causes; except, of course whatever antics Mr. Lopez gets up to. One of our dogs, Roxey, will do that; not wanting to eat the rest of her kibbles, but laying there to guard her bowl in case Thor tries to have it ... he's hoovers up his food in literally no time. :D
ReplyDeleteOh, I served in Germany when in the US Army. I have to laugh at McDonalds being popular there ... they have the most amazing food. And those brick streets... running on those things in formation in combat boots is a bear!!!! It's cool how you get to see so many places around the world through pictures Matt sends...and 'real' ones, not holiday brochure shots.
Getting out for a coffee and the Dollar store without such a drive, having a quick trip when finding a day program for Fred seems like it will be wonderful outcome of the move. You can get out and get things done more easily, and Fred can have the human interaction more easily as well. I was thinking about that ... it's true the dementia probably makes is more stressful or lonely for him to be alone. But for many years he was working with people and needed by them in his professional capacity, so coupled with the cognitive issues that lack of being needed and interaction would be magnified.
So glad things are going well, and the rush-pressure-rush of the move and immediate settling the home is over. Now you can get your breath, notice and find your groove. Happy Friday.
Good of yu to write--As silly as this sounds I do miss Elliot Lake--knowing people there and everything there--But--I try to remember the work involved to keep the house going---- Yers Fred needs to socialize with people--keeps him happy--Hopefully I can get him out here to a program--He does well with other people-- Nice that yu wrote--I do appreciate hearing from yu-Lynda--
DeleteHi Lynda, one of your loyal crazy fans here. Cute insert. Gotta keep laughing.
ReplyDeleteSnowing again. Groan. I feel like I'm Canadian at this point.
Pilot always finds McDonalds. He and his dad both like McDonalds.
Aren't the German brick streets charming?
I do hope you can nail down a day program so himself can get out and socialize. Fingers crossed.
Have a terrific day and laugh often. Stay strong.
Love, big hugs and blessings from St.Louis

So good to hear from yu Marge- Today I was kinda homesick for Elliot--tryng to get over it-=-Good to hear from yu==It helps to get over the homesickness ---Thank yu --- Snow supposed to fall here but no snow falling here yet--Lynda
DeleteSunshine makes all the difference some days! We had sun, and the temperature rose above the freezing point by a couple of degrees (F).
ReplyDeleteYU ARE PROBABLY RiGHT Barb--no sun here--- so-- homesickness settled in--Lynda
DeleteHi Lynda! It’s snowing good here in Ohio tonight. I have red and black squirrels and the nests up high in the trees. They are fun to watch. I am sorry you are a bit blue today. I hope when your son gets back may help. My tinnitus is still acting up and it makes me sad. Maybe we need ice cream. LOL. Take care! Big hugs!
ReplyDeleteI got into that darn chocolate--LOL--Lynda
DeleteNice! You GO girl!
DeleteHi Lynda: With Lopez holding his paws up - Is it just the cold or do they use salt on the roads. That's what they use here and not the dog friendly type. So more boots or brush them off a lot. And supposed to be warmer here tomorrow. Yes you really need to find a seniors place to leave himself at when you go out. You really miss Elliot Lake a lot eh ot is it the rest of the boys or both? Have a good night. Hugs Brenda
